Cheers everyone for the friendly welcome. Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you in person someday on my travels. I see your local is Deland Skymama I got a chance to jump with TK in Zhills years ago and it's on the long finger to hopefully return next winter sometime so must stop by Deland too.

I have a friend who lives in DC and jumps at Orange, Virginia. You might just try posting your inquiry in the "Places to Jump" Forum. I'm sure someone will know better than me. Welcome to the forums! Cheers

(Sorry corny as hell subject but couldn't resist ) Hailing from Dublin in the beautiful Emerald Isle here and hoping to start jumping a bit more in the good old US of A. Only have bout 70 jumps but not current due buying a house a few years ago and other boring financial stuff. The good news is I'm selling some property soon and promised myself a rig and jumping holiday to celebrate (it's been too long ) Hoping some of you could help out with a bit of advice though. I work for United and it's just as cheap for me to fly to the US jumping than somewhere closer like Spain. Any thoughts on the friendliest/closest dzs to Washington DC Dulles or Chicago OHare?? Tips on getting too/from the airports would be appreciated also (mind you if it was on someone's way to the dz I'd be more than happy to contribute gas/jump $$) The plan is for the summer months to skip over every 3 or 4 weeks for a weekends jumping so the less time spent on a plane the more time I can spend jumping out of one! Blue Skies!

Apoil: I have to aggree with what you're writing here. Please people we have just witnesed the most horrific terrorist attack of our time. Let our thoughts be with those who have lost those dearest to them and for God/Allah/Our Own sake please please lets not stir up more hatred. Those responsible will meet justice I am certain, but we have the moral responsibility not to lash out at anyone vaguely similar to those rumoured to have done this. To do so would make us like them.... My prayers are with those who have passed and those who are mourning.

Ummm forgive me for pointing this out... I'm sure you're just trying to brighten everyones day.... but what is the connection between 'Klingon Programming Jokes' and Skydiving? (seeing as this is a skydiving forum and there are lots of non-skydiving joke site out there) Don't get me wrong though! If it's a skydiving joke I'd love to hear it, but otherwise this is waaaaaaaayyyyy off topic I reckon. :)

Have you ever noticed that if you're standing in the middle of the library, look out the window and scream "AAAAARRRGGGHH" everyone looks at you like you're a freakin' maniac.. but if you do the same on a 747 everyone *joins in*!... Think about it.....

This is a damn shame It really bothers me to see this kind of operation especially when it is some-ones first introduction to the sport Myself and my girlfriend are planning a break in Vegas around Oct/Nov and I had it in mind to get her a tandem as a surprise but you can scratch that idea now. Thanks for the warning folks I would have kicked my-self if this had been her baptism into Skydiving!

freaksister: whilst i hadn't jumped in that time i kept in contact with the sport through the net, the usual mags and the folks down at the club. I had a chat with one of the AFF instructors and we went through all the safety stuff, since I was giving all the right answers he decided to bring me up to do a half-series (linked exit, released me staight away, practise pull, alt-check, backloop and recover ,whee!, alti-check, right-turn, alti-check, left-turn, alti, forward to instructor, alti, wave-off at 5 grand and pull, woowhoo!) It went fine but i was a bit wobbly in free-fall. The solo yesterday morning was much better. It felt great to turn where i wanted to much smoother.. I kinda favour rw so after a couple more solos practising my body pos i'll get one of the lads to do some 2-way instructional with me and then work from there
