I'll assume you've never smelled chittlins cooking. That's bad food. Good sausage casings, but bad food. Those that have not jumped can not understand Those that have jumped can not explain.

Having taken the "DoD Emergency Preparedness Course" (training liason officers to act between Military and Civilian commands), I must say that I'm glad that SOMEONE is thinking about this crap. Sure would suck for something really bad to happen (and it just might, you know), and nobody have any clue as how to act. Game on! After the hell that I went thru with my folks when I told them that I was actually going to continue on as a volunteer firefighter, there's no way in HELL that I'm going to tell them that I made 3 skydives. They learned of the first because they were keeping my kids for me at the time (and I couldn't wipe that silly-ass grin off my face). #2 and #3 are "our little secret". Ah, it's not that. My wife has also made 3 jumps with me (she actually exited before I did each time... why do they keep putting me on the plane FIRST? #&@#*&$) The issue is the ability to continue jumping with enough regularity to not cause issues.. My kids (10 and 12) who can't jump yet deserve my time as well.. My weekends are filled with soccer, school related stuff, church, etc. etc. It's hard to be sure that I can keep up jumping every 30 days, and I don't want to become a danger due to 'stagnation'. I've almost rationalized that I'd rather not solo just because I don't want to know what I'm missing. This post which I posted in the wrong thread (didn't realize there was a numbers for each weekend) tells more of the story. 1 CASA, 2 Otters -- life is good. Ok, I've done 3 tandem jumps and, for family reasons, probably won't be able to continue the sport (though I'd love to). Now, the question: am I still a whuffo? Discuss... Those that have not jumped can not understand Those that have jumped can not explain.

$1,399 (add a 5 yr warranty), and I'd HIGHLY recommend: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7267815&type=product&id=1117177722061 I have the previous model and I love it. Plenty fast for gaming, video editing and everything else. Good luck with it. Those that have not jumped can not understand Those that have jumped can not explain.

0:1:4 Thanks to the guys at CSS for putting up with my wife and me over the last 3 months. Looking at the requirements for "maintaining" chute certification, I don't think that I should go farther. While I'd love to go AFF and get my Class A, the facts of life lead me to understand that I'm probably not able to keep up a jump every 30-60 days, and that without that level of jumping, the expense (and annoyance) of keeping someone watching over my shoulder is not fair to anyone. To the folks @ CSS, I'd like to say thanks: Tony, Peter and Matt: good jumps, and Blue Skies to you guys! I owe each of you a case of something, as each of my 3 jumps lead to another first. Eric: Great videos. Nothing like being able to show the guys here @ work what skydiving is all about. I didn't pay for you to jump with us, but seeing the work you do, I wish I had. I owe you one, bud. I'll probably keep jumping (tandem) when I 'just need that feeling', but as I said, keeping up certification with my current schedule is a no-can-do. The amazing thing is that she suprised me with the first jump. All I knew that was on our anniversary, I was to keep 8:00am -> 3:00pm free. It was tough, as I was on call that weekend and had to get someone to cover... we had a major system melt-down on the night of the 3rd/morning of the 4th that had me getting to bed at 6:00am on Saturday (4th) morning. As I crawled into bed my wife told me that if I was too tired, we would skip, but that she had gotten us a tandem parachute jump... I was up in an hour and ready to go. I'm all up for AFF, but she continues to tell me that #3 will be her last and that we will have to "seriously discuss" any further jumps on my part. I've not priced out AFF yet, but plan to continue skydiving as much as possible. Anyone need a slightly used wife? (yes, it's a joke JOKE JOKE!!!) To continue in the off-topic chatter, a friend of mine was in Europe for the last couple of months, and when he saw that I had gone skydiving, he went while in Switzerland: report here: http://www.letired.net/?p=78 pictures here: http://www.letired.net/gallery5/index.html I think he's going with us this weekend as well. Computer consulting -- network / security. Two observations from a new jumper: One: I'm a volunteer firefighter (for fun).. odd thing here is that I thought that I'd get my buddies on the department to jump. Out of 40 members, I got 37 "____ no", 2 "possibly" and 1 "sure, as soon as I get a free weekend". Conclusion: being stupid enough to run into a burning building does not mean that you will jump out of "a perfectly good airplane". Two: I've discovered that the chatter in the plane on the way up to jump is quite similar to the ride on the back of a firetruck on the way to a fire/wreck call.. for the most part, jovial, nearly horseplay.. followed by a definite sense of "ok, it's time to do somethign serious". Conclusion: Both groups understand when we need to get the work done. Blue Skies! Those that have not jumped can not understand Those that have jumped can not explain.

Hello everyone. I've been a lurker here for quite a while, but never actually thought I'd get to jump. On June 4th, my 17th wedding anniversary, my wife and I jumped for the first time at Carolina Sky Sports in Louisburg, NC. We jumped again on July 3rd, and plan to jump again (weather permitting) this coming Saturday, August 6th. I have to figure out how to make skydiving a job requirement. Any ideas? So, you've had 1 full skydive but only 1/2 an airplane flight. Nice!
