  1. Well, right now I am in the middle of no where. I am going to be moving back to the states for this next season. That is why I was trying to get something that would last me a while. How is the Silhouette compared to Sabre2? #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
  2. Cool thanks. So for I have flown a Nav (210,200,190) an old Sabre 2 ( very worn 190), and a Spectre 190. So far I liked the Spectre 190 the most. But I was figuring it was just because it was new and turned when I wanted it to. Not to metion I was able to get above it which was fun. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
  3. Dude, even Hookitt gave up on this. Look, we understand the dangers involved in this activity. I posted this to find the best way to be safe. I have read multiple posts and have even watch instructional video's on it. We know that with HD we will be traveling much faster and if we are not smart about it we will kill ourselves or worse someone else. We have already talked to the people at the DZ we are heading to. They do not suggest I try it strictly on the number of jumps I have. As you can see, I don't believe in that. They have also said that I am allowed to try what I want to. They will stick us at the end of the load just to be as safe as possible. Now in AFF they did teach us how to turn and I am able to tell which way the aircraft is moving. So if I do back slide or front slide I will not be of the line of flight. Now I am not planning on getting there and trying HD on my first jump. I am planning on working with my sit fly doing turns on all axis. Towards the end I will mess around with HD and that will not be for around another 20 jumps or so. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate all your comments on this and the concern for our safety. If you have more suggestions on how do be more stable, better exit suggestions or any suggestions, please post them. But if you’re just going to say we are going to kill ourselves and everyone around us and to smile when we hit the ground because we will leave a lasting impression, don't bother it has already been said. Also, just want to say thanks to Hookitt. That is a great suggestion. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
  4. Well I read the post and I find it is a very interesting subject. I admit I am on a bad trail. But I really don't care if someone puts my name on the death list. In fact, I would be the first person to put money on it. I am not risking the life of anyone elses besides my own. I am perfectly content with that. Of course, I will abide by the rules of the DZ. If they say no wingloading till 100 jumps thats cool with me. I will push the limits tho, even if that means risking my life. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" 5. Will Do. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
  6. We got the basics and Trae is correct. We would have tried it without the advice, which would have made us even more dangerous. We read all the warnings and we should be fine. Thanks for the advice again Trae. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
  7. What Troll you talkin about? #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
  8. Ok, I understand what you are saying. Since I do not have a home DZ to ask, I was bring it here. I would like a 9-Cell elliptical that can turn hard and ground hungry when I pull those risers. With brand suggestions, I will make a demo list and find which I like best one for me. The point of this, I don't want to go spend 2k on a shoot just to down size midway through season. I want something that will stick with me for a couple seasons. Now what are the thoughts on Safire 2? I've read they are elliptical and with that, if I am correct, they are faster and respond to turns better and love to do noes dives. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" 9. I do not have a steady DZ right now. I'm in the Air Force and I travel a ton. In general, I have read pretty much all the reviews I can. I find I want an semi-elliptical or elliptical chute. Now hard turns and ground hungry is not a bad requirement as long as you respect what you have. I have ruled out 7-Cells as people say they do not have as much flare and glide. Even tho I do like those openings. What are the thoughts on Safire 2? #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
  10. Here is the questions. I would like to hear suggestions on a main canopy. I have read most of the reviews I'm still having a hard time on deciding. I am about a 205lbs out the door. I would like a canopy that can turn hard and ground hungry when I want it to be. Also will have a nice glide path as I flare. Ya my landings suck with no wind but once I get jumpin more often I will take care of that problem. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" 11. I understand what your trying to say and yes I do have a third leg to help me steer JK. I went to a USPA certified DZ. If you had a student and you noticed he is ahead of the curve, why would you hold him back from learning at his/her own pace? Both of my instructors were exception skydivers and they knew what they were doing. If they even the smallest thought that I would not be able to do it, they would have not let me jump. I am still working on my sitfly. But I would like to TRY head down once or twice, that’s it and then I will go back to sitfly. Once I am able to be stable in sit no matter what situation, I will get a coach to help my on HD. Now the answer to your question, that is if I remember physics class. Coaches should be in front or side of you. So if I loose control and go on my belly, he should be traveling at the normal head down speed of around 160-200, of course off the flight path. That means he will be traveling to the ground faster then myself. And say that I need about 5 seconds to recover even. If I am traveling at 120 and you at 180, that means with 5 seconds you will be 440 feet away from me. So I would pick the answer “D”. Of course that would be entirely different if the instructor was close to me, but we all know a good coach would not think of getting near someone that is new to HD. Again thanks for your comments. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
  12. Actually, I had less the 7 student jumps, the rest were standard RW jump. My first jump, both instructors let go and I was on my own. By my third student jump, I was able to do unstable exit recovery within 3-5 seconds and do left 360, right 360, backloop, left 360, right 360, front loop, play a little on my own and track off and pull on my own. By jump four or five I was doing belly RW with a group of 5 and yes they were all certified coaches and the dropzone was being safe (they did video it). In roughly a week and a half I was able to complete 28 jumps and with 21.5 (buddy had a pre-deployment) were RW of some sorts, to include a 12 man jump. I tried the belly RW scene, it was boring, and the chief instructors suggested I start to sitfly. Again, as I stated before, you have not seen me fly. The only person here that has is Woody and he has only seen me try to sitfly (first three video's vary scary) and crash hard a more than not. As people have talked about in other forums, some disciplines take certain individuals a long time to learn, like my landings. But there are other disciplines that they are able to get very quickly. With myself, I was able to do belly fly very quickly, accurately and safely. Another example, Woody was kicked out of AFF course to do RW on his second jump, not to mention he has never crashed or even dragged a knee while landing. But on the other hand, one of my other buddies was not able to stop turning during lvl 3 of his AFF. In regards to speed, I realize FF gives less resistance and more speed. Therefore, I have only gone out with certified coaches. I am not doing FF RW. I am not going to go out with Woody and attempt head down. That is one of the few risks I am not willing to take. In the end, I do not believe you should judge people on how few jumps they have. If they ask a question, just give them a straight up answer to it. Telling someone “Don’t be in a hurry” is not an answer. But telling someone “The best way is to go with a coach” or actually telling them “Dive forwards out the door in the same direction the aircrafts going and spread your legs” is great advice. He also did mention, this is to mess around with it and to learn get a coach. Well enough venting. And as always, don’t forget to pull! 13. Heck I agree with all of you. I admit I only have about 20 heads up jumps and it has only been the last 2 or 3 that I have been able to move steady on all axises. I know it is dangerous to try HD without stable head up. But the point of all this, I want to try something different. If I just keep doing sit fly every time I go out the flipping door it will get boring and I would like something to mix it up a little. I'm not going to try and teach myself head down. I want to mess around with it on my own a couple of times and I will get a coach to help me with the big part. Heck, most people were telling me not do even try sit fly until around 50-75 jumps and look I can do those fine right now. Like Woody and SKybytch were saying, you don't know how I fly! So why is there a standard, You can't do head down until 150-200 jumps. For all you know, I can be the best d*mn skydiver in the world or most likely the worst you have ever seen and Woody I don't want to hear about my landings. Thats a different story. Ok, thats enough bytching. Trae answered my question on the basics of it. Thanks again. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" 14. Hahaha, Woody's going to kill'em self. I just hope his Altimeter will work this time. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress

  16. So whats the basics on learnin head down? Any good videos that teach it or just suggestions on how to start? THanks #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
  17. I am relatively new to skydiving. Been looking for a good rig to get. I was thinkin of ordering a new Mirage G4 and get something like an 190 Safire 2. I'm about 210 goin out the door. Any other suggestions? I am big into freefly right now. #148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
  18. I am an American traveling around Europe trying different dropzones. I have never ran into as many problem as I did here. As I like trying different types of rigs, I like to rent the local rigs. I asked them for there 190 Spectre, they tell me its in a black container somewhere around the dropzone. They wouldn't even help me find it. After bugging them some more, they were able to find it. I was able to get in the air quick. When I got down, I ask them where to put the pack to haved the re-pack it (they do not let others pack their rigs). I informed the packer where I placed it and he bit my head off and told me he is really busy and he will get it when he gets to it. Two in a half hours later, I go and see if it is packed. Still sitting in the same spot. They then told me to sit by the parachute and ask him when he goes to grab the next one. Amazingly he ignores me and grabs a parachute from someone that just walked in from a jump. After 4 hours of waiting. I went into the off and complained for about 20min got my 60 bucks back. Also they don't like students that are not from their dropzone.

    Skydive Utah

I went to SkyDive Utah to attend the AFF course. Everyone there is extremely nice and helpful. Due to military obligations, I was under a time restriction. They went out of there way to help me get out of student status and as much of my “A” License as possible. Jack, Debbie, Sam and Joe are all excellent at AFF instructors. They have also just received a new King Air, which makes the ride up to altitude very quickly. They have great weather during the spring and summer months, and a huge landing area. This is an excellent place to learn how to skydive and have fun.
