  5. I this is happening _right _ now. I cut and pasted it from ICQ: (btw, I'm Andrew) ----------------------------------------------------------- Andrew (02:02 PM) : MOM, YOU OKAY? Mary (02:02 PM) : Yes, I am okay -just a bit shaken up. Why? What do you know? Andrew (02:02 PM) : that you got a letter from nyc, with white powder. You need to fill me in here. Mary (02:10 PM) : I rec'd a letter from New York - an invoice from a company that a teacher purchased something on the internet from. ANyway, it was inside a US Postal service envelope saying it had been damaged. It was a bit odd. I opened the US postal envelope and took out the other envelope and it felt grainy, but I didn't think anythink of it - maybe it was dropped in something. Anyway, I opened it and a white powder puffed up about 8 inches - I took out the invoice inside and noticed it had a smell to it. I walked across the room and put it to my nose to smell it (Smart, eH) anyway, then I thought - OH - a white powder, I wonder. I went to the principal and told her what happened and she told me to call the Health and Safety officer in Vanderhoof. Well, I couldn't get a hold of her. So I tried Jim Wasylenko, Lynn phoned the School Board office who told her to phone the RCMP. They phoned us back and said that everyone that was in the office at the time should be contained in the office. So after about 1 1/2 hours - this rcmp shows up in a mask and with bags and they bag the letters, etc. Nobody knew what to do. THe rcmp told us they would send ambulances to take us up to the hospital. The ambulance refused to come and get us. Eventually a Sgt. comes and says not to worry that companies down in the states put white powder on envelopes to keep them from sticking together. Well Mr. Friesen was one of the people here and he didn't believe the guy either. But we evacuated the building and I am supposed to go home - everyone else has left except for some kids in the gym waiting for the Tachie bus. I should go though. Did you know it takes 7 days for Anthrax to kill you? ------------------------------------------------------------
  6. you don't have a lot of options if you're not willing to get too complicated. Poser is good, but if you're looking for some real nice stuff, you could use 3DS Max from Autodesk. Even straight up autocad will work if you're not worried about seamless vertice connections. Attached is a r12 version of a man, in both a sit position and standing, autocad drawing file (dwg). IF you're not familiar with autocad, what you'd want to do to rotate his joints would be to orient your UCS to the axis you want to rotate about, then select the arm for example, choose the shoulder as the base point and go from there. This isn't a solid model, just a surface TIN. Hope it helps ya. 3D.zip

  9. I did that too on my hop and pop. Hand signals that is. The DZO came up on the load with us, and was talking about how he usually gives the thumbs up, then we just gotta repeat it as we're falling away from the strut. So I climb out, check out the smiley face on the underside of the wing (chin up), let go and as I'm falling I automatically give him the thumbs up, but wait a sec! What's this!? He's fingering me and grinning hugely, seeing that he's fooled me. So I switch from the thumbs up to a big double "F U 2!" and go back to arch and pull on time. Great jump, I'll always remember seeing him and a huge grin coming across my face as I thought "Ha! You jackass!" We had some good laughs about that later on the ground. That was the jump when I really learned to relax some.
  10. You guys. Looking back, I used to do all those things too. Me, 22. Where'd I grow up? Small town, northern Canada. Where are my kids gonna grow up? Small town, northern Canada. To let kids have these experiences, I think we have to escape the cities. I want my boy or girl to be able to walk across the street (or driveway), find a good set of trees and build a treehouse (losing a few of my tools in the process). To me, the idea of relocation for the children is more important then career or how happy I am living in Vancouver. I don't want to live on a block or a street, I wanna live on a road. I want to know the other parents all the way down the road and into town. All the things that were on that list (well most , besides the seatbelt stuff and a couple others) are things that we have not lost, but _given up_ in order to live the lives we want to live. I believe that if you want your kids to be raised in an environment like the one they listed, then it's up to you to provide it, instead of commenting on the lack of it. It's out there, and yes tragedy does happen everywhere, and maybe my kid will get shot, abused by teachers, or hit by a car. But I for one don't want to assume that, no matter where I live, it'll all be the same. What was that quote about people being a product of your environment? I think it's strange to hear people say "This city's going to sh!t" while they're making dinner for their kids. I don't know.
  11. Where I grew up we'd have -45 and a little lower quite regularly. I recall 2 months where the temp did not once go about -40. All celcius, no that it really matters at that temp. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?
  12. Huh. I guess I hadn't really seen it from that angle before. If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

  15. Wow that totally cumpled the front pillar! That's crazy. nice shot of the entrails there falling to the floor... When I was 18 I was driving into town with my GF and we saw the lights of the car coming towards us blink for a sec, then the car veer into the ditch. We came to the car, ran out, the guy was ok, but it looked like his truck had been hit from the front AND side. Turns out he hit a moose, and only hit 1/2 of it, the first part crumpled the front end, the other half hinged around and crumpled the passenger side. I looked around, and ran down the road (being the animal loving hippie I am) and found the moose, still barely alive, in the middle of the road. He looked fine but when I approached him, he lifted his head to look at me, and I could see that 1/2 of his skull had been sheared straight off (like in hannibal). I crouched next to him, and in about 20 seconds he let out a big huff, and died. Sad thing really. It was interesting, that when I went up to him, he didn't move (likely cuz he was liquified inside), but when I was crouched next to him, it was like he knew I wasn't there to hurt him, just to be there when he died. I've seen the frantic look in an animal's eyes when they know they're doomed by your hand (hunting), but this guy, he was different. I've always had alot of respect for moose. Very cool creatures. A while afterwards, in retrospect, that night contributed to my becoming vegan.
  16. Ha! I'll tell you why! Cuz I'm off the market! If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?

  19. I think it's totally understandable that bears attack people, and in the case of hunters, I honestly feel that you're as much fair game out there as they are. I grew up hunting in northern BC, and have seen/dealt with _alot_ of bears. For years, I'd see 2-3 a week, not often from the safety of my car. For the most part they're cool, in a don't fool with them, and they don't fool with you kind of way. I've been approached by them quite often as they're curious/hungry, but never charged. weegirl, Mother bears don't have to see their cubs in headlocks before they attack, it's a proximity/risk thing, if you're within a certain perimeter (that is always changing) and you're not edible like a dear, then, they shift from the Food attack to what they percieve as a defensive attack Lucky shot for the guy, and his son though. 21. You know what would be a cool add-on? A SAR mission pack, where you take out a twin rotor to longs/lats, hover (geardown/gearup to simulate the pickup) and return to base. That'd be cool. I suppose I could just do that with out an addon... If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?
  22. Now I wanna find a few good download sites and down load a sr-71..... that'd be sweet If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?
  23. Hey, is it true that you can actually interact with the Tower (via voice recog?) in 2002 pro? And yeah, the rudder pedals would be sweet. Soon! I was playing with VOR last night. It's _such_ a detailed program, there's soooo much to learn! But soo fun. I flew a 737 from Vancouver Int to Prince George Regional, and was soo focused on landing I left my gear up If I ventured in the slipstream; Between the via-ducts of your dreams.......could you find me?
  24. Any of you guys play Microsoft Flight Sim 2000? I just bought it the other day, and man, it's pretty cool. I flew a 182 ofver my old DZ, and the terrain was pretty damned accurate for northern BC! Plus you can download real weather stats, so when I take off from Vancouver, it's just like it is outside my window! I'm pretty impressed with it.
