I'm looking for a good "out of the box" computer. I've been considering this: http://www.performancepc.net/editing-systems/sc-225.html What do you think? Any other good options. We typically edit some where around 100 videos per week. Using a mix of Go-Pro and sony cameras....

I'm wondering what volume hand-cam DZ's do as far as getting the customer there photo/video packages. For the past two years we edit Sunday nights/Mondays and mail the customers there videos. As the business has grown, it is becoming much harder (if not darn near impossible) for us to keep track of 60+ videos/photos that are shot in a weekend and get them all mailed to the correct address in a timely manner. How do you guys handle this? (keep in mind, its not an option for instructors to edit as they are doing 15+ jumps a day).

this is a long shot, but I need a pre buy done on a Cessna 182 in the Los Angles area and was wondering if any one out there could refer me to a local A&P or IA that might be interested in doing a quick pre buy. Lance

New resources for modifying aircraft for jumping
Skydive2 replied to peek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
wow, wish I would have thought of selling those sooner. Padded floors are super easy and cheap to make. Get some high density foam (no, not your wal-mart stuff) cut it to the pattern of your floor, take it to an upholster have it covered it something that will pass the FAA burn test ( naugahyde works great and is very durable, though a bit more expensive that other alternatives) and bam, you have a plush floor I'm amazed every time I show up to a DZ and see a piece of carpet, or sometimes less, when it is so simple to have something some much better (and alot more professional looking). -

Really? I have a fleet of narrow body A models all with jump paper work. We were figuring it could be easier to use the "proven data" line when applying for the 337 using a similar year/model to the airplane I'm trying to convert? (there is a big difference structurally between an 'A' and 'P' model 182... Lance

I have a 1975 Cessna 182P. The parts manual shows 1969 to 1976 being the same airplane... I'm trying to find another 1975 P model jump plane so we can obtain some 337 info to help in our conversion.

is anyone out there operating a '69-'76 C-182? I need some 337 info

Premise Liability coverage for an airport
Skydive2 replied to Skydive2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
One of the airports I operate at is requiring a basic "premise liability insurance coverage" aka slip a fall type of policy. Can any DZO's refer me to a provider??Even though I'm not requesting any type of coverage for my skydiving business, just a slip and fall policy to satisfy the airport, most providers don't want to insure anything related to a skydiving business. I've talked Jack Harrison (who advertises in parachutist) and his quotes seem on the high side.... -
Idea's for packing hangar floor..carpet...or?
Skydive2 replied to Skydive2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
thanks for the input guys! I had been checking the rubber "gym" flooring, I can't believe how expensive it is, even to do just a 35x40 section. For now...I might keep it old school with carpet and lots of cheap padding under... -
Idea's for packing hangar floor..carpet...or?
Skydive2 replied to Skydive2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We are in the process of fininshing our new hangar which will be used for packing during the day, aircraft stroage at night. It has a concrete floor. I'm looking for idea's for the packing surface. New carpet is really expensive, I've been to DZ's where people mentioned getting "used" carpet. Anyone know where I could look for that? Does anyone have any other solutions for a packing floor? THANKS! -
EXACTLY! Then he was going to make the DZO (who I don't know, so I'm not defending) "the most hated man in skydiving behind SR guys"? Your leasing a fleet of twin otters for a once a year 4 day boogie and your afraid a guy with a C-182 is going to put you under???

After reading many of your posts, I've come to the conclusion that you are PA removed by slotperfect. But seriously you seem to have all the right answers when it comes to running a DZ, who why aren't you in business full time?

Twin Otter -100 -vs- -200 door size
Skydive2 replied to jrsample's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The "better baggage handling" is referring to the fact that the -200 series Otter has a longer noise, which is used as additional cargo storage. There are still some -100 series floating around with the shorter stubby noise.... -
Leasing a non-US registered aircraft
Skydive2 replied to Skydive2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'm most likely looking in the wrong place, but I was wondering if any operates had any hands on experience leasing an aircraft from a foreign county? lance -
do you have a time frame for the first flight? Are you still planning on selling a STCed kit?

Any updates Van? Can't wait to see this in the air!

That's the stupidest thing I've ever read!! so what your saying is next you, or I, have a mal on the main, I need to think, what if I reserve bag locks?? Teach this "theory" to a new AFF student as see how long they stay alive. Weren't you the guy that reviewed precision's "new" tandem main on here a while ago when precision has been making that same tandem main for almost 12 years????
-
does anyone have any experience operation an twin bo? How many gallons per load/per hour? how many loads to 10k per hour. I'm looking at one for a tandem machine...no more than 4 tandems (8 per load)
