  1. This may be a dumb question but I was wondering what sort of fall rate people get on average in a birdman suit. Im not asking because I want to try it, I do my AFF in two weeks nd I know I have a long journey before I have the ability to use a wing suit properly, but I am like most of us amazed at some of the birdman videos that are floating about. I particular some of the base birdman dives. I know fall rate is very objective with a lot of variables such as weight, size and skill, but on average what sort of fall rate do most bird men fliers reach and what sort of lateral speed is it possible to reach. The video linked in another thread here with the french man doing the cliff base dives trailing the orange smoke got me wondering about what sort of speeds he was reaching. Many thanks :)
  2. I cant comment on the weather in Texas as Im in the UK, but as far as leaving it till later is concerned, Id say do it now. Ive spent years and years putting it off as something I really wanted to do but didnt have the money/time/insert excuse here. If you put it off till the spring, there will be another reason to put it off when spring comes. In my case it was something outside of my control when my wife became ill and I had to look after her for a long time. You miht put it off now and like me something will take your life in another direction and all your plans go to ratshit. My situation has changed now and Ive finally taken the bull by the horns and am going to Spain to do my AfF in two weeks time. And Im always going to be kicking myself for ever that I didnt do it years ago when I had the time and the money(ok, a credit card :)). Dont put off till tomorow what you can do today. Something might happen tonight that will take tomorow away from you. Thats my 2pence worth anyway :)
  3. Im also wondering this. Im about to go to Lillo and do my AFF in September, and when I return to the UK, Im intending on joining Headcorn Skydive as its my closest dropzone. To be honest its the only dropzone in this part of the south east UK that I know of. Ive never had any problems from anyone there either with attitude or helpfulness, but I keep hearing people say things like Fedykins comment to avoid it as the worst dz on the planet. I dont have any experience of any other dz at all, so am I missing out on something or doing something bad by going to Headcorn?
  4. Well its getting close now. Just 13 days to go till Im off to Lillo. Im starting to get butterflies a bit when I think about it now. I used to run white water in a kyak for fun and I remember sitting at the put in point looking downstream thinking 'Im going into THAT !!!...' Kind of feels the same sitting in front of the tv watching all the videos made by my friends that already jump. Im going to do THAT!!.. Im just counting the days now. I cant wait :)
  5. You could try having a look through the gallery section here at http://www.freeflyeuphoria.com/ There are some damn good pictures there that sound like they might fit what you are looking for.
  6. I know this post is a bit old, but would this be the same Sean Walsh the DJ who used to release his mixes onto the internet ?
  7. Hi all. Im going to Lillo in Sept to do my AFF, then assuming all goes well Ill be joining my closest dropzone in the UK at Headcorn. I have a few friends that have around 300 jumps each who are already members there. Ive got a dvd of a club member doing her AFF levels, and some instructional dvd's on flying the canopy etc. Other than watch them over and over again so that Ive got slightly sell to absorb in Lillo, are there any tips or information that anyone can give me that might help me in advance of my AFF. I cant wait now. The days seem to be going past real slow.
