Errr...my interest wasn't in the money either. But I have neurotic issues and I would be happier packing my own reserve. Furthermore...I would consider BASE as an alternative for (the seeminly obligatory disciplines that are) freefly and swooping. The Anglosaxon Base crew seem to think it's not a bad idea to become a rigger if you're considering BASE. Anyway: - Becoming a rigger was not really the issue at hand (but it is interesting nevertheless) - This is merely for future reference -

I see. So people do it all the time. Yes that's why I would like to become a rigger once I start skydiving. Pack my own reserve. But from what I hear, it would make my reserve packs REAAAAALLLYY expensive if I became a rigger just to pack my own reserve... -

Here's a whuffo quesion for you. Please do answer me though. Can't you just turn your AAD off? I mean there isn't like a inspector at the dropzone who checks people's gear everytime they jump is there? If it's a money thing...just stick in an AAD that's out of date and swich it off. -

Mind...I don't mean during freefall. I just mean before you take it in for a repack you just testpull it on the ground to see if it opens (well...the first part anyway) Because I heard a story here on DZ of a guy who took in his reserve and decided to pull it just for the hell of it. The thing didn't do shit because of a lead seal. It doesn't matter what it was for this discussion so don't go there. Let's just say the rigger made a mistake. Now I would think it to be a damn good idea to pull your reserve every time you take it in, just to see if the rigger is doing his job. No? (disclaimer: I don't know anything about reserves) -

I will disrespect the hell out of each and every one of my brothers on the List if doing so will keep any others from joining them. Edit. you know what...nevermind. I really have no business telling you people what to do. If you ask me...it's no longer about saving lives, but about having your opinions heard. Saving lives could have been done in 3 posts.
