Execution of an innocent person is, by far, the worst because it involves premeditated killing by the state. In all other cases, even the death of a bystander in war, decisions made at an individual level may play a role and so it is--in a relative sense--less serious. I agree that the execution of an innocent person is the worst, mostly because of the same reasons lawdog listed. I don't, however, agree that the rest of the cases involved individual desisions that make them less serious. The person didn't choose to be hit by a drunk driver. The baby didn't choose to have its brain sucked out. The unforseen results of a seemingly insignificant decision shouldn't make one's fate less serious. Even so, the innocent person being executed made random decisions that led them to their predicament just as the innocent victim of a drive by did. -------------------------------------------------- Stay positive and love your life.

That is a misnomer. Islam is a doctrine which contains its religion, means to govern and mandate of being subservient. Well. now, if you're going to use that broad a definition, fine; but acknowledge that lots of religions do that, not just Islam. Christianity, for example: That's just one example from one religion. Do your mother and grandmother not want you to be with her because of her atheism? 1. People, even atheists, can and do become religious later in life. The fact she used to be religious may or may not push her to be religious later. 2. Will you stop loving her later in life if she does become religious again? If you can imagine yourself not loving her because of an internal decision she might make in the future then maybe the love isn't as deep as you think. 3. If you love her and marry her then you should conisder her the number one woman in your life.
