    I read once that the creation of the Liberatarian Party was one of the worst things that ever happened to the liberatarian movement. It stripped some of the best, or at least most vocal out of the Republican party and put them in a position to be ignored rather than keep them where they had any sort of power. It also put the social conservatives (religious zealots) in the driver's seat in the Republican party. ------------------------------------------------------- "These are the old days, the bad days, the all-or-nothing days.     Pat Buchanan is the Republican party's version of Howard Dean. The difference being the Republicans are smart enough to keep Buchanan out of any position of power.     I'm a law student who has just finished my Torts class. Which was taught by a professer from the U.K. by the way. One of the subjects we covered was defamation (i.e. libel and slander). He said that U.K. common law did not recognize truth as a defense and that was the way the courts handled it. Now maybe my British law professer was wrong about British law. It's possible. But I'm thinking he probably has a better grasp of the law than most.     Of course the difference between the American libel laws and those of the U.K. is that in America truth is a defense, and in the U.K., it is not. Meaning in the U.S. if the bad things you say about a person are true, you are not guilty of libel. In the U.K. it does not matter if what you say is true. That was the problem the Telegraph ran into. It was more a problem that they said something bad about Galloway, it did not matter that it was true. ------------------------------------------------------- "These are the old days, the bad days, the all-or-nothing days.     I went through undergrad at a state school using the G.I. Bill and working, so I didn't owe anything. The bad news is I'm going to a private law school (Chapman) and my scholership was only good for a year, so I'm going to be up to my eyeballs by the time I'm done. ------------------------------------------------------- "These are the old days, the bad days, the all-or-nothing days.     I took it in 1990. Presumably the test has not changed much since then. The test is actually based off Russian language style grammer. I remember hearing this was because it was so different from the grammer/work order English speakers were used to. I went to DLI in Monterey, CA for Russian, and a classmate of mine retook it for some strange reason and recognized the similarity. Good Luck.
