  1. Source? I am sure there are plenty of people (including me) who are timing a new rig purchase to coincide with the release of larger optimums. I want the 160.
  2. Pirates http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirates_(2005_film)
  3. clearly, this acronym is not correct
  4. I bet we could too, but two birds per turbine per year is a small enough number that's it's not worth it, IMO. The bird thing is just another tiny point for the NIMBY crew to make noise about. Billvon- thanks for the info. Now if only more people were willing to front the cash, you could have a nice little side business
  5. So how long have you had all that stuff and has it paid for itself yet? I could pay my power bill for a long time with all that cash and I am thinking that your pay back time might be longer than the life of the equipment. Just curious.
  6. Would you mind going into a little more detail? I have heard of people selling back power to the utilities but I have never really heard a first hand account and I think it would be interesting. Got a bunch of solor panels?
  7. I would also add that wind is not the solution for every place, as others have said. Those who plan renewable energy projects have long recognized this, but those who oppose renewable energy (usually the NIMBY crowd) like to quote it out of context and claim that the projects are not viable. OK, maybe wind is not the best plan in the UK. Is there Anything going on over there regarding tidal energy? Spain recently had some success with this technology.
  8. -kill birds... Not as many as the envirowackos would like you to believe. According to the study below, the average bird kill is two per turbine per year. Sounds like a fair trade for oil independence and reduced air pollutants! http://www.offthekuff.com/mt/archives/010385.html as far as being noisy and ugly, have you ever seen a coal fired power plant??
  9. I would hoard it for about 50 years until the large aquifers in the Midwest are depleted due to today's unsustainable farming practices and withdraw rates that exceed the natural recharge rates. Then I would sell it to them at a ridiculuous rate and make a boat load of cash. If people were willing to pay $4/ gal of gas last summer, think what they will be wiling to pay when water is scarce! (I'm a water resources engineer who designs water distribution systems for a living)
  10. The only logical choice is to investigate all the Christians who give to pro-life charities too. Who knows how many of them are financing weapons to knock off abortion Docs. Then we can discriminate against everyone equally. For everyone who could not tell, the above was a complete joke.
  11. My roomate got it last week. It was leaked and he is an apple nerd so he got it for both of us. I haven't installed it yet though, I guess I'm just not too anxious for it. He says it's awesome. When does it come out for real? I could send you the torrent when I get home if you wanted.
  12. Tell her that you were gonna go to a Mcdonalds in TN this year, but that might bring out all the ignorant white trash. There are racist people all over but it seems predictable that poor areas in the south would have a higher concentration of them.
  13. Landing straight in is easy. Basic maneuvers aren't too exciting until things start getting wrong but that's exactly what you're sizing your canopy for - a down-wind landing on pavement following a low turn to avoid power lines you didn't see until it was almost too late due to low light on the sunset load where you are landing out due to a bad spot because some cute girls flashed the pilot, everyone got extra altitude, and your hypoxic friend got his foot stuck on the seatbelt so your climbout took too long. Thanks for that. It's going in a document where I save all the quotes that I like.
  14. So far my career as a playboy mansion boobie oil applier has not really worked out like I planned But seriously, I never was one for lofty and unrealistic goals. Gotta keep find that mix of keeping it real but also being ambitious. No astronaut, pro football player or boobie oiler here. I knew from a pretty young age that I wanted to be an engineer. So far my jobs in engineering consulting have been pretty fulfilling.
  15. Well, if anyone cares, I did end up getting an engineering job. It's not in renewable energy, or in Denver, but it is a good job and it pays enough for me to make a bunch of jumps, so I'm pretty happy. Its in water resources/ water treatment. It just feels good to have something signed!
  16. I will jump out of a plane, but I will not base jump. Did two base jumps off the new river gorge bridge and found that it is not the sport for me. (my jumps went fine safety wise, but the risk level is too high for my personal comfort)
  17. Am I the only one who thinks it looks photo shopped?
  18. Sounds like another reason to enact a fat tax
  19. Blue Skies Harry! I only had the privilege to know you for a short time, but I will remember your contagious smile and friendly attitude for much longer! -Mike from Virginia
  20. I just threw up in my mouth a little! I dont know whats worse.... the milk or root beer! UGH! Dare ya to try it anyway! It actually turns out quite good. Kinda has a muted smooth chocolaty taste with a bite.
  21. I just had a phantom bulldog: 2 parts vodka 1 part kuhula little bit of milk splash of root beer Its good!
