Michio Kaku! No I didn't just sneeze. Anyone read Hyperspace? Good stuff. I read it when I was 15, and every once and a while since then... He's an amazing speaker too.

lol, I'm soooo gonna keep outta this... If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

I don't think it's all about the money guys. Now, I'm not religious myself, but that's pretty cynical. I think that in the beginning christianity and others were all very good ideas, but what we've made them into, isn't. If we can separate the theory from the way man puts it into practice, we might be able to break down some walls and get eachother to understand our opinions a little better If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

Evil Will ALWAYS beat GOOD. Because GOOD is DUMB. (Spaceballs people!....)

When I was 15. I also spent 18 years in the catholic chuch, but what I'm asking you, is how, like you said, has it been proven to you? I can write that I'm 14 feet tall on a peice of paper and mail it you but that doesn't make it true. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

Ok, so my question stands, then, that if you're not saved you're not getting into heaven, has been proven you? How does that work? If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

you're mixing up your words here, you said it was 'true' in a very matter of fact way that if you don't believe you ain't getting into heaven. So, that has been proven to you? Really? That's facinating. I am fine with agreeing to disagree, but I do want to understand your position, which really makes no sense to me. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

You exist, she can cut you, you bleed, your successes/failures and how you've dealt with them have lead her to have 'faith' in you. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

That blows me away. How on earth can you say that something that's so unprovable is true? Can you not conceed that you may be wrong? That the possibility exists? If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

There's the ticket, well said man.

Good people getting denied entrance to heaven is crap, and if they do, then I'll gladly go spend the rest of eternity with them. Rob, if it's there when you get there, they will be too. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

I think, that if there is a god, he doens't see our suffering as a serious issue. Maybe to him/her it's not such a big deal. Good people go through terrible things. To me, the answer is to, rather than live your life for someone else (ie, god), live it for you. Just be a good guy for the sake of being a good guy. In the end it may suck, you may be lonely, you may be happy, you may have a wonderful family. But if you lived a good life, I don't see how a good god can turn you away at the gates should he exist. Just don't knock him now, and he shouldn't have anything against you. Take life for what it is, and live it well, according to your internal values. If I bust my ass and make something happen, I thank me. God isn't gonna walk a pretty girl into my apartment, I have to go out. I don't know, I'm likely rambling here, but it is kinda relevent, in my head. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

that's alright, I'm kinda slow.

Sounds like a lot of speculation on both sides of fence here. saying 'I know' something is the first step to looking stupid. Me I won't rule it out, but wont rule it in either. I'm a fence straddler! Edit to add: Thanks for the fence! I think....
-
I rule. Thanks for rationalizing my intuition.

although, earlier, you said for the brainiacs to keep out, I think now is about right to call them back.

nope, the volume of the anchor will still displace, whether it's on the bottom or not. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?
-
but that depends on the size of the boat, a larger boat would distribute more and displace less.
-
well, the effect of the mass of the anchor acting on the hull of the boat before, would, depending on the size of the boat, displace more or less water than the volume of the anchor itself. I'd assume it'd displace less than the anchor, so when you toss the anchor into the water, the boat will rise, displacing it's original amount minus the amount caused by the mass of the anchor and the anchor will cause the water level to rise an amount equal to it's volume. So, same? no, cuz on the one hand you have a boat with bouancy, displacing less water than the anchor would, So I'm gonna say it'd rise, by a very very slight amount. But it depends on whether the displacement due to the added mass of the anchor in the boat is greater than the volume of the anchor.

So, how did he get up there? Onto the top of a 21' block of dry ice? THERE lies the mystery. Sure as hell wasn't with a 4' peice of rope.
-
boooooooo
-
is the length of the rope relavent to the solution?
-
Is this a conventional room? Or more of an 'enclosure'? By conventional I mean a standard room, by enclosure I mean, say, a 25' shipping container on end. And this rope, did the man bring it with him into the room? And was he put into this room or did he go freely into it. And my shot at gold: Is he hanging from the underside of a manhole grate!? One that decends 25' to the sewer connection? I'll solve you....
