  2. Michael, you are way out of line on this one, lets face it not only have you a tiny fracton of the experiance of Sparky, you don't even hold any ratings, not even an Advanced Packer rating let alone any Rigging ratings. You aren't even currently a BPA member. So all your "observations are based on pure speculation and not at all on experiance. Nobody in their right mind would pop thier reserve "just to see". _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba

  4. Ever do a demo into Compton CA. ? I've always said that demo jumping is dangerous, but thats a new twist. _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  5. Well I wasn't making any comment about who can and can't do it nor was I trying to interpret the FARs as they don't apply here or in several other countries. I was simply pointing out that the in some countries you would not need to be a master rigger to do that work. Remember not everybody who reads dropzone.com is in the USA _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  6. Not for everybody, only until you've got your B licence (50 jumps, CH2 and JM1 plus already having your A licence). Good idea to have one though. Although it is mandatory at some drop zones for everybody Hi Liz how's life in the real world? _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  7. Of course that is true under FAA rules, but not all rigger work to FAA rules, In the BPA system for instance that would not be Advanced Rigger work! Well said! _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba

  10. [replyI agree. Remember, though, that the Sigma manual was created as a suppliment to the Vector tandem manual. Fair point but. . . the Sigma manual doesn't say so. also the Sigma is supplied with only the Sigma manual. I know there are a lot of people out there with enough experiance to know to use "that type of band" or "pack the drouge this way". I also know there are just as many or more that don't have that experiance. Some of those will go find sombody who knows but the others, well.... These are the guys who just make it up and reinvent the wheel, unfortunatly they often invent a square one. Maybe I'm just getting nostalgic but it seems to me, kit manuals used to have a wealth of useful info in them and now they just seem to say stuff like "pack in the normal manner" _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  11. No not at all. I wasn't doubting they made the statement, just observing that I couldn't find it. I tend to go with the manuals, although intrestingly the new Sigma manual is nowwhere near as detailed as the Vector Tandem 2 manual. It doesn't have detailed line drawings of the drouge packing for instance, and no mention of what type of stow bands to use. _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba

  14. Ok maybe I should have asked that in another way! How about, why would you want to go ignore what Sunpath say about the H/C's that they make, have the patterns for, did all the test jumps on, hold the tso for ect. Does anybody consider that having an oversized main stuffed in a container might have an effect on reserve deployment, say in the event of a total. Or even that you are going to ruin a good container by stressing the seams of the flaps, the stiffeners, the grommets. I could go on about this, but I suppose if people didn't ignore what the manufactures say, then I wouldn't have been making a living repairing needless damage for the last 15 years _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  15. what makes you think it's a recommendtion as opposed to min and max sizes? _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  16. I agree with a lot of what mick said but it makes me wonder if it's a major change how they managed to do it with The Mirage and the Wonderhog/Vector to name only two containers that have gone through "minor" changes _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  17. Pdf Are not doing to well on addressing saftey issues, anybody else seen this attachments? _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  18. I think so too, but of course there are alot of people who would see less repacks a year purely as a reduction in income, thats a shame but all the arguments I see against extending reserve repacks are based on suppersition, where as the arguments for tend to be based on actual research. People have said for years that longer repacks are unsafe! the simple fact is this statement just does not bear examnation. As you can see in the pia docs, little wear comes from the actual use. _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  19. All the research I've seen indicates that almost all the damage to reserves including wear is caused during repacks. so much so that one report refered to in the PIA/USPA application for a reserve repack extention to a 6 month cycle, says that as few as 19 repack can cause wear in the fabric to the extent that it would fail permability test required for it meet the PIA spec. Other report indicate that even fairly new reserves after relativley few repacks have altered flight caracteristics, worth thinking about if you have a tiny reserve! _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba

  22. You're kidding right? Good points, how about this and I'm not making this up. I had a rig for a I+R and the ripcord extended 1 1/2 inches past the handle, thats past the bottom of the handle, total excesss of about 5 1/2 ". I contacted the manufacture who told me the ripcord should be X length from tip to ball, I mesured the ripcord and it was exactly the right length. According to everybody who say ask the manufacture I should return that to service as is? _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  23. Ok so you say two inches, why is 1 too short and is 3 too long again why? _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
  24. I have never found any where in a manual that states what the excess should be, and manufactures have sent me replacments that differed in lenght from the original even after quoting serial numbers. _________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
