  1. I am very familiar with the decisions involved in "Do i register my AR15 in a state known for radical gun law changes. Or do i just not register it?" First month living in CA after the military, my VA provided therapist that was working on my PTSD symptons with me, who also happened to be a reserve police officer and a vet, advised me that if it were him, he wouldn't register them. Further proof of what happens in reality. Gun laws are just that, laws. Laws are broken by a lot of people everyday. some big and most little. I view this as a little one coming from my experience of living all over the country in different states, none of which ever asked me to register my guns. Just because I had PTSD symptoms for a few years doesn't mean i'm crazy and it doesn't mean i should be blacklisted for life from owning a firearm. That's just nonsense. Now if i had been committed and diagnosed as a threat to society somehow. Yeah blacklist my butt. By the same token, any of the millions of people diagnosed with clinical depression that take anti depressants should by the previously stated guidance, be forever blacklisted from firearm ownership.
  2. I think you're missing a comma in your new sig. LOLOLOL unless that was the kitchy point you were making.
  3. Just to be clear. I don't know any of you personally. I rather enjoy the banter of this section. No hard feelings on my part. Why would i be frustrated about such things when i have a weekend full of fun with my friends at the dropzone planned? just sayin.. you guys/gals are all ok in my book.
  4. I am not defending illegal gun ownership. I was simply stating that if it is illegal or not does ZERO to stop someone, mentally insane or not, from purchasing a firearm. It's just called reality. So on the mental side of things. I, as previously mentioned, am a combat vet and i have been treated for PTSD for several years. I can and do still buy guns legally. Should i no longer be allowed to own a firearm because i have a flag in the system as a "Nutter" as you so eloquently put it? I'll go back to my original question: If today, a nationwide ban on all gun ownership was put into effect, how long do you think it would be before all gun related homicides in America stopped? This really was one of my only points i was trying to initially make.
  5. LOL. even if you don't agree, i think you may be able to see the point im trying to make. BTW. I absolutely love where I live and wont ever move, i also enjoy not dying because i can't defend myself. I've been shot at, ive been mortared and rocketed. Death at the hand of another is not something i will ever be ok with. I also carry when i go hiking in the mountains to protect myself against other people as well as wild animals. Ooops there i go being a criminal again i guess
  6. SMH Did you exceed the speed limit today at all? Did you maybe look at your phone while driving? Do you always use your turn signal? you're a criminal then. Lock em up. If i need to carry one of my legally purchased firearms with me to an exceedingly dangerous area of town I will, even without having a concealed carry permit. You come to California and tell me that getting a concealed carry license is something any upstanding citizen can do. I am a military combat vet with a flawless record and even i can't get a concealed carry permit because of the "Laws" that you don't think exist. So should i be in prison because of the choice i make to position myself to defend my life and my family?
  7. sorry, but that is a horrible solution. prisons are already overcrowded and filled with people that don't need to be there. Sapping resources from our taxpayer pool of funding. What about people that are illegally carrying but are good people simply trying to protect themselves any way they can? sorry joe citizen, ten year mandatory sentence. f that
  8. how about closing the similar gap of criminals with guns? impossible gap to close. If someone wants gun it is not very hard to get one, legally or illegally. I grew up in an area where guns were normal. I used to carry my illegally purchased firearm with me everywhere when i was 16. not hard to buy a gun in America. No legislation will ever change that.
  9. That actually helps make my point. Those are some of the many types of people that will simply not give up their gun ownership rights even if a nationwide ban was implemented,
  10. my simple point: BAN all firearms in America today. As in right this second, outright ban all firearms in all capacities. How long until all gun violence stops in America? Trick question, never. Their are millions of guns in private ownership and millions of people that will never surrender their rights to own firearms and defend themselves and what they perceive as their individual freedoms. Pass whatever laws you want. It will NEVER change a thing in todays America. I mean, is someone literally going to kick in my door and search my entire house for all of my firearms? Even the ones I have hidden in secret compartments around my house? Good luck with that.
  11. Sounds like a US MIL issue ALICE pack would be pretty good for your needs. Might be a little big but you can reconfigure them in lots of different ways.
  12. http://ogio.com/rig-9800/ this one is at the top of my list. Very large capacity(122L) and tons of excellent reviews.
  13. Great positives!!! I do like permaculture a lot. It seems to be something that requires a decent amount of know how to sucessfully execute. I personally enjoy wiping my raised beds clean at the end of the season and then starting with a blank slate each growing season. I do have numerous permaculture style plantings though. tons of fruit trees, permaculture herb garden, blueberries as decorative shrubs, and a few other things. I do love the soil restorative factors that play into permaculture and minimal tilling gardening
  14. kind of like saying 'freeflying is the only way.' 'Relative work is the only way', 'wingsuit flying is the only way'. Plus' and minus' are found in all choices.
  15. Consensual non monogamy is considerably easier than trying to be a cheating spouse.
  16. technically if all you want is eggs from your hens you could go ahead and whack all the males. no rooster needed for the girls to still do their jobs. shhhhh, don't tell
  17. very true point. Just like any other regulatory body in the US, there is of course special interest groups and lobbyists that want to control the way things are regulated. Sad state of affairs but reality. Someone could drive themselves crazy if they spent all their time trying to eat nothing but sustainably raised meat and produce. It's a give and take in my opinion. if organic is available right next to conventional i will typically just go organic but if it's not available then i will just buy what is available.
  18. this is exactly why it's ideal to have some sort of relationship with the farmer or rancher that actually grew or raised your food. You dont have to be best pals but looking a farmer in the eye and asking how his food is produced sure as heck beats reading a label and hoping that it represents what you are hoping it does.
  19. Ahh, what a fun topic. Great arguements from both sides. I too more align my practices with sustainability over organic or conventional farming practices. At this point in northern california the "organic" label is not an easy one to get. More often than not, local small scale farmers are not up for the cost of the red tape to be labeled organic so they focus on natural and sustainable practices and then pass that on to the consumers. The vast majority of farmer and rancher friends i have where i live are not "Organic" but instead market their products as sustainably and naturally grown in the true sense of the terms not the walmart version of "Natural"
  20. Did someone say "That Guy"?
  21. Obviously i don't know you or your background. Nothing personal at all. Maybe you should read up a little on what Organic agriculture practices actually are and what they aren't. http://www.usda.gov/wps/portal/usda/usdahome?contentidonly=true&contentid=organic-agriculture.html http://ofrf.org/organic-faqs https://attra.ncat.org/organic.html Beyond that, i don't have the energy today to argue the meaning of words. I do hope you have a great day and have some great jumps this weekend.
  22. btw glyphosate is actually a synthetic analogue of a naturally occuring amino acid. synthesized, altered and sold by monsanto.
  23. once in 2 years. Only because i dropped my hive tool down into the hive accidentally and when i reached in to grab it i got wopped on the hand since i dont wear gloves. To the other fella, yes those are organic compounds allright. So is uranium, plutonium, arsinic, lead, etc etc. So i guess since uranium is technically an organic it's cool to use on my tomatoes right? Organic agriculture does not imply that all Organic compounds are fair game or safe, it is specifically referring to the style of agriculture.
  24. I would challenge you to take a full look at backyard beekeeping. I have 1 large hive and will be splitting in later this year into two. Beekeeping takes very little of my time. I typically leave them alone for about a month or so depending on the season. I will be checking them this weekend but the last time i opened the hive was a month ago. Only takes about 15 minutes to open them up and inspect. I love beekeeping. It has made the biggest difference in my gardens overall production. My fruit and citrus trees are insane and all my tomato, squash and pepper plants are basically producing so much i just give away fresh prodcue to my friends and neighbors. If you or anyone reading this wants info on getting started beekeeping i would be happy to help guide.
  25. Awesome. I studied sustainable agriculture for 2.5 years and i am a pretty intensive gardener and beekeeper. I could argue organic vs conventional farming methods for days. There are good arguements for both. Without modernization of farming we would not be able to feed the exponentially growing population but in my opinion that's not a good enough reason to throw out logic and use products like roundup on massive scales and to create such a large number of GMO crops. I won't say all GMO are bad but there are plenty that are.
