  1. Trump might bail some farmers out again like he did last time so he’ll probably be okay. Meanwhile soybean harvest in Brazil is at record highs. China has other options.
  2. Denial is the first step. I’ve already accepted that we’re pretty much fucked. We’re basically Hungary now, and if Trump continues to have his way we will become Russia.
  3. Actually they can, because the used Tesla market is great. You can find low mileage Teslas for $20-30k in the SF Bay Area right now. I’d imagine they’re even cheaper elsewhere. Not that that will help musk. And they’re basically disposable cars at this point. Once the batteries go they’re not worth much.
  4. 0 and 0. I used to skydive and could again if I were so inclined, although I’d probably eliminate the fossil fuel thing and just move on to paragliding because it’s literally right out my back door. I usually spend my free time in the woods these days, trying to see whatever I can before it all burns up. I wouldn’t have gotten involved in SC but I was bored during Covid shutdown. I decided to bail when I’d had enough of the pelosi hammer thread. I think arguing is one of the silliest things we use the internet for and I’m as guilty as anyone. That said, I still lurk here for the links that some of you provide. There’s some good information there. Sure, I’d probably pay for membership to maintain that.
  5. Agree and I offered nothing but the same whenever I participated. I have no desire to do it again but I have 2 nephews that each just got their A license so I have to ask, if the site goes away, is there any way to archive the incident and S+T forums so they are still available to view? Institutional knowledge is a terrible thing to waste. I want it to remain available to them as it was to me, and I would contribute to that.
  6. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/body-camera-footage-paul-pelosi-attack-released-rcna67661 I guess now enough time really has passed.
  7. I have to appreciate the mini-14 at the bottom. Back east where I grew up they used them to get rid of ground hogs in the cattle pastures. Perfect tool for that job.
  8. I’m curious which model Abrams we are sending. I thought the depleted uranium mesh armor was classified tech.
  9. Forgive me. I’ve never been on Facebook so I don’t know what it’s like. I didn’t bring up shower guns first, but since they came up, and if indeed the photo was taken in a bathroom, or a kitchen for that matter, you should appreciate the irony of a missing, common household safety device, usually required by building code, next to another device possibly also intended to protect the home.
  10. I figured that was the vanity top, not the shower itself. Still, not a GFI outlet.
  11. From where the photo was taken that’s obviously the shower gun.
  12. https://abc7news.com/half-moon-bay-shooting-multiple-shot-san-mateo-county-sheriff-highway-92/12728943/ I’m sure it’ll end up on the networks but it’s all over local news in the Bay Area at the moment. No mention of weapon type yet.
  13. Assuming it was illegally purchased, should they be legal then? Or should the law be better enforced?
  14. This is kind of stupid. No one is going to use biodiesel in the Abrams tank, at least certainly not in Ukraine during wintertime. As subsequent comments demonstrate, if anyone other than hutch had replied to Dr. Kallend with that word it would have been met with complete agreement. He has some of you conditioned like Pavlov’s dogs.
  15. Hell yeah. About time. Even the mayor qualifies. Now they can buy houses which will immediately be appraised at a lower value once they move in.
  16. According to the latest ABC breaking news, the FBI has already recovered classified documents from Biden’s house in Wilmington. The attorney general has appointed a special counsel in the matter.
  17. You said Biden’s home, not his house. I’m pretty sure he lives at the White House. Regardless of that hair splitting, If the FBI finds out that Biden is storing classified documents at his house in Delaware, and he ignores requests to return them, or lies about whether or not they are there, and the justice department then obtains a warrant, they may conduct a raid. See how it works yet?
  18. I’m pretty sure the White House is a secure location.
  19. That’s apparently not a significant difference. That a president can declassify is all that matters. The simplicity of the conservative mind, that tells itself it has a brain because it is conservative, is fascinating.
  20. Seems like only one difference is significant to you. And as you say, it has yet to be adjudicated whether or not Trump actually did declassify. Do you agree with his assertion that a president can declassify just by thinking about it?
  21. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/01/10/house-gop-trump-biden-classified-docs-00077252 I realise it’s a left leaning site and the article definitely comes across that way, but there are distinct differences in how this is being handled as compared with the situation that occurred at the former President’s personal residence.
  22. I wasn’t sure since you didn’t include any link in OP. I never had a problem with Trump administration tariffs per se, but by blabbing about them on Twitter ahead of time he set off an immediate wave of speculation that screwed industries that regularly need raw materials. Our metal suppliers wouldn’t guarantee quoted prices for more than 24 hours, which made it difficult to accurately bid future work. And we lost well over 100k on jobs that we had under contract but hadn’t purchased materials for yet. As always, Trump running his fat mouth was the biggest problem.
  23. I heard some guy in the bar talking about all of this and he said that the Biden administration made many changes to foreign policy, especially with regard to China. I guess I need to learn how to make a meme about it now.
  24. That’s actually a firefly. It was named Serenity, though.
