  1. Fine, I'll rephrase. Just because the GOVERNMENT warns you they're going to kill you, doesn't make it right. Personally, I did some stupid shit when I was 21. Never a drug smuggler, but other shit, fortunately I didn't get caught. But I do have sympathy for someone who makes a stupid mistake and pays with their life. And I'm of the opinion that maybe Singapore doesn't provide foreign 21 year olds accused of drug smuggling with the most competent legal council. Hell, can you say with certainty that he's really guilty? Yet you're willing to take the singapore gov't word that he should be executed? It's not sympathy you're lacking, it's empathy.
  2. It's a little more complicated than that. Prohibition of alcohol led to the gangs fueled by the black market that existed in the 20s. Prohibition of drugs is the direct cause of the gangs that exist today fueled by that black market. I don't just mean the crime of dealing drugs would go away, all the crimes associated with illegal drugs would go away as well. Right now illegal drug sales fund highly organized domestic street gangs with ties to the mafia. And a lot of the proceeds go overseas to fund rogue elements in other nations as well as terrorist organizations. Alcohol and tobacco sales don't fund the same organizations for one simple reason, they're not sold by criminals. You're right, the drug laws in this country are generally ineffective in preventing anyone from using drugs. Imagine if we took the billions of dollars dedicated to the war on drugs and used it to help people who wanted to get off them. That would go much much further toward reducing drug use, would bring about a drastic reduction in street crime, and would dry up a huge source of revenue for international crime syndicates, terrorists, and warlords. Not to mention that we could pay back that money from the tax proceeds of the drug sales themselves.
  3. Just because someone warns you that they're going to kill you if you do something they don't like, doesn't make it ok. Yeah, you should have known better, but it still doesn't make it right.
  4. I could us a fluffer about now. Here's your best bet.
  5. I fail to see how someone being convicted of a crime demonstrates that their penalty dissuaded them from commiting it. And guess what, I know how to virtually elliminate all drug dealers on every street corner. Legalize it. Sure, it's not as fun as state sponsored execution, but it would actually be more successful in reducing crime.
  6. You're just jealous that there's someone viewed as more insensitive and crass than you. You're slipping. And this post is a poor attempt at reclaiming your crown of shit
  7. Yes, it would be a deterrent. Crime rates were extremely low in the Soviet Union. If you think it's worth it, vote Communist.
  8. How do you motivate that many pot heads at once?
  9. I took twisting arms to be a metaphor for hooking electrodes up to people's genitals. I haven't actually heard about any specific instances of the former, but the latter has been documented by our own gov't. I don't give a shit about college hazing. I care that our vice president has been spending inoridinate amounts of time lobbying to keep torture by agents of out gov't from being criminalized. That's an atrocity in and of itself. And I'm of the opinion that when the CIA keeps classified prisons in eastern european countries and the vp lobbies to keep it legal for the CIA to torture people, that there's a pretty good chance a little more is going on than literal arm twisting. Am I one of the few that can add one to one and get two? I'm sorry that I don't consider humans who don't happen to be Americans to be less human than humans that are Americans. I thought this country was based on basic human rights that are inalienable. Not basic American rights...basic human rights. They apply to everyone, or you aren't honoring the foundation of our nation's existence.
  10. Did you actually check out ALL of Fox news before posting this, or did you jump to conclusions? Type "holiday ornament" in the search bar on their page. I'd post a link, but it doesn't work. Probably why Bill posted the .jpg instead. That's called the boomerang effect...when you try to appear superior and it bites you in the ass.
  11. No, they go to the middle ring of the 7th circle of hell. They are judged slightly worse than murderers, who occupy the top ring of the 7th circle. Suicides are turned into thorny black trees and cruely ruled over by oppresive harpies [Uniquely, among the dead, they will not be bodily reincarnated after the final judgment. While others will continue to occupy Hell (and Heaven) in corporeal (rather than merely spiritual) form, suicides—because they alienated themselves from their own bodies—spend eternity in the body of a tree, their own corpses hanging from the limbs.] http://www.newoxfordreview.org/article.jsp?did=0904-gardiner
  12. Leave it to a lawyer to overlook the obvious shit
  13. photoshop...the dog on right has big shadow from it's ear on the neck, but not casting a shadow on the dog to the left of it.
  14. I stopped in a diner on the way home last week, peeled off my 7 layer of clothes, and got some soup. The guy next to me at the counter said, "Nice bike, getting ready to put it away for the winter soon?" I said, "Put it where? That's my only vehicle." Some people just don't get it. Granted, I walk to work, so don't use it as a daily commuter. But if I go anywhere beyond walking distance, it's on my bike. That especially means Thanksgiving and Christmas when I have to go 60 miles each way to visit family.
  15. yeah..like defending their homeland from foreign invaders. They deserve torture!!!! You asked for examples of people posting in favor of torture, and you post in favor of it yourself. Unreal. I see no difference between those who support torture and those who support terrorism. They all support evil deeds commited against other humans. I don't make a distinction based on the geography of birth as to whether an action is good or bad, I judge the action.
  16. No problem...just so we're clear, you're one of those defending the torturing fuckers on our side. You don't see a problem with Pakistanis twisting arms of some people, but if pakistanis start twisting the arms of Americans, then it's bad. US soldiers aren't innocent people. They're active combatants. So it's ok for the enemy to torture them for info? I don't think it is. You are the one justifying when torture is ok.
  17. Tell the libertarians to drop the party lines of completely open borders, completely unrestricted immigration, completely unrestricted and unregulated trading with other countries, and a few of their other really fucking horrible ideas and I just might go along with you.
  18. Quite a lot. In fact, 24% of DZcom respondents support using torture. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1930533#1930533
  19. You did make the incorrect assumption, specifically about people like that existing widely and on this forum. On this forum we tend to discuss issues that are in contention. It's pretty much universally agreed and understood that the fuckers over there doing their shit bag thing, killing innocent people and beheading journalist is wrong. We don't generally discuss it because no one disagrees that it's wrong. However, there seems to be a lot of people who disagree that when American fuckers torture people, or kill innocent people, that they should be called out on that. Defenders of American fuckers exist widely, and many are on these forums. It's wrong when "they" do it. It's wrong when "we" do it. But I hear a lot of people defending when "we" do it by saying it's ok since "they" do it. I haven't seen anyone defending when "they" do it.
  20. Ever personally see somebody dead or mutilated from fightng to protect that symbol of freedom which represents our ideals and way of life here in America? Protecting our freedom, or ideals and our way of life is admirable. Getting killed or mutilated protecting a piece of cloth that represents those things is a waste and a shame.
  21. I must have read that wrong, it didn't sound like he was trying to put "words" in your mouth...something much more unpleasant
  22. I wouldn't just because it's lame. I don't get upset when I see people burning the US flag. I just think they're idiots. What point does it prove? Flags in general are a silly invention.
