  1. Blevins, all we have to go on here is Cooper-related stuff, not all the other stuff you mention. I presume the fact-checkers at NYT do a better job than the ones who worked on Gray's book Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  2. Amazing. Truly amazing. You insult Georger to the point of slander and now you expect him to spend time "analyzing" something on a wild goose chase? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  3. Surely you have learnt by now that Gray's book is hardly the most trustworthy of references??? I understand this point. But if you are going to knock allegations in the book, you have to do it on a case by case basis, and provide evidence that Point A or Point B or Point C in the book is incorrect. Actually, no I don't. One mistake is one thing, but a few have already been pointed out (some which we have heard Gray was explicitly told were wrong but went ahead and published anyway). Goes to unreliability ...I think at this point, the onus is to find another source that says the hijacker produced the matches, not on me to "prove" him wrong. 4. It's "losing", not "loosing", which I mention only because you have felt the need to correct others on their grammar and spelling before. And if you do a google images search for old matchbooks, you will see blue is a very popular color for them... maybe if you think just a little harder you can recall the name or image on the matchbook Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  5. You forget...Jo did actually bring the Freemasons into it at one point. Mercifully, it was a brief excursion. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  6. The reason I asked is that if it was before - stew still on duty as far as all the other passengers were concerned - even if passengers could smoke, stews could not. Partly because on duty and partly because you were not allowed to walk around smoking.... I can't imagine a stew on duty either wandering around smoking or sitting next to a passenger doing so. (apparently Gray can though?) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  7. If he had the match book why would he lean in close? IF he had the matchbook...Why did she light it? Another missing "s"? Were these matches supplied by Tina? She lit the cigarette. Sounds like a lovely work of fiction Someone remind me - was this meant to have happened before or after the other passengers had left the plane? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  8. One of the links I looked at (original site, I changed the links to just the pictures cos they were too small otherwise) did mention something about the matches being available in the restaurants at airports. That must have been a nice little monopoly while it lasted! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  9. Sheesh... If brown marks there can you imagine the lungs On appearances: in Buenos Aires, 2003 (after the peso crash) we witnessed what we had thought was an urban legend. The front of the Casa Rosada had been repainted, because that is where everyone takes photos; but not the side or back! I have a photo of a corner of the building where you can clearly see a remarkable difference! Not sure if it is still like that. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  10. Farflung, yours is 1970s? Do you know when exactly? The design looks similar to the second one I posted but the colors are different. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  11. This one looks newer, and less like what I believe has been described, but no date that I can see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/19739398@N04/4625863263/ Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  12. well, google. They say 1950s but fyi anyway... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?VISuperSize&item=180715169036 Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

  14. I thought the matches were provided by the stew? In any case there is no more or no less reason for any NWA employee to have had them than any other. I am starting to get worried about Jo. She sounds like she is losing it Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  15. It's obvious Robert The company selling printed matchbooks had attractive blondes in sales positions. Maybe Marla could do that kind of work. Hardly the first time or last time that advertising is done to a captive audience/by a monopoly supplier. There could be all sorts of reasons for wanting to raise brand awareness, build customer goodwill ("hey! these skychef guys are great, they hand out free matches!") and in this instance customers would have no idea who provided the food without advertising. Even today on some flights I see the "true food supplier" (as opposed to just the airline branded meal) named on the food packaging. I don't think this is any type of issue at all. (but there is a huge amount of literature on the microeconomics of advertising if you want to go delve further, just be sure to use google scholar so you don't get all the loonies chucked in.) 16. Thanks Tom. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  17. Point has now been made to Blevins that Ti sponge could be in either flares or red dynamite but... (bonus points for anyone spotting the source): "some men you just can't reach". Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.

  19. Um...Georger said sponge in raw form may be used in flares or cheap dynamite. Was this the case in the 1970s too? If so it may just reflect the fact that Cooper had flares or cheap dynamite in his briefcase, and gives us no clues about anything else... Edit: posted before I saw smokin99 had come to same conclusion!! Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  20. Couldn't find anything on counterfeiting particularly, but for printing in general: Not the metal in the press, it is used in some of the ink though: http://nzic.org.nz/ChemProcesses/polymers/10E.pdf (just do a search for "titanum" in the doc, it mentions both titanium dioxide and titanium chelate) But this would seem to be a very comon thing? More to the point about titanium sponge though: it appears that this emerges during the manufacturing process, between purification and alloy creation... I'm sure one of the scientists here could explain it much better. http://www.answers.com/topic/titanium Edit: here's the dummies version: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-titanium-sponge.htm Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  21. Vicki, quick search turned up nothing but I will look a little later. (incidentally I like many skydivers have titanium adjoining a bone... ) And a response to jo's request about the FBI files on Cooper. Jo, we mentioned these literally years ago. I know because I had them downloaded onto an old PC which I no longer have, in a room which is now baby O's nursery and she is nearly 3. There have been repeated requests for you to read these over the years. You have had plenty of time and opportunity to get hold of them, why suddenly now? Just checked back - I posted the link on 30 November 2007. That's nearly 4 years ago. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  22. Not strictly Cooper-related (OK, not Cooper related at all, but at least it's airplane and stew-related) ...I thought some of you might enjoy this: http://www.life.com/gallery/42242/image/ugc1045942/in-praise-of-early-stewardesses#index/0 Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  23. Let's see... lots of fighting, particularly between Jo and Blevins, more conspiracy theories, and a good number of seriously funny Farflung posts. Possibly one or two posts that actually have something to do with the DB Cooper case. Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  24. I don't believe you for a second. Your entire life is consumed with trying to prove Duane was Cooper. As you tell it, Duane knew since before the hijacking occurred that he had kidney disease, not only when he died. Why not search for her to tell her this important news in the decades that Duane knew he was ill, or the very least in the years you spent with him? It seems very fishy that decades later this suddenly becomes enough of an issue to search for her, at a time that just happens to intensify with your Cooper search. All this of course on the rather daft assumption that if Zona fell ill, the doctors would have no clue what the trouble was until white knight Jo came riding in? How many times do I have to tell you: we are not as dumb as you think we are. The only thing rotten is you trying to scare someone into contacting you for your own reasons. btw Occam would say the little girl in the photo is Zona, not Tina, surely? Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
  25. So was Geoff Gray lying when he said your files on Cooper were exceptionally well organised? You have indeed on a number of occasions used the "I have the document here somewhere but can't find it now" in regards to backing up X, Y or Z claim ...and then we never hear of it again. (Perhaps it is in the "imminent revelations" folder?) Skydiving: wasting fossil fuels just for fun.
