If you have the contact info for Yahoo.. PM it to me.. I work for them and might be able to get a quicker answer. Mark -
I have heard this story from a group of instructros there including koji and Moley.. I came in as a student and started to talk about this vid I saw on the internet..They laughed and told me the story.. the most amazing part and Im sure this has been said is.. The student never took any responsibilty in the interview.. so to a normie.. (non skydiver).. it looked like a gear mal... I showed it to my fiance as a test.. she was horrified and went on how dangerous it is.. I told her what the student didnt do and how they pound that info for 4-6 hrs just before your jump.. She understood.. and then jumped with me the next weekend

Far worse... unless you put them in the kart when it was already doing 80+ mph, 30 feet or so from a series of highly technical turns with walls on both sides. so you jump one too Seems like all you guys are getting to jump the sub 100 canopy's .. I orderd the purple one all kidding aside.. I totally get your analagy (sp?).. -

LMAO....Easy killer!!.. I can see a vein popping out of your neck..lol.. J/k by the time I posted that.. I was under the impression that after a CC I would not be comfortable.. and would think something is wrong with that canopy/// EP's and on to the next one.. but now that you guys have given me all this great info on how to fly one.. Im putting my order in now.. what color should I get -

I am....lol I learned alot from this thread.. thanks for posting.. BTW... if weather cooperates.. I'll have my A this weekend -

The last couple of posts were great and answered my questions.. I want you guys to know that I was not probing flight instructions from you on a canopy that is no where near my comfort zone.. I just read something that seemed like it could happen pretty easily.... I pay attention to as many details that I can absorb...like size of container.. and weather it happed to me or to someone else.. its great info that you guys are putting out here.. What I’m hearing is.. if you cant do a controllability check.. then dump it. Seems like a pretty simple rule and applies to any canopy including the one your flying on purpose. but feel free to argue your points as Im learning from every post -

I think what Bill is saying is that some peoples/22jump student’s natural ability to adapt to a situation is dependent on weather or not to land the canopy. Which means there is a possibility that they will be able to do the CC and not shit their pants.. that being the case although dangerous, they may be able to land it. It would be like me putting you in a shifter kart if you have never driven any type of race car.. Some could do it.. Most cant.. -

I agree you should take extra precautions in this area.. but all that goes down the drain when your in the air wishing you were on the ground. I was just curious of how different they were.. I know by watching them that they are completely different.. but I saw a post where they suggested that if you do a practice flair you could end up upside down.. Is that from the lift/stall and then dive? I guess part of my question are more about what the differences are..and repercussions of the same inputs. its not a online lesson from a 190 progression to a sub 100 canopy...llol.. Im not sure the HP canopy is for me anyway even long term.. I do 3 or 4 buried 360's and I start to get light headed..lol Although I have not hit my ass yet (plf) (all stand up landings and on target) Im sure it will happen some day.. and I'll be ready for it.. but for now.. I like the way my legs work.. so .. I think I'll stick with what they tell me to do.. -

Hi, I was reading something in the incidents section about a guy who jumped the wrong rig.. and ended up with a 96 HP (not sure what kind) instead of a 190 (?). He cut away and landed the reserve.. My question is.. How different from a regular canopy is it.. If I had it over my head (im new) and I did a controllability check.. Would it react the same way as any other canopy other than it would be fast and smaller? if I came in for a conservative landing.. Would it react the same? I’m on demo gear.. I pay reaaalllly close attention to detail on the container. I had a packer double check me because he was packing two Talons.. One was mine.. I told him it was a T18 and had this stain on it and the other was a T6 . He laughed and complimented me on paying attention.. From being out on a busy weekend I can see this happening often. Is it to dangerous to land? Im pretty sure I would try to land it if I was in this situation.. Would that be the right thing to do? Thanks Mark -
I aggree.. This is where I did my AFF school. The facility is huge and people come from all over the world to jump here.. the weather is great, they have a great store (squar one) where they sell everything, a bar/resturant, Pool and a wind tunnel. You can do it all there.. I have heard stories of people comeing there from abroad and get licensed in a couple few weeks.

Brenda will be on your ass real fast to order a jumpsuit LOL.. yea.. Ive talked to her about it.. but no pressure so far.

There are lots of ways to bash your head in skydiving. That's why I wear one, pretty much always. thanks for the reply I want to take some pictures this summer with out a helmet.. but I think I will always wear one.. They are pretty thin.. and Im sure they wont save me from a major accident.. but.. the little bumps in FF or out of the plane Im sure they will work for them.
-
when you get to the door.. Look at the wing.. and make lots of eye contact with your AFFI's they will take care of you.. Smile alot.. there is something about smiling that lets us relax. Not sure about your DZ but one or our planes in Perris is a skyvan.. I did one of my AFF jumps out of it.. they made me walk backwards.. check the spot and step out backwards.. I understood that.. because when I went back for solos.. I had no wing to fix on.. lol.. I could really only see the ground.. by then I had gotten some confidence that AFF will give you .. So now I love jumping out of the sky van.. just dive and tuck.. lots of flips.. then Arch.... and your stable.. its a piece of cake.. Your going to have the best time of your life.. chop up your credit cards NOW!!!

the only thing I have purchase so far is a Altimeter and goggles. Square one loanes us the rest while new.... I will probably get on a demo program next month as I have been jumping 5-7 days a month. the money I save there will go towards a RW jumper and a helmet. which brings me to a question. I see lots of people jumping with out helmets.. Even some of the newer jumpers. I dont mind wearing mine.. but what are your thoughts on it?
-
Awesome!.. Have fun on your solo's the first one is the longest skydive Ive had to date
-
LMAO.. looks just like mine!
-
I cant argue with you at all.. and I agree.. I had a blast on my solos.. but am looking forward to jumping with other people too.
-
What's wrong with just having a little fun? After the high demands of the AFF jumps, doing unstructured leaps are a joy. Don't have to finish the A requirements on time. I didnt say it wasnt fun.. but I can see myself (dont know about anyone else) posibly creating bad habbits by jumping alone.. and if you dont think coach jumps are fun.. what is? there is no time requirment.. but the longer you stay on student status.. the longer you are left with out choices.. If you cool with that.. then its all good.. I think skydiving is about the people and learning.. those are two things you cant really do alone. It could be wrong for you.. but this is how it is working out for me.. what ever you do.. have a blast and smile a lot

I did tunnel time between level 3 and 4.. it was the best thing I ever did.. Just do what they tell you to do unless you think its unsafe.. then ask someone else what they think.. ask ask ask.. the questions that are stupid are the ones you didnt ask..
