I have a friend that has actually worked on P-51s for a couple of museums. He told me that the tab on the elevator really isn't a trim tab, but an actual control surface that makes the elevator move. How I understood it was (I am NOT an aviation mechanic by the way!! ) as the pilot puts input into the elevator, the tab moves, therefore moving the entire elevator. Does this sound right??? Or am I waaay off?? Thanks Ryan
  3. For Real???? Trust me, you will not be discriminated against for not having "Veteran" on your license. Do you feel left out because I have an Active Duty ID card??? Dont see your point of view at all.

  10. A tornado hit my hometown of Kalamazoo MI when I was 10 or 11...so that would be 1981 or 82...cant remember excatly. It was scary, the tornado missed my neighborhood, but we walked through the hardest hit. It was devasting. Just seeing the houses torn off foundations, the way the mud splattered everything and the smallest objects became projectiles. I saw the tornado touch down and I was frozen with fear. I was standing in front of a huge plate glass window too....wow that was not a good idea. Im glad you are ok. My prayers are with you. glad to be here!!
  11. OMG that is the coolest thing I've seen. Went below 2 grand one time..scared the shit out of me. I might copy that idea.....at least I admit it!!!!! glad to be here!!
  12. The FLESHLIGHT!!! Its the best $60.00 I've ever spent. My marriage is circling the drain so sex is not happening at all. The fleshlight is the bomb.......feels really good. glad to be here!!
  13. Wow, that is a good line-up of aircraft. I am surprised none of them are from the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. I volunteered there for 5 years from 87 to 91. glad to be here!!
  14. That is some of the funniest shit I have read in awhile. I am a platoon sergeant, and i here all the bullshit troops try to say or use to get out of the crap they get themselves into. That was AWESOME!!!! Ryan glad to be here!!
  15. Oh yeah, another year break for a broken Tibia, it was a static line jump (an Army jump, they suck!!). glad to be here!!
  16. I have had several breaks due to finances, family etc. So far I am at over a year since my last skydive. I have three kids now and JUST returned from an Iraq deployment 13 days ago. I really want to get back into it, but right now my kids are my biggest priority. I missed them so much during my deployment. My wife is also working now (she started back 2 months ago) and she does a lot of traveling. Hopefully I can get back and jump a little this summer. I miss it, but like you said, it is expensive and the dropzone is 2.5 hour drive. You can always talk s@#t in the Bonfire though, I also really like to read the safety and training forums, that kind of keeps jumping/procedures in my head (even though nothing compares to the real thing). later Ryan glad to be here!!
  17. Hey, quick question.... Is there a difference between an ECG and an EKG? I had an EKG last week (that is a long story....), but when I looked at the machine, it said ECG on the side. The nurses kept calling it an EKG. They hooked me up with 12 leads. What exactly does an EKG do anyway? I went to sick call to have my blood pressure checked, it was a little high (not hypertensive), but they insisted on giving my an EKG. It really freaked me out!! Thanks glad to be here!!
  18. They've got to making this shit up. My daughter is in second grade, there is no way she and her friends would be capable of stuff like this.... This has to be BS.
  19. COOL.... As soon as I get back, I will jump out of it. Should be back in June.
  20. Why do bad things happen to such good people?? I will miss Lee, Every time I went to the Farm he made me laugh, my kids loved him too. One time I was on the way to the plane to do a hop-n-pop, he stopped me and let me jump his brand new rig, with a brand new Sabre 2 in it. He hardly new me, but he noticed I was jumping an older canopy and offered to let me give his a try. Other than fighting a few tension knots, it was awesome. He was a good guy and will be missed. Blue Skies dude!!!!
  21. Thank you!! Appreciate the support, there are guys here doing a lot more dangerous stuff than me, they deserve all the credit. Thanks
  22. Well, been here about a month. It's about 9 pm, about 85 degrees, a light breeze. Actually kind of pleasant out. Been without a skydive for 5 months, made my last one before I left for the train-up in early May. Miss it bad, cannot wait to go on leave and jump again
  23. I am stationed in Iraq. The other day I was talking to a group of British soldiers. I was astonished to hear that they are not allowed to wear their uniforms off base! They get harrassed if they wear uniforms in public. I do not understand that. Not everyone in the US agrees with why we are here, but at least we are supported (people shaking our hands in airports etc). My hat is off to the British soldiers. They still have a great attitude and are a lot of fun to work with.
  24. A neighbor of mine bought a car 2 weeks ago on ebay. ( I was out of town) He has had A LOT of problems. The car was not in nearly in as good condition as advertised, plus in "did not drive right". He checked car fax etc. Somehow he managed to track down the previous owner of the vehicle. When he started asking questions about the car, the lady said, "I do not know how you bought that car. My daughter was killed in that car and the car was totaled." So needless to say, someone bought the car, fixed it and sold it with a new title. Anyway, I have heard some good and bad, but a car is a complex machine and buying one online that you cannot drive or check out first would be risky in my opinion.
