Question about windtunnel/coaching.
mcezmac replied to mcezmac's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What do you people think? Would it be better to get an hour of windtunnel time or 15 or 30 minutes of tunnel time and some coach jumps? I only have so much money and I would like to get the most bang for my buck. Any thoughts? Thanks. Maybe this should be in safty and training. -
Your Favorite Harness and Container System and Y
mcezmac replied to MLKSKY's topic in Gear and Rigging
Where could someone learn more about this info? I would like to know more about why and how some of these things are designed. -
I could swear the straps on my rig slip too. When I tell people about it they just look at me funny. But, I have not had them move that much.

That exact thing happen to me last night!! I didn't believe it when I saw the white in the kill line. I asked one of the packers about it so I learned something new the easy way.

At my DZ they have one for sale with about 50 jumps for $1,000 and one with about 150 jumps for $900. It sounds like it is the price range of a good used one.

Thanks, I appreciate all the advice!

Triathlons are on sale on the aerodyne web site for $700. I think this is a good price, even so, would it be foolish to buy one without flying it. I have flown spectres and they are OK. I heard they were simular. Thanks

I think almost all of us new jumpers feel that way. I thing that I want is to not let fear get in the way of me doing something that I so enjoy!

Have you ever cut away for an unstowed toggle?
mcezmac replied to cbain's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I cut away when my slider came down and it pulled one of my toggles with it. It did suprise me with how quick it started to spin. All my eyes focused on was how the toggle was caught. "Cla-clink" . It did not even dawn on me at the time to grab the other toggle until a few days latter. Yes, when I think of all I neede to do was maybe grab the other toggle, I do feel silly. I also planned before my jump that if I did have a problem not to spend to much time with it. I had no AAD or a RSL and I was not got to get caught to low. -
Congratulations John

In the Nov. Parachutist, there is an article on RSL's (page 50). It says in the second to last paragraph "At least one harness container system requires the RSL to be disconnected in a two canopies out situation if the reserve has deployed first" Does anybody what container that would be? Thanks

QuoteFirst, consider a PR-193 reserve, at least. Your reserve is usually used when things are already going wrong. If you are steadfast in your decision to go with the PR-176, call PD for a demo canopy. If you can land a 176 well ten landings out of ten jumps, then it might be an okay choice, although a 193 would still be a wiser one. *** That was the mistake I made. My first reserve ride was the smallest canopy I have ever flown. I broke my left wrist , thinking I could land it like my 190. These people are telling the truth when they say consider your reserve size

I am 44. I made my 1st jump this year. I love it. I wish I tried this stuff along time ago! -
