You're right, the act of base jumping itself is not illegal except in some national parks, but you normally have to do something illegal to do it, like trespassing. The point I was trying to make is that base jumpers as a rule try to keep a low profile. I just don't think it would be a good idea for the reasons I already stated. Hackey

Here's the problem with a base jumping web site. In most places base jumping is illegal. Law enforcement officials would be watching this site like a hawk or maybe just visiting the site pretending to be a base jumper to get leads on base jumpers. You have to be extremely careful with something like that. Hackey

She definitely looks good enough to eat! Hackey

Thanks for the good info. We should probably also get this posted in the safety and training forum. Hackey

Weber is right on. Chicagoland Skydiving in Hinkley is pretty cool too. Skydive Illinois is now under new ownership. One of the staff intructors bought it and we're looking forward to some exciting things happening next season! The new owner wants to focus on better load organizing and customer service. Also, from past experience, I know he's really into barbecues so we'll have more of those in the future. I look forward to meeting you up here! Hackey

Appology accepted, brother!! We've all said or done things and later regretted it. It's just part of what it is to be human. Blue skies!! Hackey

Yes, I learned that lesson while I was still a student. Broken tibia, torn tendon, surgery, permanent metal plate. Ground hard. Must flare. Hackey

Sorry about that! I guess the files you're sending must be pretty big because I had about 1.8 megs of space left on my account. I got rid of some old stuff so now I have 2.7 megs left. It should work now, but if it doesn't you can send it to thackman2@juno.com. I don't have any storage limit on that account. Thanks bro! Hackey

I know how that goes! When you ask an engineer and an accountant what's two plus two, the engineer will answer four. The accountant will answer "what do you want it to be?". LOL! Seriously though, I would imagine not only Enron's management will be in trouble, but what about the accounting firm that audits their financial statements and expresses an opinion on them, as required by the SEC? You can't tell me they didn't know what was going on. I wouldn't mind getting a good look at Enron's last annual report. Hackey

That doesn't look anything like Skydive Chicago. Maybe the old Skydive Chicago...I never went there. Hackey

I think you would have much better luck posting this in our classified ads, which are free. Hackey

OK, maybe I should have been a little more precise. I just assumed that you would know that I meant a BOC throw out pilot chute. That's what they use for every student jump at Skydive Chicago and Skydive Illinois. The student rigs are designed so the instructor can pull the pilot chute out for the student from either side if the need arises. It just seems to me that it makes more sense to train with what's pretty much become the industry standard, or at least the most common deployment method, rather than learning with a ripcord and then having to "unlearn" it. Skydive Chicago has been teaching students for years from level one with a BOC throw out sytem with no problems. Hackey

With the exception of two tandem jumps, I have never used a ripcord in my life. They start all students at Skydive Chicago with BOC systems. It's the same at Skydive Illinois. Why learn something that will have to be unlearned anyway? As far as spring loaded pilot chutes and ripcords on reserves, that's a good idea because it gets the PC out quicker, and is also better from an unstable body position, which if you're pulling your reserve you're probably not stable. Go to this link http://www.afn.org/skydive/rw/bbmsc/history/ It gives the complete background. Hackey

I got my SCR number in the mail yesterday! I am now SCR # 14418! Yes, that's my SCR number not my zip code. LOL. Hey Pammi, did you get yours yet? Hackey

Yes, this was a high speed malfunction but it was a pilot malfunction not an equipment malfunction. It's what we used to call in the army "operator head space" or "brain cramp". Hackey

Sorry to hear about that. Here's what I would do though...put aside all the money you would have spent on jumps anyway into your DZ account...so when you come back you can jump your ass off!! Also, finish learning to pack so you can get your A license. I'm sure you can at least do that even if you can't skydive. Hackey

Holy shit! It's a life size replica of rgoper's ..... never mind. Hackey

XRT rocks!! If you ever make it back here give me a heads up before you come! Hackey -
I totally agree. Sounds like he's insecure about his teenie weenie. It's very appropriate that his name is Richard, he really is a dick. Maybe his middle name should be "cranium"! As far as him not wanting to post here anymore that's great! Please do us a favor and stay away! What a loser! Hackey

I would never appoligize for swearing. If those are the words I need to use to adequately express my feelings, then god damn it I'm gonna fucking swear! NOT sorry, Mrs. Radloff, GET OVER IT! We're all adults here. Hackey
