Any locals around Cleveland who want to share an object? Thanks, damien

Any locals out there who want to share an object despite the cold? Just in case... Peace, Damien

Mainly on the NJ side close to NYC and I'll have a car. Not that attracted by jail, so low profile objects prefered. Have fun with your virgins.

Anybody driving from Twin Falls airport to Twin Falls (Motel 6) tonight (Thursday May 25th)? My flight gets there at 9:46 pm. Most of the Norcal crew will drive all night and arrive early Friday morning. I'll owe you a beer. Thanks, Damien 415 517 6155

Any locals around Philadelphia who want to share a local object. Thanks Damien

Indeed, I remember D.J. telling me he bought it from Eric Fradet a while a ago.

We're heading to TF with a bunch of norcal people tonight. But what sucks is that I probably have a muscle or a nerve stuck just bellow my right shoulder blade (haaaard opening a few days ago). It's not very painful except on some very specific moves... I'm definitely gonna take some pain killers before jumping, but if someone has any knowledge about how to put the shit back in place, that'd be great! Reward? Beers of course PM me.

A representative organization should be built with the following characteristics: - board elected for a year (or less or more) by members - no profit - funding and fund management transparent to members - if employees are needed, they shouldn't be part of the board or have any power of decision - all intellectual properties (names, web sites, logos, image, etc) should belong to the organization and not to physical persons These characteristics would guarantee the integrity of such an organization. Democratic election does NOT mean no decisions can be made. The board has the power, for a limited time. If members are not happy about it, the board would not be reelected. The ex-board of the ABP, could naturally become the board of such an organization. Should it represent only backcountry parachutists? For sure, the biggest fight in the US today is with NPS, but wouldn't it be better if this organization was be representing all base jumpers? How many of you are pure backcountry parachutists and not base jumpers? By the way, I would be glad to get my money back from the ABP and give it to an organization that would really represent backcountry parachutists/base jumpers and has an real ethics based on the general interest. Just my thought...

For a 480' fall, with no friction, you do get about 5.5 s (5.46 s) before impact (considering g = 9.81 m/s). So speed (g * t) would be about 53.6 m/s or 120 mph. With the air resistance, after 5.5 s, the actual speed is closer to 90 mph, according to what I know. Air resistance has a significant influence, even after 4 or 5 s of freefall. Though, time before impact will still be under 6 s. Yeah, well, I'm not very helpfull

Any idea how many jumps in Perrine each year? A few 1000? About 3000 in Kjerag per year.

Before any jump, risk evaluation is mandatory (or should be...): a) directly related to the jump (also for people jumping with you) b) in some cases, consequences of doing something potentially illegal For this 2nd point, the risk can be hard to evaluate (which doesn't mean it's easy for the 1st one...). What about the extra risk for a foreigner jumping in the US? Or other countries? I wonder what could happened. Could one get kicked out of the country? Is there a record of it? Could it make it harder to get a visa for example? And when I mean illegal, I mean trespassing, not vandalism to get to the exit point at any cost. Just trespassing, without any evidence left after the jump, and no risks for anybody around. And not in national parks, considered as criminal... Of course, a good way to reduce this risk is to contact locals and get some advice (and avoid burning the object). Also a matter of respect and ethic. Any thoughts? These legal issues might not be openly discussed in this forum, I don't know... If not, Tom, I apologize for the extra work. Safe jumps

Thank you all for your help. Jason (alias kelpdiver) and I will go jumping this week-end. I don't know yet in which DZ, but I do plan to jump in all of them! Cheers, Damien

Hi Jason, Thanks for the info. You need someone to reeducate you for packing? I wouldn't mind giving you some help about this. What does it take? Nothing, unless discussing about the DZs in the area, the way it works here. I've only jumped once in the US last year, so I might have things to learn. You can reach me by email, in my profil. Damien

No worries, the Atom Legend is TSO'd (TSO C23d FAA) and I've already jumped with it in several DZ in North America. Damien

Hi, I'm looking for a rigger in San Francisco to repack my reserve canopy. I'm new to California, and I have no car for the moment... so, mustn't be too far from SF... Container and reserve: Parchute de France Atom Legend + Techno 155 Thanks, Damien

It's getting pretty strict in France after too many landing accidents in the past years... But if you are have your own gear and can prove you have been using it for a while (log book), you won't have any problem using it -- unless your w.l. is 1.5 with 50 jumps. Damien

I'm new to San Francisco and I'm looking for a nice DZ in the area. I was thinking of Skydive Bay Area. Any advice? By the way, I don't have a car yet, so if someone is going jumping from SF next week-end (04/30 and/or 05/01), I would need a lift... Thanks, Damien
