That is a very helpfull answer - Sparky - Thanks!

How do you inspect a 15 year old reserve to proof that it is still as good as it was after leaving the factory. What are all the MfG's saying about inspection of an old reserve?...? To repack a reserve 20 year long, does not mean that it would work at the limits at the time you need it!! Would you like to drive 15 year old tires up to 200 kts on you car only by looking to the color and kicking them with one foot? Guido Reusch
-
ups!! that could become expensive for them!
-
The SPARK is made by Performance Variable - Germany. It's at Germany/Europe a very popular i/m canopies - very simular to Sabre 1 but with fabric from Galvanor. We have Sparks here with 2000 or more jumps on! The quality is good - no problem! The 150 opens sometimes a littlebit rough (like the sabre) but never unfair! Take it - it's OK

I don't believe it's a kind of "They don't like the vigil" or "they do like it". It's just safety! If something will happen with the vigil-cutter on a RI-Container (see last Vigil-SB), People will not only look to the AAD! RI start to make the approval-Tests for the Argus this month. We will get an answer this summer!
-
From RI Website: As of this date, Rigging Innovations DOES NOT approve the installation and/or use of the Vigil AAD in any RI product. The manufacturer of the Vigil AAD has taken upon themselves to authorize the installation of the Vigil AAD in any Cypres ready or approved harness and container system. This is in opposition to the FAA and the harness and container manufacturer. In accordance with AC105-2C, the AAD installation must be approved by the FAA as part of the harness and container TSO data package. There are certain technical issues that have been identified and need to be resolved before RI can authorize the use of the Vigil in any RI product.

Worldwide Tandem Models (Was: Javelin Tandem Rig????)
reusch replied to riggerrob's topic in Gear and Rigging
Sorry Rob, Weckbecker is still alive and sitting in Italy now. He had built the PIT Container (I,II,III, IV, IVs,V) but never a Tandem. The Top Flyer was built by FROHWEIN/GLOSE and GLOSE is dead. If you had ever jumped one of these, it wasn't certified by any ACO in Europa or USA. so I think we better take this out. Isn't there a NEW ZEALAND Tandem? "Hope-Tandem" or so? Guido Reusch -

The Techno 240-B Reserve from Parachute de France das been grounded by the EASA for all EASA-Member-states. EMERGENCY AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE AD No : 2006-0105-E - Date: 28. April 2006 Type Approval Holder’s Name : Parachutes de France Type/Model designation(s) : Techno 240-B ETSO Number : DGAC France F.O.095 ATA 25 Equipment – Temporary grounding of reserve parachute Applicability: Techno 240-B, P/N: R 01-240-B – All serial numbers – Reserve Parachute Reason: A slow deployment of the reserve canopy TECHNO 240-B has been determined. It has been determined that the allowable opening altitude loss / opening time is not met. The proposed solution of Parachutes de France Safety Bulletin BSC_06_002, dated 21.04.2006 is not accepted by EASA to provide an equivalent level of safety. As a consequence the unit may not act as a safety device. Effective Date: 28. April 2006 Compliance: Accomplish the following immediately after the effective date of this airworthiness directive: THE USE OF ALL THE Techno 240-B PERSONAL PARACHUTES IS PROHIBITED NOTE: This is an interim AD action and will be amended after compliance with the requirements has been shown. It's not a question of Days or Month - it's a question of responsibility! Should be a federation responsible by making one strictly rule regardless what it is - or is the manufactore responsible by knowing his material better than anybody else? The "European" do not step to 12 Month - We changed our system by following what the manufactorers recommanded! For some of the manufactorers we still have 120 Days, other 180 Days, but mostly 12 Month. Listen to the people who knows about it! Guido Reusch

....so as a Master Rigger, dear Pablito, please tell us - how does it work!? Guido Reusch
-
That sound fair!! You guys will meet at Reno, and having beer, and we are sitting here without an answer! So, please let us also take part of the mystical X-File "MINOR CHANGES"! Guido Reusch
-
A name on a list, doesn't mean that the equipment I like to use is current or not! It only confirmed that the manufactory has a certification for what ever. With 30 Years in sport you should know that. Mjosparky, please read by questions again (may it helps) and try to answer them, but please do not try to push me in a corner I'm not belong to! Thanks To ask some critical questions doesn't mean to have issues to something or somebody! That should be possible, everytime, everywhere and for everybody (outside Guantanamo, ups.. sorry!) Question: Could it be that the Mirage, Mirage RTS, G3 and G4 from Mirage system has NO TSO? I checked all 4 Manuals and at non of them the Word "TSO" is listed. Nor there is a FAA-TSO certification discription. Mirage system never ever said i that they have FAA-TSO for there H/C-Systems. They said on page 4 (G3): Low Speed Parachute Limited to use from Airplane under 150 mph what should means maybe C23d or c23b cat. c and on the same page: To lower the risk of death, serious bodily injury, canopy damage, container damage and hard openings, never exceed 130 kts. deployment speed. what should means maybe C23b cat. b So what? Has anybody ever asked them what it means? And if they have TSO c23...whatever? The Annex Inc. got for RTS1 and RTS2 TSO-c23b and Mirage takes over this to Models Rapid Transit System 1 & 2 - both 2-Pin H/C. So what, if they never applied for 1-Pin TSO Certification? And a change from 2-pin in the back or horizontal 2-pin on top, to a 1-Pin on top is for sure not an minor-change! And if it is an minor change in the opinion of FAA, please could somebody be so kind and switch the lights off at ACO, because it's a waste of time and money to asked this people for any certification! Maybe somebody is able to figure that out? Guido Reusch
-
Would somebody be so kind and explain me a major change to H/C in view of FAA-TSO! Guido Guido Reusch
-
Could you tell me what kind of H/C you are jumping with? PC-size and material (F-111/ZeroP)? Regards, Guido Guido Reusch

Do you think we are not working and jumping with approved parachutes? There is no unapproved parachute Equipment around the word, but some parts do not have FAA-TSO. What do you think we are jumping with? Pillows, papertowels or blankets? C-23d is not for US-citizens only. It is used with 8015b as a standard worldwide! And we are working with certificated parachute riggers as well! You are on one's high horse! If you guys step over to Europa nobody would ever comment about your US-Riggers, not because that they be in the fore, no! Because we will accept your rules at your country with your insurance and your licence! Rules by country of origin! Please do not comment with:" But that's our law, made by FAA....." Your Manufactories mostly gave us permission for repackcycle about 1 Year (PD, Sun Path, RWS,.......) and we like to use it since 2002 now. Skydivers, Organisations and Riggers are happy with this regulation, because it comes from people how should know better than anybody else what to do. In according with your interpretaion it should be better to jump in the US with an "approved equipment" so we could follow our rules (1 Year), than jumping an "approved" Equipment!!!! Blow me down! US-People jumping a Javelin with PD-R have to repack all 120 Days - rules by FAA, pencilpack possible! We european-people jumping a Javelin with PD-R have to repack ones a year - rules by manufactory riggers only! That's an absolute scream! If we talk about approved equipment, here is the 10,000 $ question. What is the commonalty of this 4 rigs: Javelin Odyssee Vector III Micron Mirage G4 and Power Racer ??????????

Here is the full FAR quote to see if I toke something out of the context. FAR .49 doesn't say anything about TSO or Non-TSO Equipment! And it doesn't matter what kind of equipment I like to use if I like to jump in the states as a foreign jumper! You are wrong, Mark! May the dropzone-Rigger doesn't like that, may the dropzoneowner doesn't like that too - but that's what FAA likes to do! A Javelin or PD-Reserve with your FAA-TSO is an unapproved Equipment in our country. And if you see how your US-manufactories obtain the TSO and how the "Grandfahtering-System" with all the minory changes was used, better you are not so proud on you "TSO-EQUIPMENT". For sure we will come to this back later! ------------------------------- §105.49 Foreign parachutists and equipment. (a) No person may conduct a parachute operation, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow a parachute operation to be conducted from that aircraft with an unapproved foreign parachute system unless -- (1) The parachute system is worn by a foreign parachutist who is the owner of that system. (2) The parachute system is of a single-harness dual parachute type. (3) The parachute system meets the civil aviation authority requirements of the foreign parachutist's country. (4) All foreign non-approved parachutes deployed by a foreign parachutist during a parachute operation conducted under this section shall be packed as follows -- (i) The main parachute must be packed by the foreign parachutist making the next parachute jump with that parachute, a certificated parachute rigger, or any other person acceptable to the Administrator. (ii) The reserve parachute must be packed in accordance with the foreign parachutist's civil aviation authority requirements, by a certificated parachute rigger, or any other person acceptable to the Administrator. regards, Guido Reusch

Note that if you plan to take a skydiving vacation in the USA, Americans insist that all TSOed parachutes (including Javelins) be repacked on a 120 day cycle. ------------------ Please note FAA Cap. 105.49 Foreign parachutists and equipment. .... (ii) The reserve parachute must be packed in accordance with the foreign parachutist's civil aviation authority requirements, by a certificated parachute rigger, or any other person acceptable to the Administrator. For foreign Parachutists and equipment all-over the word the rules of country of origin are significant. Guido Reusch German Master-Rigger Association Guido Reusch

Yes, I think his name is Charles "Hook" von Sury! He's a Rigger near Zurich in the swiss. He's jumping a Contrail 135, black with a white Pirate Head&Bones on it. guido Guido Reusch
