Film warns about binge drinking The film is designed to make young people think before binge drinking A group of teenagers in Dorset have made a film to warn others about the dangers of binge drinking. The short movie will be shown to school children in Weymouth in the hope they will respond to seeing people their own age discuss the issue. The youngsters involved in producing the piece all had first-hand experience of the consequences of excess drinking. Mark Foy, one of the actors, said he hoped the film would help teenagers think before they drink too much. Mako Harriott, also in the film, told BBC News: "Everyone's going to try drink at some point, but it's just stupid some of the stuff you can get yourself into under the influence of alcohol." Christine McIntyre, producer, said: "It's very powerful, it's just a great way to actually get kids involved and get them addressing issues. "They very often don't even realise they've addressed it, they've just done it through taking part." Excessive drinking by young people led to a 20% rise in hospital admissions in England over the last five years, according to a BBC investigation last year. Quite funny in some respects to see most countries view us Brits as bunhc of drunken boozers, yet disappionting our other cultural heritage and antional treasures we possess./ But ever since Caesar said we drank too much, i guess we aint changed. Ok, im sure everyone has either done something stupid on the firts date which made the other walkaway in disgust or Vice Versa Well, for me, erm it was a fart!!! Are you implying a indirect hint that it is impossible to get it done? I mean i see your point if thats it - easy to talk on paper, hard to accomplish. Yet however so it is played or by whom, even if only a few DZ's adopt it, surely it is a step in the right direction? IMHO, its certainly a far better step than bannnig it like Eloy, regardless of the goo dintention behind it or the economic factors behind it. Of course eahc DZO should be allowed his personal chocie whether to permit such activities, after all it is his/her DZ. Yet aren't we supposed to be developing and continuing with innovation?

Maybe the biggest factor in resolving this would be education - more emphasis on prevention - i.e. teaching people who cant land very well (myself included) to follow patterns, and a more proactive way of calmnig down the hotheads. Then, at least, everyone is doing their bit instead of blaming each other.?

Wouldn't a good rule be to make each DZO and safety officer carry out a risk assessment at each DZ, and then depending on its size make recommendations?? After all a Cesna DZ has less risk of collisions like this than sya Deland Langar or Eloy. That way each individal circumsatnce is considered.?

Another thing i guess, if it was banned at some place - wouldn';t that cause more danger cso people would lose currency and the knack and instinct required to survive. And then boom more fatalities and more regs

Too add to our point, a widespread ban would just be stupid since many DZ's use small aircraft with possibly only a swooper or two on each lift - say one tandem and two way. At our DZ with a 15 seater aircraft all swoopers are down first so it never is an issue. I guess its just huge DZ's that need to lead the way rather than ban
