    A lot depends on the age of the house. Newer houses have horizontal inserts between the studs at (I think) 2 feet above floor-level that act as fire-barrier as well as cable-deterrant. I've had no luck what-so-ever getting any cable runs in unless I did them before the drywall was put up... Get one of those (yeah, go ahead and laugh) stud sensors and see if you can find any horizontal studs. Good luck with it!     Almost... my "falling down, waking up just before bouncing" dreams (nearly weekly) have turned into "falling down, swoop away at the last moment and THEN wake up" dreams (not as often as before I jumped).     You should see it now! It's all pussy and white. YUCK! Yeah.. as an emergency responder, it's always fun getting to remove/watch people remove body piercing parts that are not in the best place after an incident of some type. Then there's always the "oh-my-God-I-lost-the-stud" when you ask someone about their bleeding tongue/earlobe/belly-button. And I'll never forget going to a conference and talking to a guy that had just gotten his nipples pierced... said that he forgot, threw his suitcase strap over his shoulder and just about ripped his tit off.     No problem -- watching some of our local ambulance drivers (love you all, really!), I'm surprised that this does not happen more often... Glad there are not more cameras around. These new cell-phone/camera/movie things are going to wreak havoc on the emergency response community as far as "liability" goes.     I've seen wake-up modems (prior to wake-up LAN). They have an external power source. Yup, some of the motherboards that I've played with recently have several "wake-on" feature -- lan, usb, serial, mouse, kbd, etc. but none of these are anything near what the original poster was looking for, I don't think. Man, wake-on-modem... that's old-school. I fondly remember my 110baud modem and the days of the dialup BBS. *SIGH* Those that have not jumped can not understand Those that have jumped can not explain.
