SGC Halloween Party Saturday 10/25/03
jazzjumper replied to Paige's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Yes...the Halloween party is 25th...but the PARTY starts on Friday. Girl, catch up! No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! -
Clint! What an awesome place to open a DZ...have you got the Lip Trix boys involved? Hope so, they are a great bunch of flyers. Hope to come out and see you guys soon. I used to call Skydive Utah, Skydive Salt Lake, and Skydive Ogden home. Blue Skies in your startup! r/Jamie No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

SGC Halloween Party Saturday 10/25/03

Sky Bunny, what in the hell do you mean, Saturday afternoon! The party starts on FRIDAY! Get your cute butt, (and all those wannabes) out there and lets play! We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! -
I don't think anyone can over analyze an "oh shit, how did this happen kind of skydive." Frankly, things like this need to happen to teach us. First, everyone landed safely. Second, you recognize there is a problem. Third, 100 jumps should plenty for a 6-way if the person has been doing belly work. So what went wrong? Well, 100-jumper didn't check his/her alti and make a good call. Also, experienced jumper did an unplanned rodeo and scared younger jumper. It happens, everyone dealt with it, even though there were mistakes. Yes, one of the more scary things in freefall is to see a pilot chute come out directly below you. You all made it out safely. So how can it be avoided again? Well, if this jumper has his/her head on straight, jump with them more. Try some two ways where there is some planned instability. Basically, fruit loop them...but warn them. Being unstable, and getting stable is pretty basic survival skills. Keeping track of altitude is as well. Learning some of these skills with small groups and then going up is great practice. Put them in tough situations, and watch them grow. Now, there are some who never learn. I know people woith 500-2500 jumps who are a bit scary from breakoff until my canopy is touching the ground. Some just won't listen, so best just save yourself in that instance. That could mean leaving a big way just a tad early, or simply not being in the same formation as Dr. Dangerous. Bottom line...teach and help others to grow safely. We lose too many. If they are beyond your help...pass them along to someone who can help them. Peace... No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Okay, I am a whore. But shows up good on video? Dude, have you seen it? It glows! No shit... there is a halo around me. Not cool, need to roll in the peas a bit. Thinking that color scheme might be a bit bright (yet, you can seem me exit the plane on a night jump from the ground! No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! -

Damn dude! Take care of yourself out there, would ya? Review your decision altitudes, emergency procedures, and gear checks! You're lucky you didn't have a cypres fire, or worse! Ditto to what Seth said. Did you have an uncocked pilot chute? Back to gear checks before the plane and in the plane....and yeah, don't hesitate to chop if shit ain't happening right. Seth! Welcome to the fray. Hey, I can't find the original either...but I couldn't help but kick Wrong Way when he was down. Bring Val to the Halloween Boogie so I can hit on her. j/k, but are you two coming? No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! -

[reply Did you mean "impugn?" That means to attack someone with words or arguments, or to make insinuations against; he didn't do that. He did mention that she packed him a mal. That's not an attack, just a statement of fact. And to make sure that no one took it as an attack he posted the above clarification. Right, but I used the French spelling, sorry about that. As far as the rest, the insinuation was that she packed a mal (like, she went, uh oh....hope this shit opens, or worse, that'll teach the bastard), rather than packing a parachute that mal-ed (and then cleared.) Why even mention the person at all, esp when you're pissed because she broke off a relationship? And if you decide that is cool, just brace for an attack (which happened.) Hey man, life is all about choices...chose wisely. Words mean things, and on line, they amp people up. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! -

Jason, Listen pal, we have been friends...and that is why I took the time to respond. I think the point of my post was missed. Hell, this is like trying to dirt dive a hybrid when everyone wants to sting. Basic point is, if you air dirty laundry, expect people to defend friends, etc. Shitty day or not, live with it. It's life, its a DZ, we watch marriages fail as well as relationships. It's not the end of the world...hell, you guys are way too young to be seriously worried about "relationships." Regardless of your intentions, the impact is something else. Passive agressive is still agressive. To the rest of the folks who want to come to WrongWay's defense, knock yourself out. The dude is young and is learning. He's in ready, fire, aim mode most of the time, but he's figuring it out. I recognize him cause I was like him at 20. If I didn't care, I wouldn't be sending him loud clues to keep him alive at his home DZ. Now, about my jumpsuit...and free fly pants for that matter. There is a good reason I use really fucking bright colors...basically, it's a warning to you all. Hell, my pants even have a caution stripe down the side... it that doesn't make you think twice, you're on your own. And no, I won't be on your arm at the Halloween Boogie. However, I still think we need to try a 3-stack totem (and get it on video). Peace....and breath. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! -
Why not? I hit on her when he was here! Damn, dude, stop it with the rules! No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Well, just because you say it doesn't mean we won't get snippy with you. I didn't read the original post, but bringing that crap up here with as well thought of as she is at SGC is only asking for trouble. Sounds like you had a mal that cleared, and problems do happen. I fail to see the importance of mentioning someone who could be recognized when trying to make a point, unless that point is not to let that person pack for you. The significance of mentioning this info had only one goal, to impune the packer. Making crap personal out here only begs for others to come in and either add fuel to the fire, or start their own in defense. Now if the post was about doing gear checks, packing for yourself instead of having your girlfriend do it, or proper body position when thowing out your PC, then maybe I could understand the comment. However, it would seem that this is just a lame ass attempt to attack an ex-girlfriend because you're pissed off that things didn't work out. Better to talk about things in general terms and how a certain approach or attitude can improve skydiving, rather than to simply impune a person for a mistake. Otherwise, we could be out here all week long bitching about the guy who hit us so hard on a 4-way freefly that it shorted out the camera, and then denied doing it until shown the video of the event. Frankly, being knocked out in a sit is much scarier to me that having a PC in tow that clears itself (or any mal that clears)....but what the hell, maybe that collision was my current girlfriend's fault. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! -
I would think demo, demo, demo. I'm 189 out of the plane. I've flown Sabre 170/150, and my Safire 149 (which is about 136 sq ft). I loved my Sabres...learned to pack them so they were quite good to me. I think that the Safire is a bit different, esp opening characteristics. At certain landing altitudes the flare can be much diff as well. If you are looking for value, Sabres are the way to go. I love my Safire but need more zoom soon. Demo stuff, Sabre is a great intermediate canopy. You can learn a lot with it, you should be able to find many on line for sale this winter. Good luck and blues skies. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Well, you've got the right idea (demos). I'm flying a Safire 149 (and the Safires are 7% smaller in sq ft than the number). It was a blast landing at 5000 MSL (Utah), but is docile closer to sea level. I've recently demo-ed a Stilleto 135, as was way impressed with the riser pressure (lack of), instant recovery arc, and the flare performance. The long snivels are a bit much, I like a skippy opening. I'm in line to demo a Katana 135 and 120. I'm also trying to demo a similar size Crossfire 2. Any of these will land nicely with a straight in approach at my wing loading (1.4-1.5:1), so the issue with be opening performance, harness control, riser pressure, recovery arc, and my own stupidity. I think demoing something is the only way to go. Don't worry about taking your time, or even spending a little extra money. You can make more money, you might not be able to recover from a bad landing. Good luck on your quest! r/Jamie No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
