That's awesome. If there is any way that you can keep current in your old job, I would say go for it. Maybe another option would be to set aside a small "re-education fund" that would allow you to leave skydiving and return to your old job. -

More advice: Get an annual eye exam, regardless of how well you see. One of the things they check for is a condition called glaucoma, which can slowly, or quickly render you blind. This year my eye doctor discovered that I have it this year and has taken steps that saved my eyesight.

An optical mouse won't work well on the typical desktop surface. I works by "seeing" the movement. If the surface it is on does not have the proper visual contrasts, it won't sense any movement.
