Hmmm. I'm not sure, and I didn't read that in the press coverage I found. I did see that they were quoted as saying something like "this is what happens when you try to steal from us..." during the attack, so I'm guessing that they at least suspected that was what had brought them there. I wonder if this might not have been the first such commuter car theft in the area, and if there might not have been some history (specific to these individuals, I mean) we're missing out on. The attackers had no knowledge of any crime (other than 'walking while black'). One of the attackers (Frank Agostini) testified to this. He also backed up the victim's testimony that the word "nigger" was used repeatedly, that one victim (Moore) was beaten with a bat while unconscious, putting him in critical condition. The attackers further went on to make their "lily white" neighborhood safe by robbing the vicitims of clothing and jewelry. You're reply is most appreciated. It's an apt. The owner had an A/C guy out this AM and he checked it out and said pressure was fine. This unit is 4 yrs old and never had a problem in the hot summers here in Fla. A/C guy made a mess cleaning the interior unit but, as I said, the air flow was fine before and fine after. I put a thermometer by the vent and showed him it read 70F (with interior air at 82F. outside is 87F). He said that was normal. I didn't buy it. I've never used a thermometer before, but I can tell it is not a cool as before. Question. If there was a bad compressor valve, would it be making some sort of noise? Central A/C not quite cutting it last few days. A/C guy came out this AM to check and pressure was "Good". Air flow seems OK but temp coming out of the vents is 70F. I change filters regularly but the guy cleaned it out anyway. Usually in the afternoon on hot days it works fine (room temp 75-77F) but now, running full blast all day, can't get the room temp less than 84F. I can see how you would. However, you managed to miss my point. Despite all the attempts AQ have made, only small attacks have succeeded...only limited loss of life has been incurred (although any loss of life is deplorable, make no mistake) whereas their stated intention is to hit, hit hard, kill as many as possible, and terrorize us. To that end, they are not getting better; they are failing miserably. And I'm damned glad. Frankly, I'm not too terrified. I'm not worried about the guy next to me in the supermarket, I'm not too concerned about the guy at the post office, and I haven't had too many qualms about the people I've shared an airplane with. And I'm average. I worry more about my friends driving to and from the DZ than I do about a terrorist attack... When seen from that perspective, they are failing, as I said. They are failing. And I think a whole lot of it has to do with the "war on terror," rather than good diplomacy or financial handouts and 'group therapy.' That's one side of things that I wanted to point out...
