This is one thing I like about the BPA's rules - you MUST get a flightline check before you get in the plane. Even if it's not mandatory, I still think it's a good idea cos it's easy to overlook something that could cause major trouble later (like this)

If you plan on freeflying, don't go for option 1. I got a superfly and it's a nice rig, but I don't really rate the older teardrops.
