  1. "PS if it wasn't for the oil, the middle eastern conflicts would probably have been ignored like the turmoil in Africa is. " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oil wasn't involved in Korea or Vietnam or Croatia or Bosnia or....
  2. Actually changing people's lifestyle is the entire point of terrorism. Osama Bin Laden hates the United States because of our way of life. A way of life that I'm quite proud of. If we didn't live in a free, democratic, capitalist society, we wouldn't have been the target of these senseless acts. Of course we're not going to give up everything that this country believes in because of some nutbag that would make a good posterboy for cowardess, but people work in different ways. If we live a life in fear of the other side, then we fall into his game. This isn't an attack at your post. It's just a reminder that this is what he's trying to accomplish. If the FAA thinks it's a security risk, then don't fly. However, don't watch your back if you didn't watch it yesterday. Perhaps the skydiving community could be of some service though. We could all hook turn into Afghanistan with pistols and shoot his ass. Maybe Mullins will fly us in there. He's probably the only one that's nuts enough to do it. No offense Mike. That's actually a bit of a compliment.
  3. Not that passing level 1 is a huge accomplishment, but I am fairly proud of one thing. I stuck the landing. I didn't even take a step...two feet down, standing straight up. That felt good. I did a tandem previous to that, and that's fun. But there's no other feeling in the world that compares to being flipped (ever so gently) vertical, looking up at an inflating rainbow colored canopy, and a hot pink slider inching towards your face. None of it compares to the experience of the first jump, but the first jump doesn't come close to the feeling of accomplishment of landing your first solo canopy. Level 2, here I come...
  4. Seriously. I'm trying to put together a bunch of information for a kind of skydiving reference page. I'm a newbie and I've found searching for the information I'm looking for to be a bit frustrating. I'm trying to be as complete as possible, so any info will help. Here's what I'm looking for right now. What are the different disciplines. So far I've got freeflying, canopy RW, and formation RW. Also, I'd like to compile a list of all of the different jump planes, their capacity, rate of climb, average jump altitude, and if they are usually used for a specific type of jump. Thanks for anything and everything. If you'd like to contribute, drop me a line.
  5. I suppose what worries me the most is that nobody has anything good to say.
  6. Am I an imbecile or can anyone else find the DZ reviews? I've looked through the entire site and can only figure out how to write a review. Also, what is the general consensus about Atlanta Skydiving Center? I read a few posts in the newsgroups that blasted the place, but I had a fairly pleasant experience there. Granted I do only have one tandem jump, I'm getting ready to go try and take all 7 AFFs in one weekend. They said I could do it if I passed each level. What do you think my chances are of that?
  7. Okay, I've only got one jump under my belt. However, I'm ready to go AFFing as soon as I get the money. I have read several less-than-favorable reviews of ASC, and I don't know what they are talking about. The only bad thing that I have to say is that we were told to be there at 4:15 and didn't get to jump until 7:15. The staff was excellent. My tandem master couldn't have been better. He kept me well informed and did a superb job of keeping my mind off of falling out of a plane and on skydiving. My girlfriend even got a free jump after her jump went a little sour. Jumping out of Mike Mullin's King Air is half of the experience too. Imagine, 14 people to 14,500 ft. in 7 minutes. Now I'm spoiled. I don't want to jump out of anything else now. I would recommend it to any first time jumper. As I understand it, most of the bad reviews come from the experienced guys. Maybe in a few hundred jumps I'll change my tune.
