  1. it's tight but looks nice generally I think sunpath sizes the container too loose, so when one wants to downsize it calls for a new one thanks for the answer, I will try 119 in mine, hope it's not too lose https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  2. thanks for the reply what is your reserve model/size? mine is one size bigger than sunpath spec so the main department should be tighter than normal, I suppose https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  3. So I am about to downsize: I have Javelin Odyssey TJNK with PD-R143 & XF2-139 want to go for XF2-119 any experience with that size (119) of canopy in TJNK? by Sunpath chart TJNK is up to 139 main one size smaller is up to 120 main I am conserned because Javelins seem to be on a loose side regarding the main canopy fit any experience with that? https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  4. Scott, isn't it about the original digital rebel (300d)? have you tried to use the 300d firmware in 350d? https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  5. for the record: I just had my first-ever reserve ride because of linetwist (CF2-139@1.5) while flying Firebird when I watched the opening I immediately reached for risers but failed (forgot the wings first) when I reached for the zippers canopy was already spinning fast so I decided not to risk more altitude I failed with one hand and had to pull with both hands to cut-away somehow I have lost the reserve handle :( next time, if enaugh altitude, I will try this trick with risers PS. this was my 100th jump this year and 1-st wingsuit this year (I have in total 15 WS flights) https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  6. Jay, sorry to hear that last weekend I had a spinning mal when opening in wingsuit and lost my reserve handle now I wanted to experiment with different body positions when opening but you warned me https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  7. Am I missing something? yes: hyperfocal distance focus set at 6 ft with aperture at 11 (or more) means subjects at 3 ft up to infinity are in focus basics of photography - my father told me about that some 30 years ago https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  8. I have experimented with differents settings and here are the results (350D with 18-55 kit lens and tounge switch): 1. I do not use sports mode AF was no good, backfocusing on exits etc. due to the AF/AE lock overexposure on exit was tipical ISO 400 not the best quality 2. I use S priority (at 500) with CF4 set to 3 on the ground or in the plane I point at something located at the distance of 5-6 ft and set the cocus there once the focus is set it remains set for the whole session CF4 set to 3 means that the shutter release does not activate focus and it does not lock exposure every shot has it's own metering I use ISO 200 (400 when it's realy cloudy) wb set to sun/clouds metering mode set to center weighter avg AF mode one shot (efectively I use manual-locked focus at 5-6 ft) drive mode - continous image quality L (jpg) this is the best one can get from kit lens IMHO - https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  9. great shot Arvel, a lot depends on the subject(s) https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  10. you can actually see me taking the picture :) https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  11. Hi there, I'm back with some new pictures and manual settings (no AF, focusing at 6', time set to 400, iso 200) seem sharper for me regular one: http://static.flickr.com/45/138414466_9cfed89982_o.jpg and a crop: http://static.flickr.com/46/138414698_d1dc3b33a9_o.jpg https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  12. nice boogie http://www.rotfl.ltd.pl/details,31835.html https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  13. rebel xt and d70s have the same resolution in reality 6M = 8M i.e. picre quality the same d70s is like real stuff while xt is more like a toy d70s would be my choice for anything but skydiving I just bought xt - it's lighter and smaller https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  14. just to keep you updated: the dealer just replaced my lens and I started to get better results (on the ground) as soon as I make some new ff pictures I will post them, hope to get it sharp https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  15. settings of the picture attached the camera was in sports auto-mode which is basically iso-400, ai-focus (continous focusing and predicting moving subject distance) I was using tounge switch helmet is tight I belive I'm pretty stable I bought the camera 3 days ago many of the pictures I have taken on the ground are out of focus maybe it's me not experienced, but I do know something about photograpy my previous digital was olympus 5060 'prosumer compact' - the pictures were great https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  16. it's Chech made Turbolet L-410 18 jumpers I jumped on two different DZs and the pilots always do that to slow it down, don't know why https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  17. would manual focus (and high aperture help)? or is it the not-so-good-lens? ==== actually half of the pictures I've taken are not sharp often second plan is sharper then the main subject anything wrong about the camera? am I missing something important? https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  18. not really, they are just not as sharp as I thought they would be... the second picture is a crop, that's why it blurs here I post the full frame https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  19. thanks I use sony pc350 with 0.3 diamond for video. The frame diff between pictures taken with 18mm lens setting (28mm on 35) and my video is noticable only when I am very close to the subject. so the kit lens works for me https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  20. I have just tested the lens. Actually this was my first still camera jump. Using AF & sports mode. Not very happy with the results though... https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  21. anyone here using that lens for freefall photo? any experience with AF/MF? https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  22. that's what I thought I would do am I the only one to experience that? https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  23. [replyhave your local rigger replace the chest strap for a longer one, abour 5" longer! I have longer strap (an option from Sun Path, at no cost btw). It would take 10'' longer to prevent this... When I am not moving in the harnes and pressing forward against the loose chest strap - no problem. But when the tension goes off it might open https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  24. Javelin with 1'' chest strap has no stop at the end. My normal after-deployment procedure is to secure the slider and loosen the chest strap for landing. I noticed several times, that when I move in the harness the chest strap is loose and it may open. Actually it did once, which I toticed on the groud. Does anybody have similar experience? Has anyone modified the chest strap to add a stop that prevents this? https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
  25. Nikon D70s + Nikkor 18-70 (kit) is about the same price as Canon 20D + 18-55 (kit). AFAIK the lens that comes with canon is cheap, while Nikon puts a desent lens to the box. Which one to buy? Nikon or Canon? I will not be able to buy extra lens, they are expensive. Will have to go with kit. https://www.facebook.com/1skydive/
