Bizz got hisself into some trouble that cost him his life... Don't know why he did what he did, but his life is over now. He had a huge heart, and helped many people when they were down. My life was in pieces when I met him and he helped get me back on track through kindness and generosity. Wish I'd known he was so close to the edge on Sunday, I would have done most anything to bring him back. May the skies be clear, the road smooth and the beer cold, Bizz. We are gonna miss you around here!

AWWWWW SHIT! One of my _True_ Hero's is gone. My best memory with Ted was at PIA 2005 and some friends set me up, (unbeknownst to me) for a job interview with him. We talked about some interesting projects I had done and he asked "What kind of equipment do you have in your loft?" I proceeded to list off the two dozen machines and various tool I have. His response was, "Not many guy's are set up like you in the field." I said, "Well Ted, if you want to do factory repairs, ya kinda have to have a factory, right?" then he rubbed his hands together a bit and smiled, "I've never heard it put quite like that, but that's _good_!" I was thrilled by the compliment from one of the real pioneers of sport parachuting. Ted I know wherever you are you will bringing out the best of everyone around you. Thanks for the influence, I hope I can live up to it.

That's exactly why people must know how to do BASIC inspection of the equipment they are jumping. A second set of eyes never hurts.

Don't good habit start at the beginning?

Gotta ask yourself, what does "sun fade" mean?. Why does sunlight change nylon webbing? After it is changed, what condition is it in?

Can I jump with a spinal fusion?
PeteS replied to spencersmith233's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
First thing, how much of your spine is fused? The more fused vertebre you have, the less you are able to spread out the loads you will surely encounter. The spine just above and below the fusion will take more load than it should. The fused spine may also break, and I'm sure you would not want that! Tandems _can_ open very hard, just like any other parachute, so beware... -
I started packing for $$ or should I say cents in 1974. I was 12 years old and started packing for a quarter ea.My family did not have much back then and if I could come home with a few bucks every weekend, that was cool. Guy's would wait for me to get to them and one day Joe McLaughlin offered me $1.00 to pack if he could be first. It ruined it for everyone else after that!!I did a pretty good business for a kid, learned a lot and made some good friends along the way. Those PC's in Stylemaster containers were a bitch for a skinny kid to close, but I learned good technique. Started packing Reserves under supervision at 13 years of age then started to get really exploited, er excited, yea that's it!!

Nice, Frank! show us more when you can!

Yes, post pics!

Did you check on the construction of the "new" one? curious minds want to know.. post pics if you need to, show close up where the load tapes are on the mesh, how they join with the zp material. center line type and length. How does the kill line sit when cocked and the main is packed? does it partially collapse the pc? I wish i could have it in my hands to look at, I could say more.

Is the pilot chute made correctly? An error in manufacture can give worse openings than a smaller, correctly made one. Is the operation of this pilot chute cocking mechanism the same as your last one? Again, minute differences can add up.

I see uneven line groups on line stretch. You are raising your right leg. Try just touching your heels together when you feel the risers tug at you. Don't lock your legs, but push your heels together. Think "There's no place like home, there's no place like home". Look straight at the horizon with your hands just above your 3 rings. Be ready to _Harness steer_ though the opening if need be. How many jumps are on the canopy, lines, ect.? Short control lines can influence openings quite a bit. Hope this helps! Oh yea, one more thing, Stiletto is not a great ws canopy..

Careful what you ask for, you might get what you/we don't want!

Well, I for one can tell you that I saw the movie at the Paramount lot in the company theatre last night in 3-D. Where can I get me one of those wingsuit things? How much will it cost? How may jumps will I need before I can jump, er should I say "Wingsuit in" to a city like that? I have been wondering what catch phrase the 20 somethings will be using all summer to drive staff crazy! I think the movie will have some impact on #'s, we will see.

I would say that most days you can get 8 jumps easy. You just never know how many tandems are going to walk in the door..

Does it turn on opening/ If so, what direction?

Pack jobs are $5.00, tipping is a good thing. It's def worth it to have 2 rigs if you are motivated to make a lot of jumps. In August the planes are flying pretty regularly every day. On the the weekends, usually there are two Twin Otters flying and a 3rd plane if needed.

Hey Dr. C, slacker should get a Go Pro, a high limit credit card, some cool shades and dress all in black. He'd be the "Next big thing", really make an impact, or not.

Calling you now..

Not sure I get that idea. What happens when someone gets the wrong thread out for the job? Tying flaps together is another example of fix one problem, create another.

I have a 1959 Mac 1-40, a Echo 280-E and a something I got from Lowe's when the punk at the saw shop did not even go look for a starter cover for the Echo. I bought the Mac in '82 I believe and had the carb cleaned once. Just empty the tank and run it dry every time you put it up. The old guy I got it from used to put one QT 30 wt. motor oil in 2.5 gal of gasoline for a mix. The Mac is an old FS saw with two ports instead of four, they ordered them that way for longevity. I guess it has worked so far. the Echo is a small saw that I used every day for four years as a line clearance tree trimmer. Quite the little beast.
