New to the world of Sky Diving
uponone replied to woodencyclone's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Quote jeez - what kind of harley RUB are you talking about? Most bikes range from 6 to 12, and then drift up past 20k. reply] Have you been in a Harley dealership lately, most sales go well beyond $40 after the bike, gear, insurance, extended warranty, limited edition coffee cup, cool guy harley bandana, billet polished aluminum anniversary pen, etc.... My list of hobbies: racing streetbikes, snowboarding, and skydiving. Skydiving is by FAR the cheapest hobby I do but don't get fooled by people saying after you get your own gear and A license that it's cheap. A weekend of skydiving for me is: 10 jumps = $220 food for 2 full days = $60 (not including booze) booze = $20-$100 (depending on how many firsts and where you eat dinner on Saturday ) gas there and back = $50 -
I love bulldogs, here's a pic of my cutie.

Compared to the rest, I'd say the one on the right.

He's wearing boots, helmet, gloves, and a jacket...and you call him a squid. Be honest with yourself, when it's 100+ outside do you wear that much gear? I don't.

I'm so stoked! A few weeks ago my brand new Bonehead "Pimp Daddy" with a brand new Pro-Track in one side and a Pro-Dytter in the other flew off my head in freefall. I looked for it for a few hours but never found it. I had given up on it and was going to buy a new one but didn't want to spend $600 for everything I wanted. Well I just got a call from a buddy at my DZ that said he searched for it the next weekend on his dirtbike and found it. Yeeeeeesssssss! I'm going to shoot him a $100 reward for looking. Some good advice for you with a stock clip-style connector on your bonehead's, give it a good tug before you get out of the plane to make sure it fully clipped in. Mine felt like it clipped in but obviously it wasn't fully in. $600 is an expensive skydive.

Play Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, that will give you an idea of how to do it. It's really far in the game but you have to do it at some point and the skydiving on that game is far better than any other skydiving game I've played. Good luck.....and skydiving specific games do suck.

Yes Roger Oxborrow is still the manager and it just so happens that he buys bikes off me every other year, so I got an in there. I also sell 10-20 ATV's every other year to Dean Porter who owns Star Farms who just recently got married to Peggy from Mondave Vineyards who I also sell ATV's to and my roomate, who's the Service Manager here, services all of their units. I also talked to my home DZ and they said we could use their C182 and one of their pilots which is probably a better idea than using a non-jump plane and non-jumper pilot. Anyone thinking what I'm thinking

Very cool guys, thanks for responding. Lisa I don't remember when my Dad did his tandem but it was around 10 years ago. It's too bad they shut down, it's just down the rode from my house. Lisa, if you ever need any help organizing a little Paso reunion or boogie let me know I have lots of contacts around here and even know someone with a cessna.

9 all the way, even though they're lopsided.

Dave and his crew in Lompoc are a great group of people but it's more of a tandem factory than I care for and that's why I jump at Taft. But I still want to hear some stories about Paso. I wish there was still a DZ in Paso cause I'm only 1/2 a mile from the airport.
-
Right on, thanks man. I also lived in A-town for quite some time, good to know that some of us can make it out alive.

If it would get more reply's then yes, thank you.

Hey everyone, I have lived on the central coast of California since I was 2, i'm 23 now and I live and work in Paso Robles. My dad passed away from leukemia (sp?) when I was 17 which was obviously tough. A few years before he died he made a tandem jump at the Paso Airport. He totally enjoyed it and often talked about his want to become a sport skydiver. I feel that part of my getting into this sport was because of him and I often "feel" him flying with me in the sky. Anyways, there is no longer a DZ here in Paso so I jump at Skydive Taft but I wanted to know if there are any of you that have jumped back in the day at Paso and could share some stories with me, it would mean alot. And if anyone wants to PM me why it shut down I'm also a little curious of that. Thanks.

Why not?

WOW, too bad you had a student looking for your guidance at the same time. Hopefully he learns to do what you say not what you do.

Shit, I say quit your job and live large

I have the choice to work on Saturday's or not too but the problem is that I'm a salesman on commission only and I make anywhere from $400 up to $2000 on a Saturday, that's alot of money to be missing out on. I guess it makes up for itself because I get to jump on Sundays and Mondays as many times as I can.

Fight fire with fire, get a rooster!

Skydive Taft is also doing it Sat evening around 5:00 and it's free. Maybe not as close to you as Perris but well worth the drive.

What "illness" does he have? Is he possessed? Does he have multiple personality disorder? Bi-Polar? If he was ill and you are his friends why would you let him jump in his so-called "condition"?....and why wouldn't you warn others that he is a clepto. Blaming it on "illness" or a "disease" is bullshit, he stole from his fellow brothers and sisters and that's that. Whatever problems he has you need to tell him to suck it up and be a fucking man and take responsibility. We all have bad days/months/years but some of us deal with our problems the right way and dig out of it while still keeping our dignity, respect, character, and friendships. I don't care how well I know someone or how "sick" they are, I have no respect for people that can't take responsibility for what they've done and point their finger anywhere but at themselves.

Good resource for learning how to flat pack?
uponone replied to Jeff.Donohue's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I agree with superman. I understand if your an old-timer and your better at flat than pro but if your just starting out than learn how to pro-pack, it's easier and like super said majority of people pack that way so there's lots of people to help you.
