I don't think the BPA has stopped anybody jumping, to be fair...how many jumpers do you know with less than 50 jumps, that aren't students, who jump their own gear without an AAD? I think the display rule is silly though...how many display jumpers a) do high-risk freefall collison jumps, or b) are stupid enough not to pull? --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies

My insurance to jump out of a plane, which is far more dangerous than driving a car, is currently over 20 times cheaper than my third party car insurance. We just don't realise how lucky we are to get year round insurance for £50!!! --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies

OK, I call bullshit...There has been one (unconfirmed in person on here) anomalous in-air activation of a production Vigil. There has also been one Vigil Save (at around 1100ft), roughly the same height as a Cypres would have fired, which would have been called a Cypres Save...Please feel free to point out the other mid-air activations of production Vigils I appear to be missing. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! UK...BPA propose manditory AADs on all jumpers below B licence
meatbomb replied to gerrcoin's topic in Gear and Rigging
Skydive Strathallan for one! We do about 1200 first timers a year, about 400 of which are rounds on front and back kit. -
Sounds chilly.... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies

I've always had a problem with this logic...Manually popping the pin to open the container, then deploying the pilot chute is how EVERY other method of personal deployment works. Static line (direct bag and pilot chute assist), freefall ripcord, and ALL reserves work the same as pull-out...Are you saying that only throw aways and tandem main deployments are proper deployments????? Edit: for spelling. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies

From what I recall from the last postings, he was on front and back kit, and this took place many years ago, when men were men, and first freefalls started at 2"200ft... (We still put our round first freefallers out at 2"500ft) --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies

Technically, in the UK, it should be done by an Advanced Packer or above. But I second Bill Von's sentiments, get Richie Rich or H to show you how to do it, or at least watch them

A Teardrop SF, when built specifically for the canopies, is a snug fit, and easy to pack. Mine is a Tempo 210 / Sabre 190, build, and I now have a Crossfire2 169 in it. It's gorgeous. I'll try and find a photo for you... --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies

are aads becoming mandatory in usa
meatbomb replied to Jumpmunki's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Extract from the STC minutes...so, the only extra people it is now mandatory for are 'A' Licence Holders and those doing demos. Also, this has not yet been passed, it first needs to be ratified by STC on 08/04/2004, then at the next Council meeting. --- Swoopert, CS-Aiiiiiii! Piccies -
