Thanks a lot everybody who responded. I had done my first sky dive jump in tandem at the ranch several years back. I did my 2nd jump at crosskey last weekend. I have heard that no medical plan covers injuries caused by sky diving. Is that true? I would appreciate any information about this. Thanks

Now that I know procedures on getting trained, I would like to make a decision on where should I get the basic traning for getting into this sport. I live in Newark,NJ. So a drop zone closest will be 1 of my preference. I have several other preferences like safety, cost, right training, good instrcutor, etc etc. On basis of that can you guys post your experience and recommendations which drop zone I should get my traning at? Also mention reasons why do you think I should choose a particular drop zone over the others if you can. Appreciate all your help in this matter. Thanks in advance Jignesh Soni

At what point can you get other people in tandem with you? I mean somebody who wants to do their first sky diving jump in tandem, when can you do it with them? Are people who are into insturctions do this for full time and do it for living? Is this a good profession? Do people get into this profession for money or for the fun of it? or for both? Does it pay good? I would love to get my mother and my father to do tandem with me someday? I am not sure if it is all worth it? Can anybody tell me the possibilities? Thanks in advance.

Does that mean its ok to pull at even 13500 and have a long long parachute ride?
-
Why 4000/5000/6000 limit for opening the parachute? Any reason not to open it at 13500 itself and have a longer parachute experience? Is it cold? Or is it limitation of the chute which may get damaged at that height? I am sorry if I am posting many questions here. But I think thats what this forum is meant for? Let me if anybody thinks this as an abuse. Thanks

Who decided the 13500 limit? Is it the kind of aircraft which can only go to that heights? OR is it something to do with law? OR is it due to thin air or cold? I was wondering why not go to 30-40 thousand feet and have a longer free fall?

I have heard that there are also options where you can jump out of plane yourself solo and the parachute opens by itself. This does not include any free fall. Are such options availale for new people in the sport? How much would it cost? Thanks

I am really confused here about this. I have heard conflicting things about this. Basically I want to know at what point will I do solo jumping without supervision? i.e. which will cost me 15-25$ per jump if I get my own gear. I have got 2 answers: 1) I have to get my A License. 2) I don't have to get A License. A License is not mandatory to jump by yourself without supervision. It's just an option.

Do you think you can give me a break up of 5000$? How much for getting the training and license and the gear? Thanks for your reply.

I am in NJ, USA. At what point it should cost me 15$ - 25$ Does anybody know a nice place to learn the sport?

I woder how people end up doing 500,600 even thousands of jumps. How much do they actually pay for each jump. I did my first sky dive in tandem 3 years back and I paid around 170$ total. I am doing another one tomorrow and paying the same money. At what point do I pay less? How much does it cost to all the people who did so many jumps? I want to make sure I can afford to get into this sport.
