  1. Right, but she's not promoting a cause, popular or unpopular. She's just expressing her anger in a way that causes harm to the cheerleading team. Does the school being an agent of the state enter into it? I have no idea if it does or not.
  2. I hadn't thought of that. Very true, and she does have the Trump audacity factor going for her.
  3. Here's an imagination exercise: A young Donald Trump is a member of his college cheerleading team. In all of his off campus social media posts and face to face interactions he foments dissent within the team by lying, pitting people against each other, and in general acting in a very insubordinate manner. All of this is done very publicly. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to see how destructive Trump's behavior could be to the effectiveness of his cheerleading team. Should he be suspended from the team for the rest of the semester? This young woman said something to the effect of "Fuck cheer. Fuck this school, Fuck this, Fuck that, etc, etc." Make no mistake about it, this young amateur did not accomplish the sort of disruption that we imagine in the above scenario, but she did openly try to foment dissent or at least try to do some sort of harm to the team. There is the issue of scale, but both actors are trying to harm the school. It's not the same as her speaking out in support of an unpopular cause such as protesting a war.
  4. That's only during deer season. The rest of the year we require 2/3 majority.
  5. You'd better hold off on implying he's an Islamic crackpot. I think we may find otherwise.

    Q

Maybe so, but being motivated by the most ridiculous lie in history is nothing to be proud of.
  7. Nice. Looks pretty green for New Year's Day. Where is it?
  8. That's a nice gesture, but if that's your standard, you are going to spend a lot of time alone at home.
  9. It is inevitable that your parents will run out at some point. Anything you do to prolong the situation is not helpful and puts you at risk of jail time. I suggest that you let them begin withdrawing and take them to the emergency room. I expect that they deal with this situation every day. There are no good outcomes here. That train left the station years ago.
  10. Has anyone ever suggested that 100% wind and solar would be viable?
  11. This is a great thread. I'm going to have to figure out how to post pictures!
  12. A privately contracted appraisal should not affect your property taxes. Those are based on "appraisals" done by the county you live in.
  13. That's about as good as it gets. Looks like you've got it well sorted. I'm an optimist, but the last year has made me less so.
  14. Leave Arkansas out of this!!
  15. Disclaimer: I have no love whatsoever for China. That being said, the problem with Trump calling this the China Virus is that it was an attempt to: 1) Deflect responsibility away from himself. 2) Create anger that will obscure the real issues and allow him to otherwise create political capital for himself. I'm sure there's more, but to be clear, it's not an issue of being insensitive. The problem I have with anyone that raises an argument like yours is that Trump's calling this the China Virus is such a clear obfuscation that I can only assume that by defending him you think I'm an idiot.
  16. That same congresswoman also thinks the Sandy Hook Elementary and Parkland High School massacres were fake. She's now on the House Education Committee.
  17. Good luck with that! How many Q-Anon adherents are there in Congress now?

    Q

So we should keep track of any body count and kill to run up the score?
  19. What bullshit. There was no mention of throwing anything in the trash. Anyone surprised after four years of non-stop lying? The world, or a significant part of it, now sees lying as a virtue.
  20. I think he looks like Race Bannon from Jonny Quest.
  21. I used to work for Walmart at their home office. Part of their culture building was to have a Saturday morning meeting every weekend at which there would sometimes be a famous person or celebrity speaking. I don't remember the exact year, but one Saturday Rudy was the speaker. This was within a few years of 9/11. Just a reminder that at the time, Rudy was celebrated for his handling of the 9/11 crisis in New York City where he was the Mayor. Having him speak at the meeting was a big deal. He was a good speaker and we were all basking in the glow of a true American hero. In the middle of his speech he pulls out his flip phone and looks at the caller ID, gets embarrassed, and says something to the effect of "I've got to take this call. It's my wife." He then proceeds to have this short awkward conversation with his wife about very mundane household things. The audience's collective heart was warmed by witnessing this intimate, "awww shucks" moment between this great man and his wife. It was perfect. It was so perfect that that my bullshit detector went off. A few years later, I remembered that heartwarming moment, went to Google, and found that it was a stunt that he frequently used in public speaking.
