    Skydive Arizona

I came to Phoenix on business and of course brought my gear. The opportunity to jump Eloy is like going to Disney if you don't live nearby, and if the company was paying the way even sweeter. I made it out on a Monday at 4:30P which at my home DZ of Skydive Space Center there would never be a plane flying. If the weather is good Skydive Arizona is flying. The office staff was exceptional, fast, and new their stuff. From the time I arrived I was on a 15 minute call within 30 minutes. The whole experience was proffesional and organized. The DZ is laid out great. They have everything from coffee shop, gear store, restaurant/bar (IMPORTANT), packing areas and separate landing areas for different skill levels. The view was beautiful over the desert. The only two patches of green were the landing areas making it very easy to see and everything there is an out because it's in the middle of nowhere. I would highly recommend if you have the chance, jump Skydive Arizona. Even if you go with non-jumpers there's always the tunnel. Thank you Skydive Arizona for a great experience.
  2. Congratulations bro. Welcome to the big sky. So you're a FL jumper eh? Come by Skydive Space Center in Titusville. Here's the website. http://skydivespacecenter.com/ Maybe we can get a jump or two in. Blue skies !!!! Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  3. Just flew my Pilot 168 for it's maiden voyage today. What a great canopy. Soft opening, rock solid feeling under canopy, easy to fly, but has the balls when you stand on it. Great landing flare too. Not only did I get a great price but they have one great canopy too. I especially like the color coded line attachments for easier pro packing. I would recomend it for the average skydiver. Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  4. Just took my NEW Pilot 168 for it's maiden voyage, and I have to say the people at Aerodyne have put together one fine canopy. The opening was soft and easy. It flew great!! It had a completely solid feeling that was very easy to fly but responded like a high end sports car when called on. And the flare was predictable with great shut down power. After flying a Silhouette 190 for awhile, I have to say this is the best all around canopy I have flown. I would highly recomend it.
  5. Congratulations. Now you're one of us. Take it slow, practice up high, and keep your head on a swivel. The rest will come. Blue skies !!! Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  6. 32 day's ago I broke my left wrist landing a canopy with a broken A-line below the cascade. (I know....hindsight 20/20........I'll be riding the red handles next time). But today, with cast and all, did a tandem from 15K with one of my Aff instructors Dean O'Flaherty. Man it felt great to be back up and I even got to pull.
  7. Thanks to all for your input. I'm pretty sure now I'll be more confident knowing what we've discussed here, and probably would ride the red handles if I ever experience that situation again. Being that it was a 7 cell, well, like it was said, I'm walking. Thanks and blue ones. Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  8. Yeah I did flare at altitude but not deep. I could compensate by more right toggle, but now I really think if it happened again I would probably follow your advice. Thanks. Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  9. Just saw you in Parachuting with your kids this month. Being a guy it is not a subject I've ever thought about. The article was thought provoking though and I applaud your educated decision to jump. And as a father of a 13 year old son and 10 year old daughter I think your kid's look so damn cute in their jumpsuits in the published photo of you. Kudos. Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  10. About 12 days ago I experienced a hard opening and looked up to find lines hanging through my front left slider grommet. It was stable, square, and steerable but had a moderate pull to the left and I could see the left side was distorted on the bottom skin. At 3,000ft I decided I would land it instead of cut away and made slow right turns avoiding pressuring the canopy on the left side. I made it to the ground, but on flaring the left side folded about 4 feet above the ground and it pulled me backwards and left. In the process I broke my wrist putting me out of commision for about 6-8 weeks. I would love to hear from anyone regarding similar incidents and what you did. Hind site is 20/20 but I still think I would have flown it instead of cut. Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  11. What's and Oprah? Touche' my friend, that's good for a laugh. Peace. Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  12. Get a point, agree or disagree, but don't be Oprah with the never ending point. Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  13. I absolutely agree. Experience and numbers do go hand in hand. But are people doing solo's or are they RW or freefly or hybrid jumping ? Someone who has alot of numbers may not be all that awesome of a skydiver. Someone with X numbers of cutaways may just be a lousy packer. The whole "attitude" of I'm better because I have more jumps is crap and belongs in the forums. Experienced skydivers imparting their knowledge to those of us with less "jumps" is and should be the main goal. Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  14. I think it's relative to the skydiver's abilities. I am and still feel like a newbie, and I hope to never become jaded and lose those butterflies. Jump numbers alone mean nothing. Someone can fling themselves out of a plane as many times as they want. But that beauty we all know when we see someone who is a natural is inspiring. Some like me have to work at it, but it feels like 1,000 jumps if it flows just right. Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  15. Hello All, Just did my 100th jump and 38th B-day at Skydive Space Center in Titusville Florida. The jump was organized by Kenny Wong. Our King Air pilot (jealous?) Snorre Kofod took us to 18,00ft with me and 12 of my friends including videographer Ki. We managed to pull of a 9 way complete and all went smooth. To SSC and all who made it my best birthday yet, Thank you, you know who you are !! Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  16. Welcome to the wonderful world of skydiving. I liked your post so much I had to respond. Skydiving opened up another part of life for me, with jumping and the great people I jump with every week. Take it slow, above all be safe for you and others, and don't forget to smile.
  17. Sucks. That time between graduation and getting your A is strange. You can solo, but that's when you need the most help. Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  18. Hi, Forgive my length. I was at the drop zone yesterday making some jumps and 2 students graduated. They announced it over thr PA and everyone clapped. A few jumps later I noticed they were hanging around and nobody really knew them so they remained on the fringe of the action. I made it a point to talk with them and remembered imediately that sense of excitement I felt at their point. I greatly appreciated those who recognized this with me and went that extra step to help a new jumper. The comraderie is what hooked me, that's what at the end of the day it's all about, or there's nobody to hear your story and learn. Just some thoughts from an old school new guy. 23. Hello everyone. I've been looking for a link to find the owner's manual for my Interceptor CRW canopy without success. Can anyone help ? Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
  24. Rugged, reliable, quality construction. I love it, and Alti-2 has a place on their website that allows you to custom design your face plate for FREE with $10.00 shipping and handling to thank their customers. Cooool.
  25. It's the best thing I ever did. It really changed my life. It will change yours too if you let it. Like the others said prepare to be "jump poor", but you can't put a price on experience. Blue skies and have fun ! Ordinary's..... just not good enough today.
