How long does it take you to feel comfortable/secure in a relationship?

I've been married for 18 years and still am not "comfortable/secure" -- I think that relationships are ongoing processes that requires changes and "tweaks" all the time. Those that have not jumped can not understand Those that have jumped can not explain. -
Cyprus, 1974, was within 20 feet of an exploding 81mm mortar shell. Senior year in high school, 1983, flipped car into ditch (end-over) on Halloween night. 2005, jumped from a perfectly good airplane. Each was a learning experience: 1) Don't be near a war without the ability to shoot back. 2) If you don't know the capabilities of the car, don't drive, and if you are going to be in a wreck, don't have it happen on halloween, 'cause when you walk, dazed and bleeding, to the door of the nearest house, they try to give you candy. 3) There is NO such thing as a perfectly good airplane. Looking to sell: 1997 Jeep Wrangler (TJ), low miles, Rubicon Express 4.5" suspension lift, currently running 33x12.5 BFG all-terrains. Custom rear rack, custom front bumper with attach for 12,000lb winch (winch included, but needs new motor). May post in the forsale forums soon... I got it all spiffed up and then got lost in doing other things and didn't get to trail ride much.. it's been sitting, unloved, in my driveway for nearly 2 years now. Damn I miss Jeeping. Ouch. Prayers for the families of those involved. It's hard to explain to teenagers that they are not going to live forever and that decisions that they make (involving drinking, driving, AND riding with drunk drivers) really can and do have life and death consequences. Perhaps this horror will lead to others taking more of a stance against drunk driving. Those that have not jumped can not understand Those that have jumped can not explain.

Join the local volunteer fire department. Nothing soothes the pyromaniac quite like firefighting. BTW, other than the lack of beer @ the firehouse, I could see the guys playing this game... Uh.. I'm not sure that you want a pic of me, and since I'm just a wuff-diver anyway... 17yr volunteer firefighter, 1yr jumper from airplanes. Now, if a collection is taken up to get me those next 2 jumps, I'll be running solo... and THEN.... Those that have not jumped can not understand Those that have jumped can not explain. -
