  1. I'll comment, since it seems no one else has. A ton of jumps, but less than 70? A 1.2 wingloading at 70 jumps, plus your attitude? You may not have been hurt yet, but you are still new. Good luck, it sounds like you will need it.
  2. Read my post, I didn't say anything about accuracy or CC. I said "flying". Sparky I reread the whole thread. It said flying, not falling.
  3. Actually, all Safire1's are smaller than Safire2's with the same placarded size. I am not going to say they are smaller than the placarded size because it is just a different way of measuring canopies, even though it is safe to consider Safire1's smaller than placarded.
  4. What I am saying is different people tire at different rates. There are many turbine DZs where it is easily possible to do 3 jumps an hour, with one plane, and time to eat/pee when the plane fuels.
  5. You could always buy it here for $80: http://csbcommodities.com/
  6. If you are giving a link to the most jumps website, at least quote the numbers correctly. It was 534 jumps. Also, the support for everything required many people, and there were more people helping him switch rigs than there were packing.
  7. Right. They know what kind of main it has, they state jumps on it, and that it has been in storage for years. Looking at it, it appears to be in good condition, but def. an older container. So the person can't spell. Not everyone has the same grasp on the language.
  8. Basically, any time you see gear for sale and it isn't on DZ.com, you think it is stolen? I might be suspicious if it was selling really cheap, but for an overpriced rig? Quick, call the cops, the FBI, and smokey the bear
  9. That is some funny stuff coming from the guy with an "A" license #47605
  10. I would, and do, follow people and gear down. However, I don't think it is safe do so. We all make choices, and if someone gets hurt following my cutaway main down, and they get hurt, I am not going to be thankful they retrieved my things, but I will be upset they got hurt. If you see someone under a reserve and can help them, either by having a cell phone, or first aid training, I would say land with them. If you can't really help, I would say land at the DZ and direct them to the jumper so help can get there ASAP.
  11. Please don't advise people to land out to recover your gear. Landing out can be dangerous, and I would rather lose a main and freebag than have someone hurt trying to recover it. A better plan is to try to watch where it lands, land at the DZ and use a vehicle (if needed) to recover it. Maybe I read that wrong. I think if you see someone landing out under a reserve, you should land near them if safe. If it isn't a safe landing area and you have the altitude to make it back and direct help to the scene, yhat would probably be the better choice. I also am aware that there are people fully capable of safely following gear, but they aren't the one's who will be reading this advice.
  12. You need to call someone else to take it? Does that mean someone already took yours? I checked the small print on mine, and it says "amongst other privelages, possesion of this card entitles beare to revoke others mancards for crying to mommy".
  13. Have you ever looked for a naked picture with a firewall through work? That is why she isn't naked, and if you want a larger picture, I guess you will have to find one yourself. It isn't like pictures aren't available.
  14. I'm sorry, everyone up to this point is wrong. The correct answer was any movie Charlize Theron is naked in.
  15. Shit happens. It could be something odd the jumper did, too little excess line between the risers and last line stow, an incorrectly manufactored pilot chute, or canopy starting to go out of trim (400 jumps=about time for line set on HP canopy). Like I said, shit happens, and you probably won't find a solid cause. With brakes set, once you start a HP canopy turning, it often wants to continue to turn. With this jumpers experience, she should have known how to deal with it. Since the line twists were gone (as I read it, correct me if I'm wrong), she probably should have popped the toggles. Again, 400j line set, probably time for a new lineset. I doubt line twists could cause fraying. Burns, maybe, but fraying?
  16. They may frown on it, but last time I checked, it was allowed. In your situation, there doesn't seem to be a up-side to arguing that point. They are likely going to charge you for each test you take, whether you take them all at the same time or not. Having the paperwork done is not the same as having a license, if you don't have the jump numbers. If I were you, I would just document each requirement you complete of the C, and wait until you have 500 jumps and get the D. Unless you need the C for a competition or boogie, or just want it to have another license, it is a waste of money, IMHO.
  17. On statistics: Numbers, torture them enough, they will tell you anything. Ignoring statistics, because there isn't a good sample, can you answer my question about nationals vs. boogies? I doubt it. ----------------------------------------------------------- Ron is right
  18. I can't understand why you are arguing current jumpers are safer. Seriously, have you ever been to a bigger boogie without seeing/hearing about injuries at that boogie? Now figure more jumps are made at Nationals, and why are there not more injuries?
  19. [Off topic] Technically, in CA you would lose that court case. See, CA law has this little clause where the seller is responsible for smogging the car. IRL, for private transactions, it is often ignored, but it wouldn't stand in court. [/Off topic]
  20. If its already past the 8th year, won't you only have to do one service on it? surely they wouldn't have you do two services in a row.. how does that work? Thats correct. If it's time for the 8 year, the 4 year isn't needed. You may want to double check that
  21. Why don't you compare USPA Nationals vs. WFFC? I don't recall any serious injuries at the last 3 nationals, but someone dies at the WFFC almost every year, and there are always injuries. My thought is that the competitors are current, and the boogie jumpers tend not to be as current.
  22. You could always buy this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7195113255&ssPageName=MERCOSI_VI_ROSI_PR4_PCN_BIX If you figure about $400 for the 4 and 8 year services and battery, that isn't a bad deal for a cypres with 3 years left. Then again, if the bidding goes above $200 it won't be a deal, and since it is on ebay, it probably will go higher than that.
  23. When he's underwater does he get wet? Or does the water get him instead?
  24. Once again, I ask why we don't stop speculating on this and ask the jumper in question? She is still alive, after all, and is the one who knows if the system failed her, or if she simply froze.
