  1. Next time I am so THERE!!! I miss you guys at Skydive Temple...I am gonna come soon and get re-certified...again...
  2. I can't believe no one has mentioned her book. I picked it up randomly at Half Price Books 3 years ago (had never heard of her). I loved it! I laughed out loud several times and admired her spirit throughout the book. Blue skies, Rita. http://www.amazon.com/Falling-Into-Place-Rita-Ippoliti/dp/0972335102
  3. "Lady on the toilet...the bird is the word" Hillarious!
  4. Wow!! Saw them this weekend at the ACL festival. Always liked them but now I am a true fan...they put on a hellava show!! We were lucky enough to get tickets to the taping of the Austin City Limits show of them playing...less than 2 hundred people there and we were in the front row. Amazing performers!! Can't wait now to buy their CD's!! Can't wait until the taping airs...big party at my house that night!!
  5. It was hilarious!
  6. As soon as the gates opened we immediatly booked it to Space mountain. Rode it twice in 25 minutes because there was no line yet. I love that ride.
  7. I read somewhere that the guy who plays Nathan Petrelli on "Heros" is a skydiver.
  8. My mouth would get very dry from nerves in the plane...carry an altoid or 2...it helps... Have fun...can't wait to hear about it!!
  9. I am pretty sure I 'got' that part of the post. Let me rephrase the 'old-fart' view: Going to make your first jump 'all by yourself' was not big deal many years ago. That was how it was normally done. And it was an 'all by yourself' jump once you left the plane. So someone today saying that their friend(s) won't come out to the DZ with them and watch or participate in their jump is kind of in the 'WTF-who cares' regime. Sorry I don't have empathy for the people that need someone to 'watch their first jump' or do a first jump with them. I think the folks that actually do become jumpers are the ones that don't need an audience and jump because they want to. That was true 25 years ago and it is true today too. . Wow...I guess everyone can't be a fearless skygod like yourself... I always wanted to skydive....just once. I was very scared and nervous and I probably would have kept on making excuses not to if someone had not bought me a tandem for my birthday and went out to the dropzone with me to make a jump. Sometimes the support of friends make all the difference. I have brought close to 30 tandems out to the DZ to make a jump...and a lot of them were nervous and glad that they had a familiar face in the plane with them. One of them said he would have never done it "by himself"...and now he has gone back and done 2 more tandems!! I agree with Jewels...why don't we show some support? Don't you remember what your first jump was like?
  10. YAYY!!! Congratulations! Isn't that the best feeling? I did one, got my fingers twisted in my partners chest strap on exit and could not get them out (they are sore today). Then almost had to cut away when my canopy opened. (It delayed and flopped around before opening and then when it finally did it was full of line twists.) This was after we got into a hit and run accident on the way to the dropzone. We chased the person and caught them when they jumped a tall median and blew out their tires. Was still a good day, though. I learned that when my canopy looks like it is not going to open I still did not panic and thought about what I might of had to do next.
  11. Come on, guys...anyone? Really hard for me to get out on weekends... I need my altitude fix!!!
  12. you guys are awesome!! Thanks for all the great suggestions. Sounds like 2 days is the way to go for disneyland...
  13. Aww...why is that? The "standard" family vacation of touring California, spending multiple days at Disneyland, planning a family day at the beach, etc, just sounds like hell to me. I have no desire to ever remotely resemble any Chevy Chase character. Blues, Dave Thanks for stealing my sunshine...but if you read my first post over I was not asking you to go along so you are safe...
  14. I'm off today and tomorrow...would love to get in a few jumps since I work weekends! Anyone else?
  15. So we are breaking down and doing something that I always wanted to do as a kid and never did...taking our kiddos to Disneyland! Got a few "tourist" questions for you California peeps... How many days are we gonna need at the park? We wanna be in California for 4-5 days...what other stuff should we do while we are there? I know we wanna go to the beach one day...which one should we go to? Thanks for the info...I am so excited!!
  16. He's right. Actually, in all fairness, I was about 13 years old or so when I saw Point Break and that was the movie that made me want to skydive in the first place.
  17. Awesome!! I bet it was a good show!!
  18. I am working, working, working all weekend... I have your helmet in my car if you wanna stop by and grab it...I usually carry my stuff with me on weekends just in case I get off work before the sun goes down. I work downtown, though. I would swing by and drop it off for you before work but I gotta be there at 6:00 AM.
