  1. Not neccessarily. There are only so many competent leaders...you keep wiping out the top, and eventually lesser qualified people have to take over. We in America like wiping out the enemy's top brass...look what we went through to get Yamamoto in WWII. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  2. Mirage has a great website. They give a lot of information in the form of tours and pictures of features and options on their rigs...along with an easy to use rig coloring feature. I spent a lot of time on there...and then bought a Vector 3 Mirage also has different homepages depending on why you are there. If you hit the technical specs button on the intro page, you get sent to a homepage with rigging tips, service bulletins, etc. Hit the shopping button and the homepage has ordering and finance info. PD has a cool coloring program on their site. I used the Sabre2 template to choose the colors for my Safire2...you can use their Reserve template for BASE canopies. 3. I am looking at a used Javelin J7 with a Glide Path, Sharpshooter, 245 sq/ft. reserve, manufactured 11/94. Can someone enlighten me a little bit...just want to make sure these aren't known as total death traps or anything Thanks Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

    Matter Sale

Well, I ordered a pair this evening...or I guess I ordered two pairs. 85 Euros for two pairs of Freefly pants and free shipping on top of that was just too sweet of a deal to pass up. I'll post an update on shipping times and such upon receipt. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  6. Mossberg 590 12gauge - 20" barrel 9 shot capacity, or 18.5" barrel 6 shot capacity. Can be configured with ghost ring sights. Mossberg 590 was the first pump action 12 guage to pass MilSpec testing. Remington 870 12 gauge is an alternative. 3" 00 buck loads in the chamber. If you are really small, don't BELIEVE you can handle the recoil, or want a chick to be able to effectively employ it, you might be better off with a 20 gauge. I'd also attach a super brite light system in the pump handguard...identifies as well as temporarily disorients target. Rifle - Semi auto, like others have said, an AR15 based varient. Heavy barrel. Variety of targeting systems available, but a nice 3 power works well for urban warfare scenarios. 5.56 round will defeat most BP vests, and will effectively penetrate vehicles. Oh yeah, it will work well on varmits. Bolt action - I love .22-250s. One of the flattest shooting rounds out there. I had one set up on an old Mauser action. One of the ultimate varmit rounds. It never hurt to have a .40 cal Glock or SigSauer, either full framed or compact, with a couple clips of Corbon or Black Talon rounds. And a snub nose .357 with Federal 125grain +P JHP ammo makes a great ankle backup. But truth be told, in lesser trained hands a shotgun is a far superior weapon than a pistol for close combat. 7. I know a guy in his mid eighties that flew whatever the equivelant of a DC3 is in the Army Air Corps. He dropped of paratroopers on rounds and in gliders on D-day, dropped the first supplies into Bastogne, yada yada, yada. He had an overnight in an area the Nazis had just beat feet from, and was asked if he wanted to see "The Camps". It was a camp that had been found two days before. He talks of the bodies being packed like logs in front of the ovens. Down the road were some massive pits/pools filled with lye, with once again hundreds of bodies stacked like logs....apparently this was a lesser known way that bodies were disposed of. 8. Ford or Chevy? If it's Ford, good luck getting anything fixed under warranty. My brother has a 2001 Ford Lightning that needed a new engine 2 years ago (after 29000 miles on the original ). It took a year and a half and a lawsuit to get it fixed. I've had a 94 Ford SVT Cobra and a 01 SS Camaro. I felt my Ford was put together better than my Chevy. The fit/finish on exterior and interior pieces was better...and my Ford was 7 years older. They both had transmissions made by Borg Warner...or was it Tremec...I don't remember, as one company purchased another way back when. Chevy seems to like to waste space with the way they shape their body panels, and they have horrible blind spots (Vettes, Camaros). Ford has had problems in the past with their SVT lines. They got sued over 99 Cobras not producing the stated flywheel HP. Had to recall them and put in new, lower flowing exhaust systems to barely cover it. They have had problems with the Lightning motors as well. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  9. LOL...I used to see the torque vs HP debates on Mustang and SS Camaro websites. I have a 4 door now... 5.5L 24-valve V-8 469 hp @ 6,100 rpm 516 lb-ft @ 2,650 - 4,500 rpm 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds 1/4 in 12.4 seconds 4/50,000 mile warranty Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  10. It happens with car accidents...they just rephrase it - "investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor." The circumstances surrounding a skydiving fatality on a city street are bound to be more suspect than an car accident. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  11. My Flik or RockDragon BASE canopy will be 266 square feet - with longer, mucho thicker lines to go with it. I want to do a bunch of hop and pops with my actual BASE canopy before I take a first jump course in the Spring. I want to learn to land this canopy where I want on rear risers in armor on a grass strip with a wind sock...as opposed to a parking lot or boulder field Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  12. My goal was to not break myself. I have been somewhat successful, although my cocyx may disagree due to an incident on jump 32... I tried to mess myself up a couple of other times as well, but my awesome PLF skills just wouldn't let it happen Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  13. I am looking to buy a container specifically for some hop and pops...with a 266 BASE canopy. I am ~6' on the nose and 165-170#'s. I think anything I find on the used market will require getting a bunch of rigging done so that it will fit me, as most people with canopies this size will be much larger than myself. Who makes the cheapest custom container that will hold a 266 main with thick lines and whatever size reserve? Doesn't have to be freefly friendly, doesn't need any special options. 15. LOL...I'm trying to figure out how to use it myself. I looked at some exit points in MOAB earlier. Then I tried to check out this A...Google Earth is only 50-50 for me at the moment Type in coordinates or a city, etc. Then I use my mouse wheel to zoom in. You can tilt to change the elevation of your eye level etc. This is a city/county owned tower...Homeland Security must be able to edit out whatever they deem necessary. I'll PM the coordinates and ground crew for whoever is interested though. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  17. This thing has been there a long time. And the imagery of my area isn't very old...a year and a half max. I can tell by the construction on a hospital less than about 1/2 mile away. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary

  19. There is a 90+ meter A close to my business. It has been wiped off of Google Earth...completely non-existent. Is this common? Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  20. The load organizers are there to get people to jump more...by getting groups together and trying their best to present everyone on the dive (of various skill levels) with somewhat of a challenge. On slower days, you might be able to get in several one on one jumps with the LO's. Free coaching minus video. Occasionally Stroup or Chisholm will wear a camera for Freefly LO jumps and give you a debrief for the hell of it. Perris is paying their slot...and probably hooking them up with free tickets on the back end as well. So you technically don't owe them anything but a thanks. That being said, everyone loves beer. Congrats on the A. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  21. I would guess it's ok to do it head up...it would be twice as hard, why not? I would imagine if you looked to the list of B license holders, you could find quite a few that could get the A head up. I'd bet money that my freefly coach John Chisholm could pass the A head up no sweat... You want to really narrow that list down, how many people could pass the B test head up? 22. I guess if I want to travel to other DZ's where I don't know the S&TA's I should get it...seems to me a log book verifying jump #'s AND currency would be more applicable. That open field/level one demo is the only thing I can find that you actually NEED a C for...high altitude and camera jumps it is merely a recommendation. I actually tried to take the C exam at the same time as my B exam (~150 jumps), but apparently a Regional Director told the S&TA I am familiar with that the USPA frowns upon license exams taken before the minimum jump numbers have been met now. Seems like a stupid policy to me because what possible harm could come out of being able to pass a knowledge based test early? There are no requirements as to when you can complete your eight way or in air test. Or when your 2m accuracy landings start. Making you wait to take the test in essence probably causes more people to wait longer before they open their SIMs and study for the next level. Now I don't even want to waste my time taking the exam... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  23. Come on dude, I'm an apsiring freeflyer dude...the only video I like is when I'm in it dude I guess it would "technically" allow me to land in a field with closer obstacles...but that's something either you can do, or not do...license has no bearing on the final outcome of that scenario. 24. Dude, you're doing fine. Keep jumping with video, and one day you'll just feel how to push down on those feet and it will all click. Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
  25. I'm just in this as a fun jumper...only want to freefly out of/off of things. Why bother getting anything more than a B, which lets me jump at night? Hell, I haven't even sent in my B paperwork yet... Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
