  1. My buddy and I started skydiving together... he's now at flight school in p-cola, and said they're not allowed to jump once they start API (I assume until they're through Advanced). I'm now stationed in Charleston, and our base MWR organizes semi-regular trips to take people skydiving (Tandem or SL though because that's what the local DZ offers I think). so it depends. Brandon
  2. Wasabi peas are basically dried peas that are coated in wasabi. Wasabi is kind of a Japanese version of horseradish - it's greenish and very hot/spicy. Commonly eaten with sushi, some people like it with anything. The peas are eaten kind of like nuts, but imagine a pea soaked in habanero tabasco sauce. Makes you wish for that porter.
  3. 0:6:1 wind cooperated well this weekend... First hop'n'pop First braked approach/landing 3 2-way dives almost done with the license card Brandon
  4. Skydive Monterey Bay has great views of ... well, the Monterey Bay... which is really neat. It's open 7 days a week (Cessna 206 on weekdays, Otter on weekends or sometimes Thurs/Fri afternoon if enough people show up). Figure about an hours drive from the south bay area. Skydive Hollister is pretty good too if you're looking to do group jumps.
  5. That's the order they were written/published in. At some point, someone thought they should mess things up by putting the books in "Narnian chronological order." Can't remember what that is exactly. He wrote 'em the way he wrote 'em.
  6. Check out the following websites: Skydiving Risk, http://www.ranchskydive.com/safety/tb_article07.htm Skiing/Snowboarding Risk, http://www.nsaa.org/nsaa/safety/facts_about_skiing_and_snowboarding.asp Now explain to me how skiing or snowboarding are more dangerous than skydiving? Don't forget to factor in that people often take or buy beer, liquor, and drugs with them on the slopes (yes, I have personally seen and smelled people smoking pot in the trees, although I assume they brought it with them rather than buying it on the slopes), while any reputable DZ will not allow you to consume such substances prior to, not to mention during your jump.
  7. Do you actually think a college student is going to clean rooms or mow a lawn during the summer. Hell no. Most are looking for internships in their fields. Which looks better on a resume: mowed lawns for the summer or interned at Boeing. First, there are MANY MANY more college students than there are available internships, and second, internships are generally only available to rising seniors and occasionally juniors. Students who just finished their first year have litle or no useful coursework/experience to get an internship. I don't know about cleaning rooms, but I do know college students who have gotten summer jobs in landscaping and construction.
  8. In terms of guilt/innocence, you're right. However, taking circumstances and consequences into account when determining a sentence is done all the time.
  9. ...it is not the same as protecting a source that leaked information that may be newsworthy and embarrassing, but not otherwise classified. J +1. Freedom of the press only means that they can print news. It doesn't mean they're free to break into someone's office and look through their files to find the news.
