Something new from Aerodyne - Sensei(!)
TAXIWAY replied to alge's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Are you guys doing any demos. Before I pay 2800+ I want to try it out. I am sure I will like it. I have never jump a canopy designed by Brian I did not like. -
Something new from Aerodyne - Sensei(!)
TAXIWAY replied to alge's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
that's right! you need to swoop the the way of the Samura firsti(BUY OF MINE!) to become a Sensei. -
I had a great time this weekend.

I need to send Brian an e-mail. I am about to buy new gear. I was going for the velo but if he let me try one of these then build me one if I like it. I would go his way instead of pd.
-
What were you jumping before this canopy? How does it compair? I have talked to Brian about one of these in the past. I love my 105 sameri. Love it even more after he tricked it out and now it goes alot further and faster. I hope he does release these to the public soon. I am in the market for a new canopy Brian if you want to build me one.

do tell.

Great video. Thanks

Absolutely! Just ask Ian. Wearing tight spandex allows him to significantly reduce the drag (up to 7.2%) and go through the gates at neck breaking speeds of up to 26 miles per hour. It's downright scary, i tell ya. Lol thats funny as hell. 26 is pretty fast right?

Your canopy choices and downsize history
TAXIWAY replied to frost's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
0-30 student canopys 30-60 220 f111 60-100 190 f111 100-900 sabre 170 900-2800 stilleto 135 loaded 2.1 2800-guess of 3800 sameri 105 loaded 2.1(lost some weight) I have no plans to downsize anytime soon. Maybe a velo 103 or 96 if I go back to doing 400 or more jumps a year. -
FYI I always delcair it on the plane before hand and its usually on hop-n-pops. When I do them I am usually the last one in the air. I will open at 8000 to make sure I am last. Next time before you post why not think about all the different senerios. Its more fun to go downwind. I did not say I do it while other people are in the air.

Labor Day at Skydive the Farm ($20.08 jumps)
TAXIWAY replied to micduran's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I am going to try to make it up. And if all goes well I will stay dry. lol -
Ok just checking. It sounded similar to what I said the other day.
-
If this is in reference to what I said the other day thats not exactly what I said. Could be something some one else said but sounds alot like my comment. What I said was that I do put my self in the corner some(very little but my flame suit is on) but I never said where I have to use my rears. If your low dont ever use them. I use my rears to plain out and my sameri 105 loaded 2.1 does kinda slingshot me out and I get alot more distance. But my sameri was tweaked by Brian to go faster. He also did some kind of tail mod because it did not do that prior. And for the record I don't recommend anyone do anything I say or I do. And deffinately don't fly your canopy like me. It took me years to learn to fall down like I do. lol
-
Sweet that will get me jumping more. lol
-
Thank you! That is my point. Too many low time jumpers get caught up in having to stand up *every* landing that they create bad habits and create situations in which their safety is put at jeopardy. My personal favorite is this fear of landing cross or downwind because they will be traveling a little faster and may then have to PLF or slide in. Then the resulting low turn and injury trying to chase the windsock. These bad habits are reinforced by people at the DZ in terms of having to stand each landing up. Personally I really like complimenting a low time jumper's really good PLF then a stand up landing. I love downwinders but often dont even try to stand up. Cross wind in fun too. I think every one should know how to land crosswind and downwind(on calm days) When people try to stand it up when they should slide or plf are the ones that get hurt. Nothing like reaching for the ground to break your fall and break your wrist instead.
-
That would be very sweet. I dont think the airport will go for it.
-
Hell I have alot of jumps and land on my ass alot. lol Its usually because I am going to fast to stand up so I slide in on my ass. The key is to land safely it doesn't matter if you stand every landing up or not.

Anyone have a count on fatalities for the year?
TAXIWAY replied to CSpenceFLY's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
here, in order to get a license, you have to have 10 documented and announced accuracy landings. canopy drills are mandatory too. *** They should do that here is the states. Hell half the jumpers here get off student status and can barely fly a canopy. If you have a set direction we can all land together safely. Unlike alot of small dz's where the landing is a free frall. I see the same crap all the time. Everybody wants to land at the same time. I personally hang is brakes and wait for a clean slot. -

We need more conopy flying education. I have seen over and over big slow canopys doing s turns in the pattern because they cant fly there canopy and hit the landing area. I think that more conopy coaching should be required before a person is given a license. And if you dont have 100 jumps you should have an alternate landing area other than the main one. People need to spend more time learning to fly there canopys and less time crying about regulation. Swooping can be done safely. You have to know when to hook it and when not to. Its very easy to do it safely I have done it safely for 10 years and over 3500 swoops. I am all for 2 separate landing areas. I am a swooper and if you tell me I cant swoop then I leave the sport and do only bandit jumps on the beach. lol
