if you can figure this one out, you are a computer god
MarkM replied to TrophyHusband's topic in The Bonfire
That's sort of the issue though, XP is so old it's a PITA to get working properly. Win7 or Ubuntu you would've just installed it and been done. Everything basically just works out of the box. -
Docked formations: How far can we take this one....
MarkM replied to mccordia's topic in Wing Suit Flying
The only thing I see with docked wingsuit flying is that it would seem to really favor smaller wing wingsuits. You're going to have outside input(other people docking on you) on your surface areas, the the smaller the area the less likely you'll end up going out of control. -
The entire "battle" long ago went from being about a system used to judging wingsuit records and instead is about ego's, personal grudges and screwing with people. The truth is nobody outside of wingsuiting gives a fuck what system we use to measure records. The paper's don't care, they just hear "official record" and show up for a sound bite. And most non-wingsuiting skydivers don't understand crap about wingsuits and just like to see the pretty formations.

Libraries kick ass. I used to read books from them all the time when I was younger. Would go in, check out 3 or 4 at a time and go through them in a week.

I'm really curious as to how it benefits them, considering it's an open standard anyone can use and implement. Today. And no "DRM" required. Frankly I don't blame them for not showing up in this thread. It's a typical wingsuit forum's conspiracy theory drama fest that pretty much just strokes a few egos.

You jump out of fucking planes. Wear women's underwear if you want to. We don't care and you'll still have more cool points than the whuffo's watching football at home on Sundays.

Yeah, got one a couple weeks ago. Amazing suit. Still learning how to fly it in flocks though, the thing just wants to max out and feels like a completely different animal from my old mach one.

The main issue is that it's on the Atlantic and you have to drive a good distance to get to a bridge to cross the inlet back over to the mainland. But it's a nice area for beach jumps and Sebastian will do them pretty much whenever they can get enough people that want to do a beach jump load.

Well, technically these people aren't early adopters. The G1 was the first Android phone and they worked out a lot of the dev on that device., The Droid launched last month without issues and the Nexus One software isn't that much different from it. The Droid get the same software fairly soon. The hardware is HTC and they're very experienced with these phones. Sounds like it's mostly an issue with how the phones are being sold which is a new thing. That and the way T-Mobile is doing the plan on the contract way of purchasing the phone is fairly craptastic.

Have a bad landing, windy day, canopy is all over the place, you're in a rush, when you're gathering your shit you grab the PC and pull it up through some lines without noticing. Pretty easy to do. I've done that myself too several times, but have always noticed it when packing because the lines are crazy all over the place. Can be a real bitch to clean up too. Simple step throughs are easy to miss unless you always pick up your lines and walk to your canopy. I still rarely walk my lines, only if I have a messy landing or have a vibe that things might be messed up.
-
Or after landing the person steps through some lines. I've packed myself a step through twice and landed both of them. But then were simple flip step throughs, not crazy ones like in this vid.

If those are your dates, skip central Florida and hit the PR boogie that's going on then: http://www.xtremedivers.com/boogie.shtml You'll get a crapload of jumps in and some great partying.

I put about 400 jumps on a hornet, most of those wingsuit jumps. It's a good canopy for that. I'd say the canopy is a little more like a pilot than a saber.

Right, they settle, the lawyers get some blood and move on to another kill... which happens to be the lifeblood of DZs, the tandem industry itself. Wonder how the DZO's that pay group member fees to be "USPA certified"(which no one gives a shit about anyway) feel about that?
-
How about this for a change to the system. How about we have a national skydiving organization that stands up to protect and defend the industry of skydiving when sue happy lawyers come running their way?

Will have a fish sticker on his motorcycle.

The DZs I started at in 2000 didn't do tandems. I'd see the places sometimes put out 10-20 SL students a day out of a 182. It was in Indiana, so they didn't have or need turbines but they seemed to operate pretty well. They weren't mom and pop clubs and they didn't operate in some "back in the 80's" style. One DZ was actually very progressive, they were putting students out on BOC pullouts when most everyone else was still using BOC ripcords. Maybe we'd see fewer otters and more caravans at the "big" DZs. Boogies would be a bigger deal since they'd, again, be the place to go for bigger aircraft.

I get exhausted by group social things. 1 on 1 or chillin with a couple friends is relaxing though. And actually, when I'm tired I can't even group socialize worth a shit. I pretty much just go quiet and veg out. It's to the point where if I'm tired from the day there's no point on hitting the bar with the gang afterwards.

Getting drunk and passing out = boring and could care less. Getting drunk and making out with random cute chick = fun. Don't really need a special night for the 2nd thing though.

Your profile has 3 posts, all of them in this thread. No license, no name, no location, nada. You obviously just created the profile to post anonymously. She knows the guy, you don't. She gets to decide if he'd mind or not.

Why people need to hide behind a fake screen name to complain or gripe about someone is something I don't understand. If you think Nat is full of shit why not just call her on it using your real identity? To me, using a fake name is a lot like talking crap about someone behind their back. Just shows you don't have the balls to talk about it in front of their face or you don't believe in an issue enough to stand behind what you're saying.

So, started in September, fell apart, then started back up recently. You barely know this guy. Keep dating him, but leave yourself the "okay" for taking an exit if things just get too complicated or he turns out to be an ass. There are a lot of other guys out there which are also amazing which will also be totally into you. And for Pete's sake, do not become his emotional cruch. This sounds like the beginnings of one of those relationships where the dude/girl uses the other woman/man for emotional support through a hard time, then splits when everything is great again.

http://skydivingopro.com/osc/images/Mounts/ doesn't seem to be resolving for me, do you have pics of your mounting on any other site? Or can you just attach them to this thread? After how easily my gopro snags lines when I'm gathering up my chute after landing I'm convinced this camera is probably the absolute worst thing out there when it comes to being a snag hazard.
