Bush Bashers--Time to Eat Crow? (Katrina)
masterblaster72 replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm not registered Democrat and I don't vote along party lines. My opinions here don't come from the right as yours do but I have no problem giving credit to republicans when due and dishing it out to democrats when they deserve it. If you feel that figurative language amounts to calling you gay for your opinions and that it brings down the level of dialogue here, then maybe I'm being insensitive to those more sensitive like yourself. My apologies for the offense, and I'll watch my language. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
Bush Bashers--Time to Eat Crow? (Katrina)
masterblaster72 replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Skewed news disgusts me -- be it from the right or the left. I don't listen to Air America because I don't like being told my opinion, and I don't need to take solace in hearing people echo my sentiments, unlike those who agree with all they hear on Fox News. I don't own cable by choice, so no CNN and I read Newsweek only if it's on a table in the waiting room of a doctor's office. Not that you care, or that I care if you care, but since you brought it up, BBC and CBC are my news sources. Your cookie-cutter assumptions don't fit here. I might just vote republican in 2008 if McCain gets the nomination. I never liked Kerry. I voted for many state/local republicans in 2004. I do despise this president and make no apologies for it, and that's because I think for myself and have standards. In all likelihood my ranting will die down after 2008 because I don't think leadership gets much worse than this. If labeling me or inferring that I'm a terrorist/communist/pansy liberal in the meantime makes you feel better, feel free to do so. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
Bush Bashers--Time to Eat Crow? (Katrina)

Don't put stuff into my mouth. I'll say it again: this was a failure of leadership on every level, democrats included. The mayor, governor and president all have that in common: they're incompetent. Every level of government failed. If my standards were as low as yours, I'd be content. My opinions are strong, but I'm not blindly partisan as you are. To you what I write is vitriol because you support this president as much as you do. Don't make that my problem. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

d'uhh... Same garbage posted by another Bush monkey a few days ago. You Bush monkeys believe anything you read written by a "journalist" who caters to your views. And it amazes me how vigorously you defend your gutter-low standards for leadership. I don't think the governor or mayor are very competent either and I don't defend them. But a state of emergency was declared on August 26th. Please be original. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Damn straight. If this news becomes more common, and if it signifies a turning point in the war, I share your joy. That we have so many dead makes me think this is a rather isolated incident. We have a lot of bleeding to stop in the meantime. The article makes me feel no better about 1900 mincemeat. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Sounds like you got a woodie too. With that kind of reaction, you might as well join the army and go to Baghdad. Seems like you're ready and willing -- you might know that the army is in dire need of guys like you now. Uncle Sam wants you -- now. What are you waiting for? d'uhh... The article is referring to the Iraq war, not Afghanistan. Oh...you fell for it? I think that coffee is yours. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

Those laws refer to military intervention. There's heaps of non-military federal action that could have been provided but was not. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -

I am. He ignored the world and took over another country regardless of the world's position. I don't see any reason why he couldn't take control of a situation in his own country. If he's a strong leader (and he got re-elected on that idea, what a joke), he would NOT have waited for an incompetent governor's decision on a disaster of this scale. That he did is further testament to the fact that he is an incompetent governor himself. I didn't know about the guitar thing until I read this thread. He reminds me of Nero with that instrument in his hands. What a disgrace. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
I agree, this is absolutely ridiculous. Surprisingly, Bush is playing into it as well. Use of the Word 'Refugee' Stirs Debate Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Interesting article about the La. governor / Mayor Nagin
masterblaster72 replied to Slappie's topic in Speakers Corner
Right. So you'll believe anything you read, so long as it backs your viewpoints -- the truth of it being secondary. You might not think so, but I am perfectly willing to believe what the guy wrote. A basic tenet of journalism is attributing statements to sources. If this guy is a "journalist", and quotes absolutely no one, he's obviously writing for guys like you. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
Interesting article about the La. governor / Mayor Nagin

Sorry to interrupt a new suck-off fest here, just a question. Who is the "fellow over in Merritt Is, FL, a reporter who's been researching what went on before the storm"? Thanks guys! -
Your point about the state of emergency is well-taken. And you're also very human -- you still blame all but Bush. Again, it's a failure of leadership on all levels. Whatever the procedures, this is a problem of national scale that Bush cannot completely wash his hands of. Are you proud of how Bush handled this? Think he did a superb job? Along your lines of thought, Bush might as well have continued his vacation and waited longer for LA's incompetent governor to cry for federal help. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Glad you got a laugh, though that wasn't my intention. Anyway, better a completely vacuous response like yours rather than no response at all. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Barbara Bush Says Katrina May Have Been A Help For Poor Evacuees
masterblaster72 replied to rhino's topic in Speakers Corner
With quotes as blatant as this one, you could get accused of making stuff up. It's from a March 18, 2003 Good Morning America interview with Diane Sawyer. Her reality is the same isolated reality lil W was raised in, and I'm sure his view isn't a whole lot different. Absolutely disgusting. Sorry, maybe I'm a bit slow today and missing something that's probably very obvious. But what does that mean? Is it Afrikaans? Being that you're a moderator, I'm sure it's something remotely meaningful that contributes to the convo and I'm just missing something. Right? edited to add quote Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up. -
This is hate spew. The author is trying to blur the lines between welfare recipients and criminals and almost put them in the same category. That last line is really something -- I'd like to see how he backs up the "large" overlap between prison and project populations. 100% pure garbage. First, it's hard to take seriously a news site that advertises flower petals blessed by Jesus & Mary... I love these threads where you guys all suck each other off on some point from a skewed source and write like it closes any opposing argument to a topic. The way this disaster played out is a result of poor leadership across the board -- democrats and republicans included. Bush saying "I told her so" doesn't make him the winner in my book. Bush waiting and giving her 24 hours to respond washes his hands of any blame at all? A "strong leader" just wouldn't depend on a governor's decision in a desparate time like that. A strong leader would be decisive and take action, damn the governor's decision or indecision. *He waited too.* Assuming that what Bush said to the mayor is true (a lot of us don't take what comes out of his mouth as gospel) the governor is at a HUGE fault, no disagreement there. And my impression is, from what I read in his quotes since last week, that this mayor is no Giuliani. We all need to raise our standards in what we expect from our leadership. This is a national problem, not a state problem. Good leadership starts from the top. I don't think we have that because our standards are weak. I don't blame Bush for this completely nor do I think a disaster could have been completely avoided. But I have no doubt that with stronger and more coherent leadership from the top we could have done better. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

But you invoke Clinton's name with no prior mention of it, taking Bill, making him look bad, and following with "at least Bush"... Clinton as a "do-nothing" president is your defense for Bush as a good president. More WEAK ex-dem-prez-bashing from the right. Please be original. Obviously you haven't seen his resume. The businesses he's owned have turned to sh.t. You're don't expose yourself to a whole lot of information or ask a lot of questions it seems. No wonder why you like Bush. And you're exactly the kind of voter he likes. He doesn't think straight to begin with. I want to ask you a question that I've asked other repugs here: Given this exact performance to a democratic president in the last two terms, same events, results, actions... would you be complaining? ---HELL YEAH. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

That's an excellent defense for this GW Bush. You've convinced me -- now I like him. You've got to be kidding me. Bush was on vacation when this hurricane hit. Please tell me you're joking/being sarcastic. Yeah right. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

I kind of see where you're coming from -- ideally, the government should pay for it, not only to pick up the cost, but also to ensure that each vote gets out there. But I guess you'd still otherwise pay the price by gas consumed driving to wherever the poll is. Maybe you should look at it as the price of convenience. I don't think much of the Kennedys. But Clinton I admire because he came from nothing. *He is a product of the American dream.* He was not born to wealth. He is a self-made man. His lies and blow jobs didn't leave people dead in their wake. Bush's lies have. If you believe everything Bush is telling the country, you need to open up to some real questions. Bush wasn't a cokehead, alcoholic, doesn't stammer, didn't dodge the draft by joining the Texas NG (and didn't go awol), and started an utterly necessary war that is going as well as can go? If so, of course you'll never take me seriously, and that's ok. You have a point -- no doubt the previous administration shares the blame. And I'm going to add to it that it still could have been avoided, even by Bush. As a matter of fact, if repubs are so terrific with National Security, then why did it happen? Again: it could have been avoided. Instead it happened, and it became a political centerpiece for this president to get re-elected on. I didn't know Gore had a watch either. You mentioned it... And I don't have much knowledge about the military...but my impression is that it wasn't weak under Clinton. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
