So just updating to mountain lion let you handle mts files without converting them to apple friendly file format? (natively?) I have imovie 11 that came with snow leopard equipped mac. I then updated to lion. I just need to buy mountain lion? Thanks.

Thanks for posting this. I always assumed that the gopro plastic mount would brake off at the buckle (snap fit), should something like that happen. (It seems like the pilot uses the mount that comes with the camera. Not the aftermarket ones.)
-
Thanks for the info. My buddy jumps 2 Gopros. One for video and the other for 2 sec interval photos. Your idea sound really nice.

has anyone used the NEX for video? of course for jumping.

Kevin, If you already have the switch with stereo plug (for Rebel) then just get this one. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/615567-REG/Dot_Line_RS_RTC_C3_RTS_Adapter_for_RS_RT06.html If you can wait till safety day, I will show it to you. It works great. Shogo

I love being able to use old lenses, too. I have several myself. With live view, manual focusing is easier than ever. FD might be a good choice for NEXs or micro4/3. But the FD to EF adapter requires/has correction lens for shorter registration distance. I have not heard good thing about these adapters with correction lenses. Which one do you use for your 85 1.2? Edit: I was assuming you are using EF cameras.

That sucks. I was about to order the samyang 14mm. It has even bigger front element… Until I read your post I thought that the larger front element was not the cause, like pilotdave says. How many jumps (weekends) have you used the samyang 8mm? I read somewhere here that Laszlo was using the samyang 8mm, too. Not sure if he had the fog issue. I had similar fog issues with raynox HD 3030 0.3x (video) and sigma 15mm before. But that only happened on a few occasions. I used century 0.3, which has a huge front element for almost 3 summers and I never had the fog issue. Was the fog inside the lens?

Canon 7D- 18MP/8fps/full HD Video/$1900

May be blurring (jump suits), but I did not see the jelloing problem like in the Nikon D90 and the canon 5Dmkii, even when he picked up the camera and panned it to chase the airplane. -
Canon 7D- 18MP/8fps/full HD Video/$1900

Wow. Thanks for posting the video! I have had 7D since last year and I never gave it a try videoing in freefall. After seeing that, I will try it. Just curious, why 720/50fps? Do you have IS on your 18-55? If so, did you turn it on? Canon does not recommend turning IS on while videoing because it records the IS motor noise, but I thought that in our case the wind noise would cover that. -
Yeah, I saw that and I updated it. Works for Mac as well. Thanks!

The sigma 8mm is for the full frame giving a circular image on a full frame sensor, and the sigma 4.5mm is for the cropped sensor giving a circular image on a cropped sensor. I think 8mm can be used on a cropped sensor, but 4 corners still gives black edges so you need to crop the image to get diagonal fisheye (as opposed to circular fisheye image.) Edit. Samyang BMFIN is referring to is a diagonal fisheye for a cropped sensor equivalent to the sigma 10mm fisheye.

Wow. Thanks for sharing those images. Incredible stuff. People jumping EX-1 are amazing, too.

-Only thing I have noticed is the "AF point" selection on DPP which will give me the AF grid, but that doesnt really give me any info on where it was focused and which distance.. (see photo) That's what I meant. But yours are all red. Is this due to the camera deciding to use average of these points; or is the camera showing you the user selected AF points. Mine shows one or more of the points in red where the camera decided to focus. (If I am using “all points used” mode.) I guess we are deviating from the thread too much. But I am very curious about this. My e-mail is shogo@dropzone.com. edit By the way nice picture.

I have tried auto focus. (using USM powered and non-USM powered lenses) I feel it's easier with manual focus. I look at pictures with auto focusing and I find a lot of them are focused at infinity. (On DPP, you can see where the camera focused, too.). But guys at my DZ have been telling me Auto is the way to go. I will try both next season. Maybe I need a real ring sight, too.

Pentax is coming out with a digital medium format this year. Might be a cheaper alternative. The ad says 1.7x the 35mm full frame sensor, so that will have the same size sensor as H4D. You should buy it! http://www.camera-pentax.jp/new/ But can you still pan-focus with hyperfocal distance? 1.7 times mean 35mm lens would be like 60mm. Auto focus?

Yeah. He is amazing. I came across his picture with exif info on the internet the other day (says Hasselblad H3D). What a dedication. http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/870382 It looks to me that he used flash. I can’t imagine the total weight.

I don’t think 4x5 (in inches) format was ever considered medium format (e.g. 6x7 in centimeters.). But I agree. It this really the first time?

I use DPP. (Hey it’s free and I think it is very good. Downside is that it does not let you tilt image. I hate tilted horizon.) I have tried Aperture 2, but I was not impressed. I will try Lightroom to see what you mean. But isn’t adjustment brush more like dodging and burning tool? Is it same as layering? I was thinking this might be a nice feature. http://www.niksoftware.com/viveza/usa/entry.php?view=intro/viveza2_features.shtml Looks to me, it is a true localized touch up without layering. I don’t know how well it works though. I have not tried, because I am not sure if the trial version works with the snow leopard (I had issues with DPP and my colorimeter when I up graded to the snow leopard.). Thanks for the tip. I will try lightroom.

I would do exactly the same thing you did, but I noticed the jumper kinda does not pop out anymore. May be it's my monitor. When I do a similar PP, like a person under canopy, I cannot get it to come out the way I want. Saturation in the back ground and the jumper standing out, instead of dissipating into the back ground. Does anyone know how to achieve localized touch up without going into complicated layering?

That's too bad about the 350. I noticed that it has significantly wider lens. (29.8mm: 35mm equivalent) I wonder what happens if we put existing wide angler converter. Does it even get wider?

Canon 7D- 18MP/8fps/full HD Video/$1900

Very unlikely. Just swaying it wobbles the image pretty bad. (On the ground.) -
Also, for comfy fit, and if the lower part of chin cup cut into your throat, you can file it down with sandpaper pretty easily. So the helmet does not choke you. You should rebake all 4 pads to really fit you well. You do chin and top pads first without the ear pads. then you do ear ones. SEE instruction from Bonehead. http://www.boneheadcomposites.com/baking.htm#flattop
-
Yeah, you can re-bake them. I have done so several times. Also you should fit the helmet and sight the camera at the same time. I connected the camcorder to TV, which was on the helmet during the cooling/hardening/setting period for the foam. I looked at what I was seeing on TV to sight it. If you need to make it smaller, you can shave off some part of the foam (The part making it too tight for you.) with razor blades, or Exacto type knives. Utility cutter knife with replaceable blazes would do it, too. Just need to be super sharp. Then you re-bake it, and fit it to you. You can repeat this (a lot). You can also add more foam and re-bake it. I did this to fill in the hole I made to put dyters. You can pretty much re-construct and do whatever you want. Not all foam is bakeable, but a lot you see at the hardware store would work. Usually not the light ones. They shrink to nothing. The fit should be pretty tight. At the altitude it would be super tight. They expand a lot at the altitude. That's okay, because at pull altitude they would be looser. You don’t want it be loose. For obvious reason. If your head is smaller, then the magnitude of expansion of the foam is pretty large, since the foams would have to be thicker. I wish they made different sized shells.

Wow. Nice. I like them all, but I like the second and the fifth ones. Longer focal length?
-
Okay. I just wanted to know if someone has jumped them yet, or not. Looks like the answer is No. That’s fine. I now know I need to test jump it myself if I want to use it for jumping. But don’t you think it’s a neat concept? We don’t really need an optical viewfinder with a glass prism that weights so much. I can live with manual focus (I don’t know about others on this, because people seem to use auto-focus lately). Like the rangefinder cameras, wide angle lens are so tiny. I don’t know why being not constricted with the length of mirror box makes it easier to design compact wide angle lenses (I don’t know much about designing optics.). But small/light is good for us. By the way, “*your one warning.” make it sound like I said something nasty. You deleted 3 words. I know the phrase was sarcastic. I meant to be. I have seen much more improper languages and comments here...
