Excellent! Finally, someone pissed about something in their control to fix. In all seriousness, my friend, I'm in nearly that same position. I just recently passed one year without a single jump because I have a shitty job and no insurance and I have other things that absolutely must be paid on. I love skydiving, it hurts not jumping, but in the next few months I'll be back in the sky AND I won't have a lot of worries hanging over me. My advice to you would have to be....and this is gonna hurt....don't jump until everything's right for you. The insurance thing, whatever you feel you do, but me, that's a risk I'll take but I won't try any craziness then. If you've got bills or needs that require money, do that first. Of course, that's just my opinion Truman Sparks for President

Hahaha, reminds me of a first jump student we had once. She was one of the more nervous types, but everything had been going great through her jump, and she was under canopy about 1000-1500 up still while we radioed her back down. That's when we saw a vulture circling around and just over her canopy. We all thought it was kind of funny, but we were really glad she never noticed it. Truman Sparks for President

Hello to all you awake out there. I've just returned home from a long hard night of drinking with a few friends I haven't seen for a while, and now I must post!! Who's up and posting right now? Speak up, include my drunken ass! Truman Sparks for President

BWAHAHAHA I hadn't noticed that. What's it all mean, Dr. BoobieCootie? Truman Sparks for President

Hadn't even read enough of that thread to read that, actually. Just tired of some general attitudes. I dunno, is it so hard to disagree with a person and still respect them? Of course, to go back to skymonkey calling that dixie chick a pig....well, she is the ugliest of the three Truman Sparks for President

Ok....a golfer goes WHACK "Oh shit..." while a skydiver goes "Oh shit..." WHACK Truman Sparks for President

Assistance! You want assistance?!?! What kind of a post whore slacker are you, needing assistance for nine posts? (That's not a rhetorical question and I do expect an answer.

Ahh boobies, the salve for the wounded spirit. Thanks, Dave. Driver, as far as not reading the threads, most of the time I don't, but lately it's been seeming that there's more of them than anything else. I don't mind reading them and hearing peoples' differing opinions every now and then, hell, I even find some of them interesting. It's starting to seem like we've got about a million different threads about the same damn thing though. Maybe that's the solution. We need just one big war thread for everyone to put forth there theories, postulates, etc. on the war and all the greenies of the world can just shut down any other war threads that pop up. Ahh, I like my fantasy world, that's why I choose to live in it most of the time Truman Sparks for President

bitch! This is getting really old, you guys. I'm all for a healthy debate over this whole war thing, but I've been reading some stuff on here lately that's pissing me off. People seem to be going past the point of healthy debate to the point of slinging mud. I know, I know, it's not really been personal attacks, but this crap is getting as close to that as it can in too many instances. I realise everybody's gonna keep right on doing what they're doing and this thread will accomplish exactly jack schitte, but do me a favor, make it one little tiny insignificant corner of talkback where we aren't dissing the other guy for his point of view, where we aren't busy saying we all have to think the same thing. Ok, I'm getting off my soapbox now, hoping that someone will hijack this thread and turn it into sensless fun. Or at least something that makes a few people smile. Truman Sparks for President

I'm sure he doesn't remember me because it's been a few years since I've been to that dz, but my first 5 jumps were done at Tom's dz. To anyone wondering if they'd be welcomed by him I know I surely was, and since I'll be living back in that neck of the woods this summer I plan on doing my jumping at that dz again. When I was a student ever so briefly there the instructors all invited me to hang out with them after the day and party, they invited me out to dinner with them a couple of times, and they tried to teach me as much as they could. One instructor even invited me over to his house for a dinner he was having for a few of the regulars there. All of that and I was only there for one week. Yep, just seven days. They are good people. As far as that time being gone, well, it is. I'm sad I missed it. We all see glimpses of it, and we all know lot's of people who would have fit in no problem, but seriously, would you feel comfortable in this day and age leaving a wallet full of cash laying around, even at the dz? As sad as it is, the answer is hell no, cause there's always that one guy or gal, and we all know it. Truman Sparks for President

Nope, not from Orange, personally, but I'm sure there's a few on. As far as tips....uh, pull, relax, pull, listen to those intructor dudes, pull, have lots of fun, and pull. Truman Sparks for President

Multiple DZ's at the same airport
blewaway5 replied to PhreeZone's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've wondered the same thing before. The arport I do most of my jumping at has two different dz's. I venver really understood it, but it seems to me that the one I call home is bigger, runs more students through, tandem and solo, and has an overall younger attitude. The other dz is quite a bit smaller and has more of a club feel to it. It works out, though, we all get along, hell, have the time we end up jumping together and drinking together anyway -
Hi, welcome, and all that good stuff. Good luck with the BASE, too. Truman Sparks for President

As much as I liked that movie I have to say, I think your version's better

In the interest of being a devil's advocate I've got to mention this, not to mention the fact that this is the way I feel. You asked... If you are doing something that violates my safety I'm gonna let you know about it. Am I gonna go to the cops over it, not likely, but you will hear from me, no matter how happy you feel about the situation. *shrug* I guess my need for safety strikes me as more important than any pursuit of happiness. It's simple risk management in my mind, and we all know a little about that. Having said all that, I don't think anybody should have called the cops in on it, but the law's the law, and if you choose to break it you are judging the risk to be acceptable. Live with that judgement call. Truman Sparks for President

Ok, maybe death in and of itself isn't the funniest thing going, but you've got to admit, there's some humor to be found in this one. I would even bet that a joke or two popped into your mind when you read it, I know they did in mine. Truman Sparks for President

Welcome to the forums, and I now have yet another reason to wish I lived in Arizona. Oh well, atleast we're finally gonna have a nice weekend, 75 on sat.! It's about freakin' time, too. Truman Sparks for President

So you guys are going to impeach Bush, huh ?
blewaway5 replied to mountainman's topic in The Bonfire
Okay, fine, but he lied about diddling the intern, right? A married man lied about having an affair is what I get out of it. Hey, I wasn't Clinton's biggest fan, I actually think the man's a sleaze ball, but it still struck me as a stupid reason to impeach a president. Did it show a certain lack of moral character? Yep. Would it have been right to kick him out of office over it. I don't think so. Just my personal opinion -

Oh, and I agree with you on that one, Titanium. The first thing I thought when I read that about the drones was. "Hmm, that's a lot like making explosives from common household items." It seemed like efficient, cheap, effective engineering to me. *shrug* That's just what I thought, though -

I concur whole-heartedly, Bill. Kind of like with Clinton. I may not exactly like what he did since he was/is a married man, but that's his business and it didn't have jack schitt to do with running the country. I still can't believe how far that one got. Truman Sparks for President
