  3. I would pay off my beer debt, my rig , the DZO, fill my car up with gas and with the 2.95 left I would buy me a happy meal!
  4. Dodge Omni. First "Real Road" trip. 300 miles from home. Rear-ended a Buick, pushed the engine in my lap and barely dented the Buicks bumper. BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang
  5. I concentrated on canopy work with mainly H&Ps. It kinda hurt my progression as a flyer but I do have outstanding accuracy work with my canopy. If I had to do it over again I would have probably went to altitude more and did some relative work, opened at my usual altitude and still do my accuracy and canopy skills. Now I am the guy who can pilot the canopy but I am a challenge to do RW with. All in all to me canopy skills are VERY important, but I have learned so are free fall skills. Use every part of your skydive to learn and practice every time. Good Luck

  10. Whats up man? The first jump is easy, you are so sensory overloaded that you will do just about anything. The 2nd or 3rd jump and above you will become more aware of the things around you, allowing you to feel some anxiety. You always fear the unknown. The only way to comabat the fear is to do exactly what you are doing. Learn everything you can, practice your emergency procedures and relax. You should always feel a little anxious, that is normal, that is what keeps us safe. You have some of the best instructors(JP) so trust them. I'll see you out at the DZ this weekend. -Daniel "The Barefoot Guy" BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang
  11. Naw, We use students.... We generally drop WDI's on the first load everyday depending how squirrly the winds are. We hardly ever put students on the first lift so by the time they jump, winds, landing patterns and spots are pretty well defined by the up-jumpers. BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang
  12. I just finished Angel & Demons by Brown The story lined sucked but it had a great sydiving scene. Our hero takes a few meters of fabric and jumps from a helicopter, lands in a river, and leaves the hospital a few minutes later. BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang
  13. Thats my home DZ. Buddy definitly runs a tight ship. He has been a real inspiration not only to me but several folks at the DZ and abroad. He has encouraged so many folks out there(including me).Yeah he is more old school than most DZs but I personally think that is what is needed in our sport today.I couldn't imagine calling any other place home. 14. Yes and Yes. AFF jump instructor had to shake me several times to get me out of my daze at pull time. Got better after some serious talking to and good nature ribbing. (Was called RIPCORD for weeks). 100 jumps later had a baglock at a particulary low altitude. Training kicked in and just as calmly as if nothing were happening executed my EPs, all was well. Keep in mind that I ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS practice my EPs on the ground. OVER & OVER & Over again. Running through all the diffrent scenarios with the correct EPs. The more you prepare the better prepared(That sounds weird) you will be if and when the time comes to function in an emergency situation. Good Luck. BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang
  15. Went great on an attempted 4 way. I was there but another jumper had some trouble. We flew the exit docked a three. Got nailed by the fourth, 3 of us got back together for a little RW. I nailed it every time. I wore my Dive Rite anothe guy was in skins and another in a baggy jumpsuit. I was all over these guys. It was great. OK, put my arms out a little further in a downward pitch and left my legs bent just ever so little up until the last moment and had great docks everytime. It really felt great and natural. Thanks guys. I am now going to go out and look for a suit with some booties or do they have a bootie that will work with an existing suit? Something like a big sock with velcro around the ankles and heel? BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang

  17. I called Skyride and ordered a prostitute...15% off the normal price with video...They told me she was only 20 minutes away.....after 3 days of driving around I couldn't find her.....I called them and they told me I took a wrong turn....I called them back and they said I could take the coupon to any other prostitute....That prostitute wouldn't take it....I called them back again and tried to get a refund They said "What are you complaining about! We just F*&%ed You!" BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang
  18. Being kinda of a shy guy - Unless there is Jeager involved - I think if yall are having a good time and some flirtations, then he is just waiting to be sure that a)its the right time and place b)he is not going to be rejected. In some cases the girls I have dated in the past have made the first move - Unless there was Jeager involved- my .02 worth BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang

  20. Ok pull @ 4:00 (Clock thing) well its almost 4..... Wait its going the wrong way.... . WTF. . . OH S*&%....... . . . God I hope I do this right..... Just kidding. I was actually on AFF when I did my first actual no one near me pull. On exit my instructor and I became seperated do to a bad count on my part and I found my self finally getting stable some distance from him. Until this moment I had trouble with altitude awareness. He came up to dock and I looked at my altimeter and waved him off (At that time @ 5k). I turned tracked and pulled. It was great but I knew I was going to get a chewing out on the ground. The instructor came up to me and shook my hand. He said "Lousy exit but you got stable and knew where you were. Good job." It turns out that he was concerned about my altitude awareness and was coming into dock to make sure I was AWARE. Still had to repeat the jump though(no surprise). BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang

  22. Pretty much in front of me. About 6"-8" from cheeks I just started jumping with the swoop chords so I am still learning the "Suit". It does seem to help me recover easier and regain my position on the formation. I do have a baggy suit but kept going low and not recovering quick enough. I have tried several fall rate techniques and most have worked just not as quickly as with the chords. Someone at the DZ recommended booties but I figured it is something I am doing wrong because I can get there JUST NOT THE LAST 2 Feet. (Maybe its mental.....) Thanks for the suggestion. Leave a little leg left for the final push makes alot of sense to me. I'll try this week. Right now I working on smaller formations with folks who have been instructed to "Just Fall, Let ME Come To YOU." The guys have been great. -Thanks BSBD Home of the Alabama Gang
  23. I know I have too many jumps for this question but... Most of my jumps are accuracy, CRW and 2-4 ways. I recently got a new jump suit with swoop chords to help with my generally fast fall rate. Now I can adjust my fall rate with the best of them, get to my slot and ....then....Nothing. I can never seem to close the last few feet. I am not reaching out, toes pointed hands even with shoulders, but whatever I try to do its like I am against a wall. Some have said that it was my feet but on my last jump I clicked heels and almost got a cramp from straitening my legs and toes and again I could not close. The people I have jumped with have always closed or adjusted the formation to come to me. Only recently did I notice (WFFC Larger formations) I had this problem. Any and all advice would be appreciated.
  24. This one didn't happen to me but was told to me first hand from a gentleman at our dz. Everyday after jumping we will sit around and down a few and generally after about the second or third I would beg to hear this story again. (I hope I get it right) I guess the time was either late 60's or early 70s and Mr X competed in style and accuracy throughout the Southern region (Cottonbelt Conference ?). He lived in Tuscaloosa, Al at the time and from what I gathered they would travel to diffrent DZs, whoevers turn it was to be host. Well things were difficult between Mr. X and his girlfriend at the time and he tied one on pretty good. He then gets a call saying lets go jump at such and such place and he packs his stuff into the car for a 4 hour drive. No sleep or little sleep he arrives at the DZ in a tired, hazy state when someone yells "Hey X come make the wind dummy load with us". So X gears up and heads to the plane. From what I understand the wind dummy loads were, by todays standards, low @ about 1500ft. X gets on the plane (Cessna) and proceeds to fall asleep. Plane climbs to about 1500 and the JM in charge shakes X awake and says come on. X being the last man out decided to have fun. He jumps, rolls on his back and gives the pilot the finger laughing and pointing and generally feeling good about life. Now, still on his back, he notices canopies high above him. Wondering why they had popped so high, a sick feeling grew in his stomach. This jump wasn't from altitude, this was the Wind Drift pass. Quickly he rolled over to his belly and to his horror was directly over the runway. (At this point he pauses and shakes his head. And opens his arms as wide as they would go) "The stripe in the runway was this big!!!" He quickly pulled his main (Round). "I got line stretch, one swing , and my feet touched the runway" he says then with a slight tremble. "I gathered my gear, walked to my car, and without saying a word to anyone, I left" He tells this so much better than I and with more detail. Or maybe its the beers....
