Not going to comment on your friend, just the way you handle girls :p http://www.dn.se/polopoly_fs/1.799691!image/4107486354.gif_gen/derivatives/article-landscape/4107486354.gif It's not in English but it's pretty self-explanatory!

7 people doesn't really make for reliable statistics

I think you forgot the attachment ;)

posted this on UKS but thought I'd post here as well in order to up my chances of finding someone interested ---------------------------- Hi everyone, I was looking around the web trying to find a flatpacking video, but there doesn't seem to be any available! If anyone is bored enough to fill this gigantious educational void on skydivingmovies/youtube I'm sure it would be appreciated by more than me! To get some inspiration there's the pdpacking video, which explains how and why you do certain things http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=6886&string=pdpacking. Thanks!

I just use my normal summer gloves + glove liners edit: ask in your dz shop what they got!

Florida Accommodations: Deland and Zhills ?
Anta replied to DougH's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I stayed in them last spring, and I can really recommend them. $25 per night, clean, nice sized bed, air con, fridge, bang on the DZ etc...surely beats tenting in England in the Winter . -
doesn't seem to cover skydiving. To be honest, anything more than 50 pounds or so is ridiculous for a 2 week holiday. Especially since it only covers personal injuries, not gear etc as far as i understand

I'm heading out to the states this christmas...I just had a quick look at one of the sports insurance companies at how much it would cost for a 17 day skydiving insurance - just under £300 (just under $500)...yikes

Packer common courtesies...
Anta replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Fair enough you get your rig 'serviced' faster if you tip....but better results?? That's quite a shocking comment tbh. ....anyway Afaik a packjob is quite a bit more expensive in the UK compared to the states. I guess it's the same for other services, if you work as a waitress in the UK you'll get more than if you do the same job in the states, so you you are not expected to have to rely on tips (as much). -
I've been watching the PD packing video http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=6886&string=pd%20packing to get some more input on how to pack well in addition to talking to friends etc. One thing that slightly confuses me is how after the canopy is laid down on the ground, he takes the tophalf right side of the canopy and folds it to the middle, then the same on the left side, then lifts the topskin up and dresses that around the canopy (i hope this makes sense! It's at 23 minutes, but it's a big download). Do you guys do this? I can't recall ever seeing anyone doing this before - the way I've learnt is to start sausaging the canopy right away after it's been put on the ground. I want to get my packing certificate soonish, so I don't want to learn anything that will make the person checking me out go wtf is she doing! If it makes any difference I hire a pilot, not a pd canopy. Cheers!

Why don't you just bring a laptop (with moviemaker or smth to capture video) to the dz, and whenever you do funjumps with someone at the dz who flies a camera, just ask them if you can download it to use in promotional vids? Alternatively plan a few dives where you'll pay for a cameraman. That way you'll get some cool footage quickly to use for promos =)

To be honest, at $13, whats the big deal in riding it down? Damn, the jump price jealousy just hit me big time
-
I second that. I borrowed it of a friend and it's the best skydiving "textbook" I have read to date. Well written and easily understood.

I jumped in Z-hills last May (awesome dz btw!). Back here in the UK we keep the door closed as long as possible, there it was opened as soon as possible

I may be remembering things incorrectly, as I know near to nothing about these things....but... I heard from a rigger repacking my reserve that every time the handle is pulled, there is slight wear on the metal which increases the pull force. He therefore smoothed it out for me - I don't know what tools he used but I'm guessing it was similar to sandpapering wood, whatever the equivalent to metal is. I initially only got the "practise pull" for the repack on the second go being surprised how hard it was (though I guess I didn't have the adrenaline of a mal). It was easier after he had worked on it, either because it had improved or because I was prepared for a hard pull. I mentioned this to another rigger who thought it was crazy. Any riggers reading this? Would be nice to have more input .

welcome to england, where most people use public transport and eat raman noodles

maybe thats why they introduced diet coke? (and no, normal coke cannot possibly give you a beer belly!)
