Dan Rather "memo's" report was fair and balanced
jazzjumper replied to Mirage63's topic in Speakers Corner
You're leaving out one of the most extreme left-wingers on the forums. Don't keep me in suspense. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! -
Not certain I agree with that statement. Russian still has potentially formidable nuclear weapons, there status of upkeep and flyability is GREATLY in question. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Believe anything? No, but believe a leftwing mouthpiece? I've got odds on them being of Kallend, Billvon, and PhillyKev? Just curious who else came up with those three. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit! -
Right, my point was not one has had the resources, reasons, or guts to try. There is a reason for that. Well, I wouldn't say that Japan did America a favor. If history isn't what it was, then it would be something else...on this we agree. On what it would be is anybody's guess. This is all off point. The point is the US is more often the rescuers (big picture) than rescuees (little picture.) When was the last time we asked France, Germany, or Japan for help because we needed it to win (rather than to pacify the left?) No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Ah, yes then we were attacked, but still on our soil. I stand corrected, however it still doesn't change my point. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

True, but define super power? In WWII terms, we were invaded in Hawaii. I know you meant continental, but Japan didn't take the island. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Ah, good point. However, if you look at history, those were self-inflicted problems. Our government could have won and ended those conflicts on our terms, but the administration didn't have the will to finish something they started. Of course, this get very deeply in to geo-political issues, and Korea certainly could have led to the first nuclear exchange. Vietnam was a complete, self-imposed cluster. My point is we had the power but not the will to end both of those. It only until it was too late from a world view that we had to tuck and run. It's not like they had us by the throat and we couldn't do anything. The administration didn't give us the go ahead to win it all. Huh? Did is someone mumbling? Part A doesn't blend with part B. The point is we have been bearing the brunt of it since WWII...and we never needed to be rescued in any of those conflicts. Our allies have caught more AQ suspects than us, but we've killed more than they have. I'm sure I didn't say or imply we did it all ourselves. While I don't like to feed the trolls (hey, put your profile info in so we know something about you), I think the point is we don't surrender. We also don't need other countries bailing us out of jams. In our infancy (revolutionary times) we certainly got help and were quite grateful for it. But now, there is this constant bickering of how the US sticks it's nose in where it doesn't belong....then those same nations scream help and foul when we decide that our dollars could best be spent helping other countries (not them.) The European nations want our dollars, but they want them without constraint. Many of us US citizens are damned sick and tired of it. We pay 25% of the UN fee, and Europe wonders why we get upset that the UN won't enforce resolutions against a rogue dictatorship with a history of attacking and invading neighbors. Now Europe is mad because foreign aid is slow or drying up because Iraq is costing us so much. Well, I guess that is what you get for not helping to enforce your own resolutions (countries that are helping excluded...GB, etc). 9-11 taught us a valuable lesson. We aren't taking it anymore under Bush. If Kerry gets elected, terrorism will get much worse because he won't act decisively enough (or with enough force) to deter them. I think the answer will be found eventually to be Syria. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Read back through them. He didn't take the other three opportunities when the Sudan offered him up. Hello!!!! We those three attempts by the Sudaneese before or after the aspirin factory debacle? And if so, why didn't he himself claim that was the reason when justifying why he didn't get OBL. Damn... No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
-
I don't think it had anything to do with it. He simply didn't exercise the power of the Presidency to kill or capture a known and wanted terrorist when he had the opportunity. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

You're channelling democratics again. At the time the death of OBL would have simply been a good footnote for his administration, and it would have completely defused the Monica situation. As it was, it ended up being fodder for his eventual impeachment. Don't get me wrong, I'm a republican, and not for Bill Clinton. I don't hate the guy, but he certainly has no legacy (except impreachment.) No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

I disagree....he was attacked because he sat on the intelligence for so long, and then it turned out it was an aspirin factory. Again, no...see above. I would have loved it if BC had gotten OBL. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Okay guys, I did read it. My point is, he bombed it, blamed it on intelligence, then turned around and let the feds pay the damages for bombing it. They had the intelligence for a long time, then decided to strike 3 days after the Grand Jury testimony. The problem is that it really looked like he was wagging the dog because of his timing. You're kidding, right? I wouldn't piss on a democrat if they were on fire, but I've risked my life hunting OBL down and am going back to do it again in 10 days (hoorah!) No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

I'm sure you could have pushed for a sale starting say 10 days ago, and never got a hit. It's been weak for a long time, and when union negociations broke down, everyone really tried to bail. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

I don't think it matters. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Jezzus you sound like my mother. Of course they were screaming that...hell, even the media was contemplating it (Chris Matthews, et al.) I laughed my ass off about the whole thing. Don't you remember, the movie "Wag the Dog" had just come out! No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Yes I did, read it all. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Faulty memory syndrom again. It was the Sudan, and the intelligence he say they had and was used to make the decision was never unclassified. The US also ended up paying compensation again for it, under an agreement ignored by the mainstream media. Clicky Once again, using just enough of the facts to make your point. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Seems to me that Clinton had 3 chances to get Bin Laden on a silver platter and refused. I get he was a bit distracted by the blow job...but oh yeah, that was probably the Republicans' fault as well. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Okay, you're saying Florida GOP. But that is a little misleading (like it was organized by them. The reality is it was the board of elections refusing to release the list based upon state law. Now the majority is GOP in the Florida state legislature, and they passed the law in 2001. So are you saying the board of elections was wrong by following state law? Okay, so now the courts have spoken and the list is out. Hopefully it will get cleaned up before the election, so that when Bush wins the state, the Democratics will have to find some other way to attempt to steal the election. Frankly, I don't think the election will be that close...but this is all just my opinion. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Ah, blame it on someone else, eh? I was going by your exact quote. It does nothing of the sort. If you own it, you own it. Frankly...I think gun control is a crock and a violation of the constitution. Just enforce the current laws. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!

Refused? Hello, it's called executive privilege. What lying? They acted on the best intelligence of the time (hell, even Kerry said it.) And the deficit...uh, hello? There is a war going on. Besides, those are predictions. Try again. No matter how good she looks, someone, somewhere is sick of her shit!
