The AFF (and beyond) rigs here are Javelins with Sabres. They load me around 1.0 or maybe 1.1. I screwed the landing up twice (*) but didn't get injured or anything. So I'd say they're quite forgiving. (*) First time I landed in brakes, as I used to do with the Navigator. Bad idea with a Sabre! Last time I flared too high.
